Work / Still having a hard time in Poland, no job and low pay.. [15]

Welcome back :)

Poland's economy is doing okay - at least they are not heading for recession like the UK, Germany and Spain.

Why worry about the currency? The £ isn't very strong at the moment but as long as prices on the high street stay okay it doesn't affect me unless Im travelling.

I love the cold weather, but it doesn't get that cold here, it just rains and rains and rains, so Im jealous :(

As for your wife, she probably has a good job and is happy - if you love your wife then you will love Poland - eventually :)

UK, Ireland / Integrating Polish people into the British society [150]

Anyway, I think that I was reading somewhere that this government likes giving benefits to some people to keep them quiet?

I'm not sure that, that is true, but if you're reading that and you live in Poland, I can understand why some of your less desireable people want to move to the UK.

I am not convinced about channel4 programme either. BBC shows twisted picture of British lazy people on benefits. Channel 4 shows one-sided wievs of some British workers saying that immigrants take their job. But....they were not convincing to me either- sort of people who demand, demand...more money, longer breaks...and O! painful back so will have to go on sick leave.....

Thank you Iwonka for having an open mind.

Reforms of the benefit system are on their way, it has been open to abuse by those who know how to "work" the systemn for quite some time, unfortunately those who really need it, often go without.

Life / When in Poland, should I be British or Scottish? [104]

however I have a fairly English accent

Shame on you, call yourself a Scot! ;-) Just start practicing "Ockiaaa Tha Noo" and you'll be just fine.. :)

Personally I don't get this whole British thing, I consider myself English and I consider Scottish people to be Scots - so if you're a Scot, tell them that you're a Scot..but I agree with PD too :)

Love / Who makes a good Polish wife? [75]

I understand you have an attraction to a certain type of woman, we all have different taste.

Join a dating agency, but finding someone who is genuine and honest is a difficult task in this day and age, be careful about the information you give out regarding your wealth - the kind of women that are easily impressed about money are hardly the kind of women that will love you for who you are.

Try dating agencies in Dubai, maybe there are some single Polish girls working over there, that way they know the reality of living outside of Poland and experiencing a completely different culture in a place like Dubia.

I'm not sure you will ever find what you are looking for because of the environment you are in, you are in UAE and Polish girls are mainly in Europe - it kind of narrows the chances down. Hopping on a plane and visiting for a few days isn't really going to reep any benefits to your search either (I explained about Western style dating and courtship process). Somethings are never meant to happen, you loved and lost whilst in the States and I think you want to re-capture what you had, maybe you should just be happy with the memories you have of the Polish girl you dated out there.

Anyway, I hope you find love

I quite like the starving option :)

I also think that people should be paid a fair days pay for a fair days work regardless of their nationality.

The documentary that is being discussed, the one thing that i noticed was the fact people were waiting at coach stations waiting for coaches from Poland or whereever to arrive and offering people jobs, unless someone has researched the job market in the UK, how the hell do they know that they are being ripped off and under paid - most of the guys featured on the documentary were hardly professionals.

UK, Ireland / Free/cheap English lessons in England with certificate upon completion? [9]

Can anyone provide me with details of free/cheap English lessons in England with certificate upon completion?

Polish friends of mine have done the Learn Direct english courses and they get a certificate at the end and from what I know they are pretty reasonable. She may be able to do the Learn Direct course on line too, just check out their website it's quite user friendly. - just checked out the site - seems to be quite a simple course with no cert. soz

check with your local council - they normally do free English lessons for foreigners living in their area. My wife did that course when she first came to the UK and she had exams and certificates at the end.

Not any more.

Travel / Good Place near Gdansk for weekend get-a-way? [8]

But it is not luxury, it is for someone who likes sitting by the fireplace with no tv.

Who needs tv when you have views like that - perfect for newly weds, it's not like they're going to be watching much t.v. .....

The guy who earnt 2k a month would have to work 66 hours a week - after tax he'll take home about £1.4K

I agree with the you regarding the scum that they interviewed outside the Job Centre - but Im sure they could have found people who actually wanted work - but that wouldn't have made the documentary so interesting :)

News / Poland ends conscription. [11]

Why doesn't Germany?

I didn't even know that Germany still had national service...

I'm actually torn on the idea of national service, most people in England say it was the worst thing we ever did to get rid of it.

I wonder what the general feeling is amongst the older generation in Poland.

News / Polish incest-family case 'like Fritzl' [52]

I have never heard of these things anywhere else,my country included!.

How sick!! In this modern world!! Even animals don't do it? Must be one of Hotler's "pure race" doctrine follower!!

Not my words!! Your's!!

You insinuated that somehow it was the norm in Poland by your "pure race" comment.

My country?? I thought I wd tell u who/what I am , but I seem to enjoy the fact that u don't know & keep on assuming things!!

You're obviously some 3rd world immigrant as none of the EU members would want or need a British passport...in any case you're a childish retard.
