Life / the prospects for living in poland without any nationality [7]

I guess you always have some kind of nationality (are there any countries that don't have nationality nowadays?). You have to be a Polish citizen to buy a property without problems in Poland; or be an investor and buy as a business entity.

Life / Pope Jan Paweł II [16]

Real Estate / Bad news for house self-builders in Poland (building material cost up) [15]

Not sure how it would work though. So the government one day says "OK, we increase taxes 300% for building materials"? Or the major Polish manufacturers or importers say the same? The price should be regulated by supply-demand (in a civilized world at least).

Real Estate / Selling commercial property in Poland [22]

Hmm - why don't you wait a couple more years? The property will be worth at least twice as much as it is worth now.

At least based on the comments of some members here. :)

Law / Poland's Home Improvement Market? [14]

In my opinion, home improvement businesses in Poland aren't going to thrive. The reason is that every second Pole considers himself as a home imporvement expert and most families will do home improvement jobs on their own.

Study / Medicinal Chemistry in Wroclaw University [3]

You must be a really good student to find a good job in Poland (as Polish people are great chemists). It also depends on your specialisation (working in a pharmacy could be a profitable business in Poland).

Related:

my son is in wroclaw he is studying M.Eng. medicinal chemistry.
during his vacation starting from july to sept 2008 he needs a job

Life / Polish denial of reality - is it a national trade? [117]

Poland is just getting started....

Right. But in the meantime I feel sorry for all "Olas" or "Polaks" and other young people who have no choice, but to stay in Poland and build it for the next generations. Just like their parents in the socialism era...

Life / Polish denial of reality - is it a national trade? [117]

I think the bottom line is that most Poles living in Poland (70%) have it harder to make ends meet or just to lead a normal life than most people living in the "richer" countries. Get an average salary in Poland versus the UK or US and see how much less things you can afford for that.

So the buying power of your money (the goods you can purchase for your average salary you make in the country you live) is the bottom line. Poland has still a lot to do to improve it.

Why don't you sign up, North Pole? I was a guest for a few months too but then it was easier to become a member.

Life / Moving a family to Poland, any info, advice needed [51]

Great post, Polak; many valid points. On the other hand, I don't think those people who want to move to Poland have hard time to make ends meet -- they are mostly well-off people who find Poland attractive for other reasons than "getting rich". But I agree those who think it's easier to live in Poland than in the US/Canada/GB, having an average job, are very mistaken.

Real Estate / Foreigners: Please don't buy Polish Land! [823]

Whoever got the money will take it over. Possibly "the winners" will be:

1. Foreigners with cash.
2. Poles working abroad with cash.
3. Rich Poles living in Poland.

The rest are the average Polish working class (80%) who will afford to pay off M-3 apartment throughout their lives.

In result I'm not surprised Ola or her peers from Poland could be anxious..

Real Estate / Foreigners: Please don't buy Polish Land! [823]

Wise words, Larry. But the idea of Poland becoming a country with empty houses (full only in summer when the weather is nice and the Polish or foreign owners come for vacation from the countries they make money to afford those houses in Poland) is not good either.
