History / Kostopol History [5]

Do you know the region/location of this town? There is more than one such name.

Travel / Places to visit near Łódź [9]

Most villages near Lodz are small; I would suggest you go to Warsaw too since it's not too far from Lodz. All in all Lodz as a city isn't very attractive for a general tourist (unless you are related to Jewish history in Poland - and then it could be a must to explore).

Travel / Going to Poland this summer -- US dollar prediction... [34]

I don't see how dollar could keep on falling. Then who'll be buying EU-made goods? Smart shoppers go to the US to buy small things from Canada or even England; most companies (not only smart) go to US to buy bigger goods made here. Oil in Euro it would be a similar situation what is now with dollar, next step will be oil in GBP when Euro is devaluated. Next China releases their stronger currency (they now keep it artificially low) and the world will again buy from the US even more. What about non-US based companies and people employed there?

USA, Canada / 2008 U.S. Presidential Election according to Polish and foreign people [90]

For me the most interesting would be win of: Obama (D) and Romney (R). If McCain wins, he has no chance to beat either Obama or Clinton so on day one the money for the campain he has he had better donate to charities. That should at least in a very small part compensate the billions of dollars they have wasted while Bush was a president.

UK, Ireland / Polish Easter celebrations in London [8]

Easter is most a religious celebration for Poles. It's also lent time so no big celebrations are practiced. Going to church and praying is what most Poles do at Easter time.

Life / Popular myths and legends of Poland [15]

Is this similar to the "Robin Hood" legend?

Yes Janosik is a Polish version of "Robin Hood" (even though he lived in a cave of the Tatra mountains, near Zakopane supposedly).

For example about "Janosik", a man from the Polish Tatra mountains, who supposedly took the things from the rich and gave it away to the poor.

Life / Obtaining Polish Health Insurance [7]

Being a student you get a student's ID and then go to your local clinic and sign for insurance. This is at least what I think, but I could be wrong as I don't live in Poland now. But it shouldn't be a big problem if you are a formal student in Poland. Being a student can you work? if you can, you can just fill for an unemployment and then you are 100% sure to be covered.

Life / Obtaining Polish Health Insurance [7]

Being a student you should automatically get health insurace. It's not costly at all like in the US and students are eligible as well as unemployed.

News / Alchemy Polish vodka commercial - "Polaks innovations" [48]

I found an article about it in a Polish newspapers. It is regarding a commercial of a Polish vodka. It is supposed to be funny and for me it is. But mostly it was done this way to bring controversy and for advertising controversy is everything. But it says Poles are outraged with that. Any opinions?

News / Poland and satellites in space [17]

Interesting question. My guess is Poland doesn't have its own satellites (maybe has some shared military ones, but not sure).

UK, Ireland / gay guys in London seek surrogacy female [134]

The other problem with gays is that they are "open" to any form of "experiments" and radical behaviors. I estimate 9 in 10 gays would have nothing against human cloning because their minds and bodies are very "open" and "democratic" to all forms of ideological freedoms and social deviant experiments.

So it's not only about gays homosexuality, it's their way of life and thinking that is dangerous to the human kind in general. Even if a gay couple doesn't necessarily raise gay children, they WILL raise a child that has impaired views on important social matters.

Ignoring the main points? OK, my main point is - "what if all our children become gays"? You would obviously have nothing against children you raise to be gays, what if all parents in the world feel the same? How much longer the human population would exist? You want to take children from "the world of the straights" - what can you give in return?

What do you as gays have to offer to the human kind other than refined sexual pleasures?

UK, Ireland / gay guys in London seek surrogacy female [134]

You can compare being gay to being addicted to alcohol. Gays are addicted to their own sex, alcoholics are addicted to alcohol. Gays hang out in gay communities, alcoholics hang out with other people who like binge drinking. Would any of these communities be good for the child? I don't think so. That's why they won't allow alcohol-addicts to adopt children and they should not allow gay couples adopt children.

Any form of addiction is not good for a child.

To all you who say gay couples shouldn't adopt - how would you feel if I said Polish people shouldn't adopt?

Why do you compare apples to oranges? The question is about GAY couples and you try to manipulate it to get your point by comparing gay couples with "ALL POLISH PEOPLE". Compare UK gay couples to Polish gay couples.

Just because gay couples can't have their own biological children doesn't make them unfit for parenthood - or do you think infertile couples shouldn't be allowed to adopt either?

So why healthy and fertile gay couples cannot have their own biological children? The nature - that have been working for billions of years on this planet - has decided it is not possible and no good for the human population.

Life / Polish Green Card [23]

Well, it's not permenently - but 3 months indeed. But that should be enough time to arrange a permanent stay in Poland - I don't know the details how to do it but I'm sure you'll get a work permit if your spouse is a Polish citizen and you are a US citizen.

There's no such think as "Polish green card"; you can go and stay in Poland without any special permit like in the US.

News / Radoslaw Sikorski (Polish minister of foreign affairs)- what is the deal? [5]

Can someone explain to me what's up with Radoslaw Sikorski, the Polish minister of foreign affairs? Whenever I hear news from Poland he's the main figure. As far as I can tell he's just one of several ministers in the government run by Donald Tusk (Polish prime minister). Why is he trying to be in the news flash all the time? He thinks he's the next Wladyslaw Sikorski or something? Or he just does what Tusk tells him to do - to make the Polish president's job more difficult and/or compromise him when there's a chance.

Is it overall good for Poland to have so "independent" and conflicting minister? Especially that he used to have a British citizenship and his wife is.. an American? How strategically-safe it is for Poland to have such a person on so high governmental position?
