ski

This would be pointless to continue this discussion. If number of people having influence on state affairs is reduced, it means that we are moving away from democracy, towards monarchy. You are free to claim that black is white or otherwise, I can live with that.

insulting a disabled person and mocking her religion

Nothing like TV-invented left-wing 'intellectuals'. :)

News / Why are foreigners coming to Poland and from which countries? [119]

By the matter of fact, Poland is not the strongest economy per capita in the east. If you mean not per capita then this is non-achievement.

Relax people, noimmi is pissed off because he lost his job in some toilet. :)

3rd may consitution was step in democratic direction. When we look on futher plans of it's authors we are sure what they wanted to do after abolishing veto.

Sorry but you are in historic denial. OK, let analyze this case step by step.

1. Nobleman whom were not landowners were stripped the right to vote. Yes or not?

2. Nobody gained the right to vote instead. Yes or not?

Thus in general much less people had the right to vote.

Additionally king gained some additional competences. Read this constitution, it is short and available online.

As far as "liberum veto" is concentrated... This law was to the same extend anti-democratic and anti-monarchical. It was simply stupid, because completely unpractical. So, by abolishing veto our country moved towards democracy and monarchy to the same extend. However as I mentioned earlier other paragraphs of this constitution reduced democracy.

With which part of this short analyze do you disagree and why?

Why not ? It is thread about Jew.

About Szczuka? If somebody would start to write about Jewish bolhevicks, I suppose you would not be very glad.

I am not surprised you try to prove that democracy isn't good system when your far right-wing political fraction is famous form strange views on different issues. Showing the best Polish achievments in strange light proving that democracy is mistake (yes I know that you don't like democracy).

You disappoint myself. In this thread I just showed your misinterpretation of Polish history. You don't argue with my statements, because these are just historic facts. If you want to talk about democracy itself then open new thread. I did not make any analyzes of political systems in this topic.

Also unlike you, I don't care who has Jewish roots, so you don't need to empathize this when you discuss with me.

News / What if Poland has decided to withdraw from the European Union? [54]

And how do you explain the US misery (not in the EU the last time I looked....)

I wrote about this issue in my thread about the EU.

Germany at least is thriving right now...and so are others competitive economies!

Yeah, we already discussed this issue. German economy with 1% of the GDP grow is in serious stagnation.

Do you really think all these little europeaen countries would be better off alone for themselves in the world of the big blocks (US market? Chinese market?)

How many EU institutions and bureaucrats is necessary to keep free trade and free travel zone in Europe? The answer is 0. Because of their activity, European countries struggle. Note that Asian states prosper because they chose completely different model of the country.

Poles won't block Lisbon, says Sarkozy

May I ask, who made this order?

History / The Jewish King Of Poland [67]

Magnats were stronger in 1500s or 1700s ?

They gained more rights from the king, so one could say that this was step towards democracy.

When was the first time when veto was used in way that parlament couldn't continue it's work ? :)

1652With time foreign states discovered this possibility to sabotage Polish parliament works.

Why ? :) because it abolished liberum veto ?

No, because nobleman without land (szlachta golota) could not vote anymore.

Later elites became stronger and system became weaker.

How elites could become stronger with liberum veto around?

but our authorative neighbours couldn't accept country with such rights because it would be a problem for their authorative rulers.

On other hand they needed to bribe one nobleman to block developments they disliked.

Poland is nice example of democracy superiority.

3rd may constituion was good idea but it was to late and enemies were to strong ...

You are inconsistent here. 3rd May Constitution reduced 'democracy'.

News / Daniel Libeskind -Polish Jew supporting Poland [19]

Why is it an American architect who designs buildings in Poland and is paid big money for it rather than a Polish or EU architect?

I'm curious how many Australians were asking why some Polish architect designed olympic stadium in Sydney? Why not some Australians, perhaps Aborigines? I guess you want old good Soviet realities back again. Palace of Culture was designed by people from "our camp".

News / Poland Rejects US Missile Shield (talks will continue...) [80]

I think if Poland pays for it then it gives a foreign power that much less influence in Polish affairs.

If offered a bribe, Polish politicians are always ready to surrender some competences to foreign states. The only problem is that soon they will have nothing to sell.

News / What if Poland has decided to withdraw from the European Union? [54]

Every year the Polish national budget contains planned deficit of about 7 billion euros to cover all expenses but increasing the national debt.

Do you think that additional free 5 billion euros from EU is just a drop???

Let stop with spendings, that is very simple solution (and the only one to finally resolve this problem). Cash from eurocrats is not free, they impose on our country whole bureaucratic apparatus which caused economic stagnation on the west.

Tadeusz Mazowiecki - first PM in free Poland ( of Jewish decent)

Yeah, compare more politicians of current times to those Polish Jews whom deserve some credit. Then for sure many Poles will think that the latter were such a "heroes" like Mazowiecki. (who has just Jewish roots anyway)

Strange, because Mazowiecki has always been a confirmed Catholic, since 1950s.

He is so damn religious like vats majority of politicians.

News / The Polish president, Lech Kaczynski, refused to sign the Treaty of Lisbon [43]

The spirit of the treaty is one where nations come together to share and reach broad consensus on a range of issues. By opting out, this jeopardises the very fabric of it.

People voting rather against the treaty. I don't trust Kaczynski and find his Irish excuse pathetic.
He should clearly reject the treaty.

There is nothing left to sign becasue Lisbon is dead.

Correct. Eurocrats needs this just to blackmail the Irish, they voted for the Nice treaty twice before.

- But so did the German President Koehler and the Czech President Klaus

Kohler wont sign before German court decision on this matter. Klaus on other hand is a class act.

The Czech Republic doesn`t matter, while Poland is a heavyweight player among newly acepted countries. If Poland rejects the treaty, it will be a major setback.

Your information is incorrect. The Czech Republic could block everything alone according to the EC own rules. Can you please stick to the rules? Irish rejected, there is no treaty!

My condolences to the Czechs if they would be excluded from decision process while such countries like Poland would be "heave players".

Britain hasn't lost all sovereignty. Has the EU negatively impacted on ur life so directly tornado?

Your as well. Because of this bunch of bureaucrats everything is more expensive.

News / What if Poland has decided to withdraw from the European Union? [54]

Anyway EU stabilizes the macroeconomic environment, the inflation etc and improves the infrastructure

We don't need the EU to have common trade and travel zone in Europe. The EU provide just its useless bureaucratic institutions.

But it does nothing for job creation and wages

Unfortunately they are doing a lot and this is exactly the problem. If they would stop and local politicians follow such trend then problem with unemployment would automatically disappear.

Yes,because you are an unimportant member of the EU which may gain importance some day but to let it happen there have to be some changes first.

What changes? Especially if everything is manipulated from Brussels? They want to create federal state where only central government would have something to say. Brussels bureaucracy grow and grow by taking more and more competences of national states.

If Poland leaves the EU my house will be worth less

No, it depend what policy would be obtained by Polish government. I believe that similar possessions in Switzerland, Liechtenstein or Norway are often worth more than in Poland or other EU countries.

Why you are talking about Kwasniewski ? By the way he isn't Jew.

I care less how he consider himself. Rotfeld was foreign minister in the same time when Kwasniewski was a president. They both were responsible also for Polish "eastern" policy.

Ski mentions Polish Jews fighting for Poland in WWII and you spring out with Jews responsible for torture of countless Poles? Whats that all about?

It reminds me reaction of some American Jews when they read about Poles who saved Jews.

News / What if Poland has decided to withdraw from the European Union? [54]

What if Poland (the Polish government or the society that chose that goverment) one day decided she doesn't want to be a part of the European Union anymore?

Actually the EU don't exist, this is not legal body. What exist is European Community. European Union would be established if Constitution (Lisbon Treaty) would be accepted by all members of the EC.

In this above mentioned treaty this procedure is very unclear and doesn't depend from the will of member state only. In fact nobody really know what would happen if some state decided to leave and eurocrats would oppose such outcome.

This is not a secret that eurocrats plan to build common army. One could wonder what would be the purpose of such army if we already have NATO? Hard to consider such scenarios like Chinese or Muslim invasion of Europe... Even euro-left is not so obsessed with "US-imperialism" to consider this to be serious threat to European security. So, what is the point? They want to run Bush's style of foreign policy, invade Iran? Or perhaps they just want to keep all pieces of the future EU together? :) Barroso talks about empire building. Seriously, can anybody answer to this question, what is the purpose?

Which Polish party would be most likely to pull the strings? PiS, PO, or a completely new party would have to emerge, something very radical?

Like Grzegorz mentioned, don't count on political elites. Those people even if they would not be in Brussels pocket, would not have any idea how to run the country. This generation of people raised under Soviet boot, they need to receive some orders from higher level. This is sad that they run education system in this country in the same direction, they want to impose on younger generations the same mentality which kill creativity.

I would actually welcome it. (Like most Dutch people, I voted against the Euro, and also against the EU membership for Holland.) Like most people, I don't like the EU rules. Like most people, I don't like political desicions being made in Brussels without questioning, without debate, without discussions, without a single vote for civilians. Like most people, I don't like the fact that they don't listen to the people and simply overrule..

This is correct stance of somebody who consider himself a democrat. Such person simply cannot support Brussels bureaucracy because they don't obey to democratic rules.

It should be possible to leave the EU. It worked for Greenland.

Greenland left completely different organization, on other stage of development. Beside of that from the perspective of Brussels bureaucracy obsessed with "control mania", Poland would mean much more for them than Greenland. Also today their greed is much bigger.

What do you mean when you say "become a free country again"?

I think that he means the country which decide about its own future, not any province of the EU-empire.

I wonder why these folks wonder about Poland's leaving the EU rather than about Poland staying in the EU and helping build united Europe?

May I help you with this. Because apparently they care more about individual freedom rather than about empire building. The latter was often never achieved goal of Russian society.

Mine ancestors have moved here 600 years ago, I'm Polish as hell.

So what? It seems to me that you demand some special recognition. Somehow the rest of Poles should be happy and grateful that you consider yourself Polish.

What is your opinion about Rotfeld negotiations with Russia?

You write about the times when Kwasniewski needed to wait half an hour in front of Putin cabinet till Russian president mercifully let him in? "Our" politicians did nothing to improve Polish-Russian relations.

News / ARE LATVIANS AND OTHER 'BALTICS' HOSTILE TOWARDS POLES? [60]

- You mean that the majority of Poles don't really think - only you're the one who really thinks? Very respectful towards your countrymen.

Well, true hurt sometimes... Of course I'm not the only one, however still part of 'minority'. In your opinion I should 'respect' some people only because they are my countrymen? In my opinion 'respect' should be earned. I would say that I tolerate "them", according to proper definition of 'tolerance'. As one Columbian thinker wrote, we should keep in mind that the things ('people' in this case) we 'tolerate' don't deserve for anything more.

- What 'organization' would that be? Does it follow the actvity of the organization in question is known to you only?

Speaking about "the only ones", I would say, that you are the only one who read this post and don't realize that this is about the EU. Congratulation.

- Do you mean the topic is evidence I'm 'specialist from "phobias"' (sic)? Why? And what do you specifically mean by my being 'a specialist from "phobias"' (sic)?

Don't be so modest, to expose polonophobia in Latvia is a great achievement.

- Do you? What is my positon then?

You pretty well stated your position below:

- And what specifically do you mean in the above sentence? The EU is a vast bureaucracy; it cannot be otherwise. Some of the aspects of the bureaucracy are positive, others negative. We can change the negative aspects. The view that the EU is like the Soviet Union is incorrect and actually amusing. Unlike the Soviet bureaucracy, the EU bureaucracy is fully reformable.

This is beyond your imagination to realize a state not founded on 'vast bureaucracy'. However because this word, "bureaucracy" have a bad connotation you declare that some mysterious reform is necessary (possible). This is just another thing that you don't understand, bureaucracy should be drastically reduced and not reformed in any way. This is pointless to change few words in law which establish some completely unnecessary regulations.

By the way, Poland is actually part of EU now, and happy and proud of it.

- I'm speaking for myself

Are you Poland?

it agrees with what the vast majority of Poles think

Actually few of them "think", like this girl who dislike unknown country, they support organization that activity is unknown for them.

And yes, I'm not speaking for Europhobes. Are you one of those?

Look at the headline of topic that you started, you are a specialist from "-phobias". I would describe myself to be EU-hater with a reason.

I really understand your position, for a PiS supporter this is not much of effort to switch from Polish bureaucracy to this based in Brussels.
