Travel / Thinking about having a roadtrip in Poland... [41]

Later this year or maybe even next year... I'm really flexible with everything to be honest. I'd rather change my plans and go with some people and have some company than go alone.

Love / Abuse in relationships (my first Polish girlfriend) [216]

Maybe a couple of weeks anger management course, wouldn't do you any harm either ;)

I'm already on it! I'm aware of my faults and I address them.

;P

I have always found Polish girls a little bit more highly strung. My first Polish gf once cut my face with an empty beer can. I understood why she did it, I was being a little bit of a prick, but still I thought it was over the top. She didn't though.

See that's just it though dt.

Why did she find that acceptable?

Love / Abuse in relationships (my first Polish girlfriend) [216]

I'm no saint, I've lost my temper and broke things/punched walls etc but I've never hit her.

I'm not really challenging that shes fuc*ed up I'm rather talking about the stereotype of abuse and how this integrates with sexism towards men.

Love / Abuse in relationships (my first Polish girlfriend) [216]

I've had the recent experience of being punched and kicked by a Polish woman when I confronted her about it (via sms afterward) and told her she's lucky I didn't hit her back (which I would never do but I hope you know where I'm going with this) she told me that she has hit her ex's before and nobody said they would ever hit her back.

I was standing shocked reading this message wondering if she thinks this is normal!

I think this is a crazy attitude and I wonder (since that was my first Polish girlfriend) is that the norm culturally?

I wouldn't stand for any abuse of any kind and to be labeled a pus*y wouldn't offend me even in that macho Polak way in which guys in Poland always want to seem like they are tough and are immune to anything.

Basically I'm asking about challenging the normal view on this topic that it's ok for girls to hit guys and if he complains he's a cipa but if a guy hits a girl he would most likely be beaten by her friends.

I just wonder what everyone's thoughts are on this topic.

Life / Openly gay in Poland [245]

Well you probably know more than me since you live in Poland but I was under the impression from my many Polacy friends that society had advanced enough that as long as you were not OTT you are generally excepted.

Now that doesn't mean you should go hitting on guys in downtown £ódź but as long as you are aware as in most other countries it is acceptable in 'civilized circles'

I may well be wrong, just the impression I got.

Life / Openly gay in Poland [245]

adrian11224

I'm keeping this as simple as possible and avoiding an essay on the subject, for no reason other than you are likely to get many responses which won't make much sense or that clash with other responses.

As was said earlier it will depend on where you go and how you act (as in any country).

Poles are civilized people and most are open to gays and will rarely bat an eyelid however some are not, this is the same as any country in the world I think.

As for the church I'm not sure, people on here know more than me about this.

Simples.

Travel / Thinking about having a roadtrip in Poland... [41]

Well so far it's just the very beginning of an idea and to be honest I don't have a car and I don't drive but still it does not necessarily have to be by car I could take the train instead (I hear trains are really cheap anyways.

So yeah, I'd love to visit Warszawa, Kraków, Szczecin, Poznań, Wrocław and some other cities (Not sure which ones!) of course the seaside and also some historic places.

I'm flexible and just looking for ideas of places to go and maybe if somebody would like to join me for a few weeks...

:)

For those of you who don't know me from the forum previously I'm able to get by in Polish at a very basic level and I love to travel and meet new people and do/see new things.

So in summary:

Any recommendations of where to visit?

Anybody up for a trip to Poland to see what we can see?

Can anybody help out along the way? or maybe just meet up for a piwo?

I'd love help or info.

Cheers,

Left.

News / nasza klasa in the news. [11]

NK is a bit strange for me, it's full of crap and fictional profiles, I see more and more Poles arriving on Facebook.

I have to agree with the ruling as there should be some responsibility in part by the owners of Nasza Klasa to take down fake profiles.

Start with cjjc's thread... polishforums.com/work/poland-teaching-english-tesl-61354/

There are many courses, books, audiobooks and computer programs for you to discover.

Polish forums is a great first step.

Travel / Can someone give me information on Eastern Poland? [10]

I'm curious about eastern Poland... is it similar to the rest of Poland? I mean you tend to hear about the cities such as Warszawa, Kraków, Poznań, £ódź, Szczecin but I never hear anything about eastern Poland.

Are the people there earning the same money as in the more popular parts?

Is life as rosy?

Is it more industrial or agriculture based?

Maybe it's more substance living?

etc etc

Can someone tell me about eastern Poland?

Feedback / Why do people post on polish forums [27]

I have come to the conclusion that people who post here are either mad, sad or lonely. Okay I put myself forward. I am a little mad and lonely how about everyone else?

I just enjoy the banter and I actually learn something as oppose to some forums...
