Life / Doing laundry in Poland [66]

You need conveniences to stay in the game: prepackaged foods

What about healthy food ? And actually food that has a good taste and is not plastic ?

Life / Doing laundry in Poland [66]

definatelly outside :) It smells lovely and fresh ^^ It has nothing to do with saving money - just a habit i got after my mother :)

Is there just one setting? Holy cow! :)

there are 3 (90C, 60C and 30C) all three around 2 hours :) Told you its ancient washing machine:)
One at my parents house is more modern :) How long it takes ? Never actually though about it. I just put it on and forget about it untill i go there again and its done :) Actually same is with mine here - no timing just ABCDE thingy with teperature. No clue how long it takes :)

Love / Do Polish Women Date American Men? [46]

How many polish people in Poland do you see marry interracially

Thats only because in poland there is not much choice :)
But outside poland, polish girl would date or marry whoever is good for her without looking on religion or race.

Language / A Native American or a Native Pole: Who is better into which language? [116]

The" = specyficznie przedmioty i osoby, n.pr "Where are THE books? - On THE table" (Tylko JEDEN stol), "Where is THE man?" itd.
"A"/"An" = powszechnie przedmioty i osoby, n.pr. "I'm looking for AN empty (wolny) table." (Cokolwiek!)

I do get general idea behind it and most of the time (i hope) i get it right, but there is alot of diffrent rules to it and i mess them up :)

Language / A Native American or a Native Pole: Who is better into which language? [116]

I find English quite easy but I know that I am far from being as fluent as I want to be.
Thing that I will never get is difference between "a" and "the". Because in polish we dont use prepositions at all i find it really difficult.

Another thing is getting difference in pronunciation of words like sheet and **** :) they still laugh at me when i ask for **** of paper at work :-)

Love / Polish Engagement and Wedding Traditions [42]

the reception went FOREVER

thats whole fun of it :)

they played all these games, which, honestly, I found really annoying rather than fun

You have to understand that and it is part of our tradition

and by the look on many faces, they did too!

that only means that wodzirej and band were crap, not that tradition is bad.

sometime near dawn, the 'happy couple' were exhausted

but happy ! :)

what girl will be most happy to hear is something that you want to say, not polish sentences you learn by heart.
We can all help you here to translate your own words :)

Love / Polish Engagement and Wedding Traditions [42]

The bride and groom are greeted with bread, salt and wine

eeer wasnt it vodka insteed of wine ?

It can be only in a church now.

you can have only one wedding in church which will be containing both register office and catholic ceremony.
If you dont want to have church ceremony - you can go to register office alone

Now the young couple walk up to the altar together and behind them walk the witnesses, her parents, his parents then rest of the family

more likely now is that all guests and familly will be sitted in a church and only young couple will walk up to the altar together.

reception usually lasts two days. At 00:00 (midnight) of the wedding day there is a ceremony called oczepiny. Thats when bride takes off her veil and groom his tie/fly. Then they will throw it to catch by single women/men. Lots of signing and plays around that :)))

And obviously LOTS of drinking and LOTS of eating and LOTS of dancing during whole reception :)

Love / Seeking advice - I get a feeling she is seeing other guys [25]

In addition, she must examine her own ethics and upbringing, regarding making her own moral decisions.

yup
especially if she came to US when she was really young. That is when people get most confused about their culture. On one hand you have your parents at home teaching you one way, on the other - there is a whole world out there living diffrent life.

abcdef - may i ask how old is she ?

Love / Seeking advice - I get a feeling she is seeing other guys [25]

i cant say that she is innocent
but
its not our habit to date several men at time
But then again you have take into consideration that she was in US for 4 years - sometimes being in forein country changes people...

Life / Losing the homeland identity of Polish people living abroad [10]

i think this happens in most cultures around the world with the teenagers these days!

which is a bit sad :( Cause culture is what makes us diffrent. If everyone will be exacly the same in their behaviours it will be just boring !!!!
