domesticated ducks are not good in flying. You must be a wild one then.

USA, Canada / Polonia in USA - Happy 4th of July! [42]

I just came from a SPECTACULAR fireworks show, with patriotic songs blasting from huge speakers in background, and an estimated 40,000 people gathered around. There were 4 of us, drinking beer, snacking on crackers & cheese...with cherries for dessert, hanging out afterwords. The weather is just perfect and it was a perfect evening.

It's going to be hard to get up tomorrow morning...

Life / Polish Men and Fashion [90]

why not try to dress just right or even 'overdress'?

I do...just for special occasions.. I want to be comfortable, when I travel. I would take with me the fanciest dress I could find and afford, if i were going to let's say a wedding. I have to wear conservative clothes at work, so any chance I get, I roam around in comfortable clothes. I love them. No pink rollers in my hair when grocery shopping though... :)

Life / Polish Men and Fashion [90]

I have to say that people in Poland "overdress". I feel so under dressed in my jeans and T-shirts, when I visit my family. Even, when we go for a stroll in the park, my nieces are wearing high hills and dressy clothes, and here I am, wearing gym shoes...

Oh, oh, another polish custom died in The US... No more rosol and schabowy for sunday dinner? lol. Anyway, the aroma of baked/pan fried/boiled/grilled sasuage...can't beat it. I'm getting hungry.

News / A thought on Poland! [140]

- I've heard stories about those 'gas chambers' but don't know much about what they were like. How did they look? Is there e.g. any credible photo of them?

Puzz, I went to Oswiecim (Auschwitz), when I was in 6th grade (long time ago) :)
I still remember the horror of this place. Not to mention, the stories from people who were actually there and survived (including my uncle). The camp was built to kill people, and it is just one of many.

Food / wiejska sausage - do you cook it / peel it? [22]

I see, regionp that you got the names under control :) How about the "white" uncooked polish sausage? I love making it with peepers, onions and mushrooms in a tomato sauce, kind of italian style. Ask your wife to make it, or better yet, make it yourself... Delicioso.

Any of the sausages mentioned can be put on the grill and today is the day! I hope it will not rain this afternoon.

Good luck to you. All the best with the surgery.
In a few hours, when people in Poland get up someone from Jedrzejow may respond...who knows! :)

Genealogy / Looking for Malgorzata Musial, Jedrzejow [22]

I know Jedrzejow pretty well and the address looks like a typical, residential one.
You call her a friend...why didn't you keep in touch?

UK, Ireland / Unemployed due to Polish who work in the UK [126]

When I do my shopping we do it in silence as we do not want to advertise our 'polishness'.

Michal, your are polish pretending to be English, aren't you? lol

USA, Canada / It's Official... I'm finally moving to Canada... [76]

after this is Shawn and he must be pampered. Tauruses love pampering!

Well, my brother is not Taurus (born Jan 13th - whatever the sign is), but he is a forest engineer, majored in forestry.
He takes a very good care of his back yard 'forest". I'm sure "Shawn" would be pampered!
I hope Witek's family have one, it would be easy, but I know my brother would be very happy to get the seeds really from Canada... original.. :)

many tree nurseries can there possibly be in Poland

I don't know, but i suspect many, very many. However, my brother did not find any Cad [
maple trees in any when he called.

Oh, the seed looks PRICELESS!!! Can you watch for them in the fall and send me some?
Make it 'who will find the most seeds" game for the kids in the fall - I suppose.

I would ask my brother to name the tree Shawn...

grammer

I would not be so quick to criticize others if I were you ...
We all just type, mostly in a hurry and slip now and then. Besides, this is not a spelling bee contest.

Life / Polish Kids - Polish speaking? Bilingual? only English? [56]

Language is a living thing. You don't use it - you lose it. I can still read Russian, but I can not speak or understand it (some words maybe). I used to be quite fluent in French- not any more...but I'm happy, I can keep Polish and English alive. :)

Work / American Lawyer in Poland [6]

The laws in Poland are still murky. People don't practice suing over anything - yet. Maybe you want to start a trend? It could be quite helpful to many unjustly hurt people (for any reason) who don't even think about getting a lawyer...
