UK, Ireland / Poles in Ireland - integration? [41]

Today, It seems very much more advance than a few months ago.

There is more intergration and day to day life is a normal as one would expect!
Having 'lived' lol, in Warsaw for a month too - you can see it better when you come back how normal life is here too.

The issue of Polish Integration into Irish society will be around no doubt for awhile in certain peoples views but from what Ive seen - the polish community is very intergrated and becoming more so as time passes.

UK, Ireland / Why do Poles come to England? [514]

Hence we Poles must remember that many Russian lives were lost to rid Poland of German Occupation

In order to replace it with the 'Russian Occupation...

When the germans were on the Run out of Warsaw, why did the red army sit on the other side of the Wisla river while Varsovians fought for 63 days uprising! (of which the Russian radio'd warsaw to start!) AND the red army did NOT allow the british to use its airfields to airdrop supplies to the AK!! and when they did it was already too late!

So lets not forget that poland doesn't forget the German occupation, the russian occupation or the betrayal by roosevelt, churchill and stalin (in Tehran conf.) that decided polands fate for after the war WITHOUT polands knowledge!

As to WHY the Poles come to england - to make a living id imagine!? why else migrate?

Life / Public Transport in Warsaw [33]

im here for the month and its been two weeks today and ive no complaints against the trams and the buses are regular and timely.

I prefere the trams as they are less crowded. the fact that there is alot of renovation to the roads and tram system will make it harder to bare at present but its fine. Nothing worth complaining about in the grand scheme of things. the worst complaint is that they are crowded and thats hardly worth mentioning.

the metro is unfortunately wide enough (ie more routes) like a route from the airport to centrum would have made so much sense but its only since the mid 1990's it was built so there is plenty of time and EU money yet to come.

Work / Work Ethic of Polish Workers [19]

They dont work overtime and split up their work day so they can go home and nap and eat lunch

Bit of a generalisation - its not all like that. neither is the american view you set out.

The Poles that come to work here in Ireland are as varied a workforce as any. Alot of hardworkers, with the usual slackers and chancers. just like in any society.

The thing we notice here at least - is they and other migrants, work in any job that pays well for them that locals seem unwilling (by and large) to do. So for that, its a very good thing. Keeps the economies moving. Best still if they can repatriate that income to Poland (even in Ireland, we have Eastern european shops with eastern european produce therefore some of that money makes it home)

News / There is no Muslim in Poland [116]

i don't believe any one religion is 'best'

though i understand one would need to believe there own religion is 'best' in order to follow one.
Otherwise, why follow an inferior one???

I stand by my first statement

only northern irish unionists i know call themselves british and even then, thats not alot of them.

i agree ukinpl, the majority of GB citizens refer to themselves from the 'land' they came from Eng, Sco, Ire & Wales

News / Why do Poland block the European Constitution? [68]

no eu member can pressure another. look at the nice treaty, and the constitution. individual countries have been able to successfully veto drafts they were not happy with

they will work on the constitution untill all members are satisfied with it

UK, Ireland / Polish girl burned alive in Liverpool [201]

Puzzler, your post in non-sensicle, devoid of any heart for the true crime and are intent on nothing more than your self serving motives.

a human being has been brutally murdered. you care not for her rather you see a chance to brand hatred on the ENTIRE UK.

you are a disgrace to all decent people i know (from ANY NATIONALITY including poles of which im glad to saty you are the only one i know with such horrid views)

you are unable to see the big picture and see only lines on politcal maps. You accuse me of things that i do not give any support in my posts for and i cannot imagine how you come to the conclusions i am a polonophobe yet again! (despite in another thread calling me a polonophile in another)

i am being quite clear so much so no one but you has to question what i mean. We have been down this road to many times before puzzler. You have lost any respect i could have for you. (bear in mind this has nothing to do with where you are from and is not a rascist attack as you could be irish and i would still say the same to you! the fact is i say all the above to you as an individual and as an individual it is my opinion you have a poor view of and low tolerance of other peoples.)

by the by, i dont moderate your 'views' i moderate the rules. break them, anyone who breaks them, gets moderated. that is fair and you know it.

UK, Ireland / Polish girl burned alive in Liverpool [201]

Yet again, I am very disappointed in the views of many members posting here.

This is almost a repeat of the little girl killed in Italy thread.

It is not a reflection on the Uk as a whole. it was not a racist again. It was two people whom one did an unforgiveable act. if she were any other nationality, puzzler, ola, greg, wouldn't care. and that is disgusting.

i do care, i care for the fact she was burnt alive - no matter where she was from, rather for who she is. a feeling, breathing, person

shame on you

Love / Why english men like polish women ? [126]

english does not mean anglo saxons. anglo saxons means anglo saxons

english is a person born in england.

anglo saxons themselves displaced celtic tribes in brittanica. not to mention roman colonisations etc etc.

English men of all colour and creed will continue to love women of all colour and creed (indeed they may love men or both! - this isn't my fav thread)

News / Some Poles burning American flag [299]

Yes, we 'would' have. it has calmed down ALOT in the past 7 years. Still some trouble but we all see it for what it is. 'scum' causing trouble for trouble sake, they are not the values of todays communities in N. Ire

News / Some Poles burning American flag [299]

not sure...

i think for some it is just a day to run riot and damage people's property, fight the 'man' :eyes rolling:

im against nannystate and blind obedience - but im more against blind disobedience

if they could actaully protest PEACEFULLY id respect them more and be willing to listen more to there ideals (as it stands, the 'ideal' of riotting does not bode well with me(flag burnging or not))

News / Some Poles burning American flag [299]

flag burning is the right of the people.

it is a symbol for their dissatisfaction with the state.

while i wouldn't do it myself

I believe blind obedience to the state is foolish and asking for trouble
(removal of freedom, the patriot act) I appreciate there is a 'war on terror' but its also been a good way for the US gov't to pry into the homes of every US citizen at there will and leisure

UK, Ireland / Getting married to a Polish Citizen in the UK [371]

[quote=haf)
is it ganna be hard? [/quote]

Yes. x2

thought for EU citizens, not so much. Marriage helps that but it only makes the application more 'dubious' they are far MORE rigourous in checking you r application is legitimate in case you just married to get citizenship
