USA, Canada / Getting my Polish fiance into the US [16]

You can try for the tourist visa again, but they will need proof that she will be returning to Poland. And she might get denied again.

But you can apply for the fiance visa, the waiting time is shorter than the spousal visa because the spousal visa is an immigrant visa and it takes longer. Fiance visa usually takes 5 months. Once it's approved ( after 2-3 months) you can travel to Poland and you can go with her to the interview, which is about 6-8 weeks after it's approved. You do not need to stay in the US, you can come back with her. Fiance visa is rarely denied. The cost at this time is $170. After July 31-st it goes up to $480

News / A thought on Poland! [140]

Many people who write things against America have never been here and base their ideas on TV programs. But once they visit the US, they are surprised it is not at all how the media has portraid it. And most American don't agree with the politics so the information others have gathered pertains to the political outview of the United States, not the "little people".

Travel / Traveling to Poland: Tips for First-Timers [47]

electronic devices are expensive in Poland, i-pods, digital cameras, computer games, cd's etc. are always cool presents. You can buy pretty much everything in Poland now. Certain foods are different, like some cereals, peanut-butter. Books in english about Canada could be interesting. T-shirts with neat designs are popular, baseball caps and Adidas shoes. They are very popular there.

USA, Canada / Polish fest in Milwaukee,WI [48]

And one more. Milwaukee is very proud of it's Polish heritage. There is a Polish school which meets on a Saturdays and the children learn Polish and Polish tradition and culture. There are several Polish dance groups performing from Milwaukee. The Poles were living in the south side of Milwaukee, there still is a Kosciuszko Park, a Polish store on Lincoln avenue but everything now is being taken over by the Mexicans. All stores are Mexican, bakeries, bars, gas stations even the names of streets are in Spanish.

Work / Culinary-Art's degree, thinking about Moving back to Poland from the US [10]

My parents moved back to Poland after about 16 years in the US after being displaced by the war. My father was a translator for English based companies and the Polish goverment and both parents were English teachers as well. My mother was also a music teacher so there are opportunities for bilinguals. Keep in mind too, that being away from the country you will see differences since the last time you were there.

USA, Canada / Gas prices in America [127]

yeah it sucks but Americans need to drive smaller cars like in europe.

They wouldn't fit in them

In the states you need a car because the distances are far, while in Europe you can hop on the bus, tramway, train, metro.

its amazing how backward such a developed country can be.

All vehicles in the US are equiped with emission control catalytic converters, not seen much in Europe.
