History / germany prepares for invasion of Poland [43]

amazing war machine

Agreed.....had it not been for Herr Hitlers constant interference the German army would have been a lot harder to beat , perhaps impossible....

News / Polish engineer beheaded in Pakistan. [347]

I think that they know nothing

Polish reporters have spoken to the guy who was in touch with the group who killed him , he has named the group , they are known to local people....and i suspect by now their location is known....

News / Polish engineer beheaded in Pakistan. [347]

Some people doubted me when i said the Polish government knew the identity of ther scum who beheaded this Polish man.....Today on the news they announced....that they knew who the killers were.....The reward money has been put up so the government does not have to admit to getting these bad guys , they know that somebody will come forward to do the job... i can think of several people who might be packing a bag right now......

Did you see the guy who threw the shoe at President Bush in Iraq? Do you know he was beaten up by the Iraqi cops, suffered some broken ribs?

I bet a few security guys got the sack over that....he should have been nailed before the shoe left his hand......

The scum who killed the Polish engineer are , i am sure living on borrowed time , and somebody will find them , and deal with them.....More than likely it won,t make the news , but for sure they won,t get away with it...

UK, Ireland / POLISH SUICIDES IN THE UK [21]

I think the pressure to succeed is very great , and those that don,t make it seem ashamed to admit defeat and go back home....I think too many Poles set off for the UK with geat visions of how wonderfull life is there , and don,t have a backup plan if things don,t work out....

UK, Ireland / POLISH SUICIDES IN THE UK [21]

polskieradio/thenews/human-interest/?id=102217 Rising Polish suicides in UK
From Polish news..

Created: 12.02.2009 11:58
According to Poland's Deputy Consul in Manchester, suicides committed in north England and Wales constitute one third of Polish deaths in Great Britain.

The rate is even higher in southern England, where industry is less developed and there are fewer job opportunities for unskilled or semi-skilled Poles.

The case of 22-year-old Pawal Lipinski, who killed himself last year in Bradford, northern England, is one of a growing trend of suicides, says the organization.

Psychologists say loneliness, lack of money and shame of not getting a proper job or not making enough money are to blame for an increasing amount of Poles feeling trapped in the UK with no prospects.

In the UK, men born between 1978 and 1984 are most likely to take their own lives. (is)

UK, Ireland / Polish people in an english army [85]

Hundreds of Polish people gave their lives fighting for the British during WW2

I think a good deal more than just hundreds.....The Poles fighting at Monte cassino in Italy had to be withdrawn from the battle because of the huge number of casualties , they did however take the position after other units had tried and failed to capture it....

Travel / I am free - Hello Poland. Need advice about travelling in Poland. [16]

I understand a car with UK plates could pose a target

No . the fact you are a Brit won,t be a problem , the natives are very friendly , but if you are parked in a quiet lay by with a registration number that says you are from another country , and possibly with more money than the local baddies can earn in a month you may become a target of beggers and thieves out to make a fast buck.....I have camped alone all over Poland , and into the badlands of Russia , Belarus , and Ukraine , and i never had a problem , but then i had a 4 x 4 which meant i could drive into the forest a few meters from the road and camp in peace , i worked on the principle that if nobody knows you are there , they ain,t going to do you any harm...

If you are going to leave your car unatended , i suggest you pay a very small fee and leave it in a guarded car park , you can find them in most decent sized towns....Other good places to kip are service stations hidden in among the truck drivers , these guys sleep in their cabs , so at least you are not alone as you sleep..

I did six months of driving a small truck in Poland , and slept in all kinds of places , never had any problems , apart from naughty ladies knocking on the window once or twice , but they don,t bother you if you are asleep.... a blow up brown bear , now that sounds pretty kinky , but it might work on scaring people away....!

Life / Car Window Tinting - is it legal in Poland? [20]

but it has happened to me with cars without tint also

I agree with you there...most of the time they don,t see you because they don,t look...Apparently Polish law says you can,t have much of a tint , but i see quite a few cars with windows that look as if they have been sprayed black with paint . so i guess the cops do not bother too much enforcing this law....I think in Poland , as long as you don,t take the p*ss and be polite to the cops they wont bother you too much.....

Travel / In the footsteps of the 51st Highland Division (but by motorcycle) [13]

Hey wildro, how many english ex bikers live in Poland. Maybe someone should add retired british bikers to the list of minorities living in Poland .

Ha , retired...i wish , never worked so hard in my life...and thats just keeping the grass cut on the farm....I guess there must be a few of us Brit bikers out here , but i don,t know of any organised groups....

Wildrover, thanks for the kind offer. I'll be on a BMW GS but I might be with a Harley-riding friend! I've been reading some of your other posts and I guess you must be near Dobroslaw?

I have got a Harley myself...and the location of my old farm is on the 173 route between Drawsko pomorskie and Polczyn zdroj...near a town called Ostrowice....you will be welcome , if its on your route....

As a fellow biker living in Poland i can help you out with free camping at my old farm...not so far from Malbork , and maybe i can ask my friends ( also English ex bikers ) living near Zagan to let you sling a tent there....Lots of military history in Poland , and in my opinion a great place to tour on a bike....
