Life / Do Polish people respect other cultures? [96]

And you have so many cooking books.......

People have a tendancy to buy them and then use them to decorate the kitchen....a case of oooooooo look at me I can cook...hmmmmm personally I dont need a cook book my are handed down recipies.

As for the rude thing, just try and ignore it even the most educated of English can be fuss pots and forget their manners, like you say its a culture thing we used to be a nation that wouldnt complain about service and food now its our main pass time...

Duck blood soup

I'll stick to blackpudding thanks :)

“Flaczki” (“Tripes

No thanks my grand mother used to cook it for my father I can still remember the smell to this day!!!:(

I think it is like in this saying that ( I don't remmber exact words) that grass is always greener at our neighbours.....

The grass is greener on the other side....

If Poland economy / wages etc. were better people wouldnt leave Poland there would be no need, its purely down to economics...I'm sure things will change in the future

Life / Black people in Poland [357]

its all down to preference P and what floats ya boat and what brings on that little light bulb in ya head...I think in Poland they have not been fully exposed to all nationalities they (not all - possibly a minority) form a view on a certain thing based on image rather than experience.......none of us are full anything if we trace our roots back far enough....Personally I dont have to trace my roots that far back to know this...

For me it was experiencing something new as it every time I go abroad, but Poland has something special, as a child I would see white weddings every saturday..not any more people get married by a registra, but in Poland there were lots of weddings on the Saturday I was there, also the Sunday was nice seeing all the families in their Sunday best coming out of church and actually spending time together instead of going to B&Q or Sainsburys.......Also people go out and enjoy a drink or two without getting drunk and it was CLEAN!!..there a million and one other reason why I enjoyed my visits but it would take too long to go through them all its the above reasons that make me smile when I think of Krakow..and Wroclaw...Oh is will add one more thing...the food...hmmmm roll on the 30th!!!

News / Russian bear flexes his energy muscles - threat to Poland? [37]

Its only their way of exercising political muscle....by economic means......showing whose boss to the small former satellite states...just a bully really......

I really find it quite difficult to understand how a country like Russia gets on in the world since all they seem to do is threaten people...surely there will come a time when they need an ali??

The same if someone invites you for dinner at home they always highlight how much they have spent on it ...just to make you feel uncomfortable.

I think its their way of saying that you're worth the expenses, you know how some people like to brag, dont feel uncomfortable...some people are modest and on the flip side some people are not...

home made cake

I would be very surprised in England if I got home made cake......:)

Life / The School Year in Polish Schools [21]

Schooling is compulsory for all English children from the age of 5 to 16. The academic year in England runs from September to July and is divided into 3 terms:

Autumn Term: from the beginning of September to mid-December.

Spring Term: from the beginning of January to mid/late March (depending on the dates of Easter)

Summer Term: from early/mid April to mid July.

Each term is divided by a one-week break called half term, usually at the end of October, mid-February and the end of May.

Most schools also have 6th Forms - 16 to 18 (most decide to stay on for A Levels)

Uni - 18 to 21 (probably 40 per cent will go to Uni) and then there's your masters degree...blimy nearly 20 years at school before you finish!

So when if you think about it the average brit spends 13 years in School...

UK, Ireland / UK theory part of driving test in Polish language? [23]

all the procedures and signs in our company have been translated in to different languages and i don't think it is offensive to the english emloyees.yes,we are in england,in the english compamy but since a lot of our workforce is non-english it helps them to understand our procedures and signs better and accidents don't occur so often now

Well thats very accommodating of them, but I think that if someone is in England they should be able to read the signs at work, do you think that in other countries they would be so accommodating?? It gets my goat when I get paperwork through and its printed in every language you can think of, this is all costing money which in affect comes out of my pocket! I dont have issues with other nationalities being in England but I dont think I would be happy if I went into work and all the signs were in different languages, I am after all living in the UK!

Love / Is it typical for Polish guys to fall in love quickly? [86]

but I don't buy that you didn't feel good for helping out the less fortunate

It made me think how lucky I was to have all that I have and it made me angry that in this day and age people are living so poorly due to circumstances some times beyond their power and it made me sad because you know that in most cases they will die young and will never have what most consider a normal life.

News / Where in the US/UK live most Poles? [46]

I think since the UK is closer you would get more Poles living here because of the ease of getting to and fro

Love / Are Polish men different depending on what region they're from? [12]

He was as Iwona said a bit cocky, within 10 minutes of sitting down he had said that most Polish people in England were stupid and most English people were not very inteligent, yes he was more polite when pointing this out, he gave various examples, one being that most people in England dont know they live on a Island....I dont want to sound rude toward him but his jobs hardly put in contact with people who are exactly the sharpest pencils in the box, aparently someone in the UK had asked if there were many Polar Bears left in Poland...LOL.....he was very derogetory toward Poland, its very grey and boring yet in the UK its very colourful (he was referring to clothing), I just smiled politly at his comments since I couldnt be bothered to start knitpicking by saying I thought he was talking sh*t since I have visited Poland twice and thought that the people and clothes were very nice...oh yes he said that Polish people dont know how to mix because in England people go out and strike up conversations with strangers (hmmm I think that has something to do with being slightly tipsy), I didnt bother mentioning that both times in Poland I had, had the pleasure of mixing with the natives or maybe I just couldnt get a word in edgeways! Dispite his very good looks I would rather walk over hot coals than go out with him again...
