Genealogy / Help Brzozow family name Tarnawski [8]

Emma,

You could look at some maps, which should show the local church. The church address will be on a local web-site.

Then write a brief letter, which someone here can translate.

Find a forum for a local town web-site and post a message.

Have you read all the Genealogy links on this site ?

Love / What make Polish girls better than American girls [106]

Wroclaw how are they different.

In short. Customs, traditions, maybe family values, expectations, being in the middle of other cultures.

The Polish reality is, I imagine, different to the American one.

This is what might make Polish women different, but not necessarily better.

Life / Horse racing in Poland? [13]

Horseracing in poland does it exist ?

There are three race tracks in Poland. One is in Wroclaw. I have no idea when meetings take place, but if you search: horse racing in wroclaw... I'm sure that you will come up with something.

Edit. It seems I was a bit late.

UK, Ireland / Paying tax in the UK??? Then you're breaking the law!! [41]

You are an idiot. Poland too is supporting the war. How are you paying Polish taxes if you live in Byker? Has Poland increased its borders westwards?

Michal,
hairball is from Byker, but living in Poland. Just because one disagrees doesn't make the other person an idiot.

hairball,
To prove this genocide, won't you have to show the difference between individual acts of murder and government policy to remove people.

Acts by individuals are already tried in the courts.

Death by result of an accident [collateral damage] is not a war crime.

At what point are UK forces breaking international law. Other than the fact that you believe the war is illegal/unjust.

UK, Ireland / Paying tax in the UK??? Then you're breaking the law!! [41]

Some of my friends in variouse parts of the UK are in the process of "reporting" the war cimes of genicide to the uk Police

Are they witness to these crimes or are they forming their own opinion ?

I would have thought that there would be a higher authority than the UK police. I mean a government/non-government... national/international organization.

I don't agree with your message, but I would like to learn more.

UK, Ireland / Paying tax in the UK??? Then you're breaking the law!! [41]

If you are tax payer in the UK then you are breaking International and UK Law, by supporting the illegal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

If by paying tax a Brit is breaking international law... Then the same would apply to Polish taxpayers.

Hairball, do you pay tax ? Are you contributing to the genocide ?

You seem to be a man of principle. What are you doing to right the wrong ?

UK, Ireland / Polish people in UK not reporting crime. [26]

There is a strong possibility that these so called victims of crime fear detection themselves should they approach the police.

I doubt that this is true of more than a small percentage.

UK, Ireland / Polish people in UK not reporting crime. [26]

Obviously there are people who just don't report any crime for various reasons but the concentration here is on the issue of people who do want to report it, but can't. It's a worry, I feel.

Point taken.

UK, Ireland / Polish people in UK not reporting crime. [26]

Quite concerning to me is this article regarding the amount of crime that goes unreported by Polish people

I feel sure that there is a lot of crime not reported by british people either.

If I don't report a crime in Poland... Why should I do it in the UK ?

Life / Animosity between Poland vrs. Polonia? [98]

They don't like when Polonia votes in Polish elections,

I don't like it either. But it was pointed out to me [on these boards] that those who vote could well be voting for their future. A future when they return to Poland.

People who have no intention of returning shouldn't vote in my opinion. Problem is we don't know who these people are. So the only fair way, it seems, is to let them all vote.

Did your Grandfather live in Poland or Canada ?

Where was he married ?

Where did he work ?

Was he in the military ?

Do you have aunts and uncles who can help ?

If he lived in Canada: You should be able to check some records there...

Law / What is the hardwood lumber demand like in Poland? [26]

hardwoods aren't really structuraly as stable as sofwoods thus never really used.

This is not true at all. The reason that European hardwoods are not used is simply that they take too long to grow.
Many Rain Forest hardwoods are banned in Europe.
It is also cost that prevents the use of hardwoods

My house is built of oak and walnut

I'd love to see it.

Study / Cookery training and lessons in Poland's education [24]

Do you think there's a reason it wouldn't appear as part of the educational system, even as an optional subject?

Possible reasons:
Schools can't afford it
It doesn't fit into the already intense curriculum [sp?]
It's one of those things that can be taught at home
