History / Polish Resistance Pardoned? [11]

unfortunately many Polish Resistance members were killed by commies. Comunists treated them as a enemies of the state. They fought for free Poland and didn't accept the soviet 'occupation'.

I dont like touristy things so out of season will be just right.

it's always crowdy. i don't like it. the best pubs are in the Kazimierz area. more 'locals' less tourists. great atmosphere. and when summer is gone there gonna be a lot of students. a lot of hot female students ;)

Great but forgotten - Lisowczycy - the light cavalry :

Lisowczycy (also known as Straceńcy ('lost men' or 'forlorn hope') or chorągiew elearska (company of elears) - the name of an early 17th century irregular unit of light cavalry, mostly form Grand Duchy of Lithuania, as their leader Aleksander Józef Lisowski was. The Lisowczycy took part in many battles across Europe and the historical accounts of the period characterized them as extremely agile, warlike, and bloodthirsty

The Lisowczycy took part in many conflicts, including the Dymitriads (where their actions help explain the text of the infamous placard in Zagorsk: three plagues: typhus, Tatars, and Poles)

Everyone on September 1st take one minute out of your time for silence and remember thoses who lost their liv es during WW2 and those who fought for Poland.

always do. thank you LAG

Well, they fought for the defeat of Nazi Germany, more than for Poland tho.

inscription at the foot of the polish cemetery at Monte cassino :

"Passerby, tell Poland that we fell faithfully in her service. For our freedom and yours, we Polish soldiers gave our souls to God, our bodies to the soil of Italy, and our hearts to Poland."

"Przechodniu powiedz Polsce, żeśmy polegli wierni w jej służbie. Za naszą i waszą wolność my żołnierze polscy oddaliśmy Bogu ducha, ciało ziemi włoskiej, a serca Polsce".
