UK, Ireland / Polish woman shot in London. [57]

An armed police officer wouldn't have prevented the recent deaths that I have read about.

Very true Wroclaw. Treating the symptons will not work.

not crew english people G just the a$$hole who did this.

It would be nice to wait and see if the two gunmen were English first anyway. That part of London has a number of Yardie and Albanian drug gangs and if this was indeed a drug related shooting there is a reasonable chance they were not English

Life / Indian moved to Poland [532]

Indya,

I worked in PL for an English company before Poland joined the EU. Like you I had a multiple entry work visa. I did not need any form of resident permit even - the only ID I needed was my passport. My compant obtained Pesel and NIP numbers for me and handled all my tax affairs. There was a reciprocal taxation agreemnt between the UK and Poland so I paid no local taxes or insurances. Having spent more than the required number of days in Poland in any one year I was subject to Polish tax and national insurances. At the end of the tax year our accountants settled the reduction in UK taxes and the amount due to the Polish authorities and they paid any differences. So I cannot help you a great deal. You need to talk to your company HR people to see what they are doing for you. I just hope they are legitimate and are not attempting to defraud the Polish authorities.

DO I NEED to get them

Visa sounds OK but surely you have to have Pesel and NIP unless you are being taxed under a reciprocal agreement with India?

UK, Ireland / Polish teenager murdered after arriving in UK [117]

I hope things work out for the family.

I do too. What I really hope for is that my country can curb the rise in violent crime to prevent more inncoecent people having to go through what this poor family are going through now.

we were in London walking at night and felt very safe.

It's a big place. There are many areas where I wouldn't walk at any time of the day.

All I wanted to say is that I hate people generalizing when it comes to any sphere of life.

I agree. Nice post. Glad you enjoyed the city of my birth. We can be scallies but overall it's a geat city.

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

The leader of Poland's main opposition party, Donald Tusk, is campaigning in the UK and the Irish Republic ahead of a election in Poland in October.

This is one Pole I would rather not have over here. The last thing we need is any more politicians, be they Polish, Punjabi, or Innuit. We've got eough of the useless cretins of our own already.

UK, Ireland / The British royal family are looking to recruit Poles to work for them [14]

I DONT MIND WIPING HER ASS FOR 20K PER YEAR

Quite. To serve one's Queen, in any capacity, is a high honour indeed. Besides this would not be the worst job I've ever had Derek.

CLIVE:
The worst job I ever had was with Jayne Mansfield. You know, she was a fantastic bird, you know .....
DEREK:
Yeah, yeah.
CLIVE:
..... big t*ts, huge bum, and everything like that, but I had the terrible job of retrieving lobsters from her bum.

Love / Dating age difference - my 16 yo is dating a 26 yo Polish guy [102]

all but two states require a couple be age 18 in order to marry without parental consent

I love it. You can get married at 18, drive a car at 6 (or whatever age it really is) .... but you have to be 21 to get a beer?

Travel / My opinion on Gdansk and Poland after 11 days [45]

In Dirty Pretty Things, Audrey Tautou's character Senay Gilik lives in a flat overlooking Ridley Road's street market.

Is Senay dirty and Dalston pretty or is it the other way round?

And also Fassett Square was the inspiration for the BBC Soap EastEnders

lovely old independent cinema

Wow - so the Rio is still open?

Let's go further. The current occupants are all of Germanic or Greek descent. So let's find Prince William a nice Polish girl and have a Polish Queen next. Bigos at the next garden party and out with the cucumber sandwiches.

On a more serious note I've heard that you earn every penny working in the Royal Household.

UK, Ireland / Any poles here who live in north west of England ? [49]

I doubt Bart has enough time to read it, not now anyway....

True the pubs of Sauchiehall Street will have emptied as the regulars form mean vigilante groups baying for Bart's blood.
