UK, Ireland / Polish Immigrants in England - and their Cultural Impressions [36]

Some polish people I overheard talking about their experiances at work ommented that when they arrived in britian they shook with fear because they thought they had travelled to the future.

i overheard some polish people who came to scotland to study the law at some scotish university that when they came here they thought that the ice age has ended a long time ago.then you came out of the whole...

UK, Ireland / Polish Immigrants in England - and their Cultural Impressions [36]

Do they think British people waste a lot of money?

i dunno.probably not more than any other nation.

people feel strange here

absolutely not

How do they react on the British pub culture

it's a waste of time.so called" socializing" is just another word, just nicely wrapped, for drunkeness.i see hundreds of drunk people coming back home near my flat each thursday friday and sunday.lots of people seem to have no other alternative to spend their free time.

And how do they think about family values in Little Britain?

i think that kids here grow up too quickly.they should have more time to be kids.

And what is quite different to Polish culture

not a lot to be honest.i found it easy to adjust.

UK, Ireland / UK bus company boss jailed for hiring an incompetent Pole [71]

I hate to defend noimi rafik but he is right. The driver is suposed to be a professional and he should have been aware of what was in the road. He should have made absolutly sure that the road was passable. To say that he couldn't see bacause of the sun viser is a lame excuse.

i could partly agree with him but saying that the driver is guilty because he was polish is as just ridiculous as most of his threads.supposedly you don't speak too much polish but this doesn't make you a bad driver, does it?.how many words one need to know to read the road signs?if the cherry picker was parked on the road why there was no temporary lights or a high visibility triangle, fence on the street?the ch. picker was probably parked on the pavement with the basket hanging over the street. in this case there should be some protection on the street. the driver was concentrating on the road and the sun visor was down.it is not perfect excuse though.he should have been aware that things like that may come pop up and know how to deal with it.still,i think, that it was just a chain of very unfortunate events.why the driver was lost?if they employed so many polish there should be at least one person in the offices who could translate/help.fortunately for the driver the court saw where the guilt lied.unfortunately one young man died and the tragedy should have been prevented if all appriopriate safety regulations were in place.

the whole thread is ridiculous.this guy has no arguments.the newspapers like this obscure facts or cut the story short so people like noimmi can expand it or finish it.

the driver was cleared by the court the bosses jailed.the driver couldn's see the basked that's it.noimmi go back to kindergarden.

why is it degoratory?don't make things up.it's just a funny word.
if anyone called them ni..ers then ok i can agree.we call the french "zabojady"-frogeaters because of what they eat and nobody says that it's wrong to say that.

UK, Ireland / UK bus company boss jailed for hiring an incompetent Pole [71]

this post is saying that, it is ridiculous that we are employing incompetent eastern european immigrants, who come here and cant even speak english.
This polish bus driver couldnt even read road signs that expressed danger.

wiltshiretimes.co.uk/news/chippenhamnews/display.var.2351008.0.0.php?act=complaint&cid=1677030

there is a short story from wiltshire.the driver speaks very good english because he is english, could read the signs but failed to inform his employer that he was a disqualified driver.what can you say about this guy noimmi?

i read the story you gave us to read and tell me who was guilty in this case?a bus driver who grabbed the opportunity to earn for his living or the greedy english?how the driver from my story compares with the driver from your story?

Now can you solve Justysia's other word problem?

unfortunately not. i'm not familiar with the chav's world;)

Probably because the spots many have on their skin.

maybe it is another reason.i remember that we started calling our workmates like that cuz chapati was the only word we could understand in punjabi.we haven't heard this word form anyone else.it came easily..

Mispronounced chapati?

it is not mispronunced but slightly changed to make it sound more polish.ciapaty sound like a polish word which means "spotted". they are called like that because of chapati-their bread.

News / March of Tolerance in Krakow [478]

on the Roman Catholic Church/Vatican

don't pick on the whole church because a few bad apples mate.there is an equal share of perverts amongst muslims ,hindu, jewish ect.don't think that being 1/25 polish makes you more credible to say that.if you are ashamed of your polish heritage, because of opinions about certain people, well, you have a problem here.do you only admit having polish heritage on pulaski's day?i have never heard of any american being ashamed of being american because of ku-klux-klan.if you want to argue with grzegorz then use diffrent argument.

that Poland is a "backward" country

do not want to deal with Poland because of this ultra-conservative thinking of government

is this why poland is top of the list for investment?get your facts straight before you say anything.

Stories like the Teletubbie are brought up in mainstream media, and I shake my head...

i don't support the way that the issue was raised but i can imagine where they were coming from.basically we don't want any cartoons/stories for children with gay episodes.i remember that (i think it was in spain may be wrong though) that a cartoon was to be introduced as a part of kids education called "Ali baba and 40 gays".why kids need to watch that sh.it?i wouldn't like my child to watch BOLEK kissing LOLEK all in the name of so called education.

Love / Polish Gay Life [142]

take two guys and make them walk holding hands in the centre of some little Polish town on a Sunday afternoon. Good luck!

do the same in a centre of a little rural town in england, wales or scotland and same thing will happend. i work in a very english place, where there is no foreigners and they do not pretend to be someone who they aren't.using words:faggot, queer in not a very nice way or saying jokes about gays is an every day thing.people here, won't do anything when they see such a couple but they will have their "opinion".you guys live on clouds level.step down to earth and listen.you may hear something.

let's make an experiment. most of you don't mind gay people and say that it is "normal" to make love with the same sex.simple question;

how many of you would be happy if they siblings or children were gay?
rafik

Love / Polish Gay Life [142]

than you clearly don't understand what gay rights are about.

oh yes i do.here in the uk being gay can make one's life(and quite often do) easier.gays seem to have more rights than straight people.

gay people were not judged or persecuted

tell me;when the last time someone was persecuted for being gay?

It is alos about the government trying to impose certain behaviours on people

what government what behaviour?gay people can do whatever they want.these stupid parades are not necessary at all.it shouldn't be about sex but unfortunatlely,on most occassions ,it is.people aren't put off by 2 men holding their hands but by clearly sexual behaviour in public.

but private things

exactly.let's keep it in private.i don't need to see kissing men.it's distastful.it's my right to choose what i want to see.

Love / Polish Gay Life [142]

So what your saying rafik is it's ok to be gay as long as you keep it a secret and don't let "normal" people see that your gay?

i didn't say "secret".i said to keep it in private.i clearly said that in my previous post.
if i liked anal sex would it be ok to parade on the streets because of that?

Love / Polish Gay Life [142]

lots of the polish people don't mind gay people unless they are too openly gay.we don't like people coming out with their sexuality.keep it quiet don't be arrogant and you will be ok.say ; someone likes shagging sheeps.that's fine.it's not my problem unless one would like to do it on my door step or in front of my family.there was a brothel near the place i used to live.it has been open for about 2 years because the w.hores stayed inside behind the drawn curtains.later the place was closed but the local people weren't the reason.nobody said a word.lots of gay people do not understand that straight people don't like genitals put in front of our faces so that all kind of gay pride parades are not accepted and will be causing problems in poland.so,again, keep it for yourself and you will be ok.as for being black.you would be ok in poland .there are hundreds or even thousends black students in poland and they not are beaten or killed.it there are some idiots out there.that's true.but it is not worse than in any other european country.

Life / JERZY OWSIAK - PRO AND CON? [8]

Some critics say he saves the lives of newborns so he can deprave them when they make it into their teens

first of all.this is just one event.how is it possible to deprave someone in a day or two?
my friends were on przystanek and loved it.there was no violence(or very little) no rapes and murders.nobody forced them to take drugs.those people who like drugs they will take it anywhere and anytime.

owsiak did more than all charities in poland all together.he was attacked by lots of people, especially some catholic organisations with radio maryja leading the witch hunt.the reason?he is competition to some catholic charity organisations e.g.caritas.the problem is that he is so straightforward and clear(finances) in what he is doing and his work made him famous.despite all the dirty attacks lots of people love him and support him

Sorry to disagree but that has nothing to do with it. fees have a lot to do with it, £20,000

yup.you are right but after the uni one can earn 30.000£-40.000 a year insted of 15.000£ a year.it is all about how determined people are to improve their lives.sometimes they just choose the easier way.

UK, Ireland / ARE YOUNG BRITS LESS INTELLIGENT THAN POLES? [56]

Many young Poles in prmary, junior secondary (gimnazjum) and senior secodnary (liceum) schools find the educational level of British schools abysmally low after transferring there. Is this an isolated case, or is the overall level of British education inferior to that of Poland?

secondary education here in the uk seem to be worse than in poland.i read this article and agree with that.however, univeristies are much better.the level of education at the british unis is much higher and the unis are better organised than those in poland.there was an article in one of the polish newspaper where a young polish student have chosen to study in the uk because he could not learn any more at the polish uni.he admired everything about the place.

it seems that a lot of people here choose not to go to university because there is a huge gap between the level of secondary and high education, which is a good thing cuz only the best go further into education.unfortunately those who are not necesarily the most intelligent but rich(e.g.kids of doctors, lawyers bussinesmen or rich ikds from abroad) go through but this is the same in every country..

News / France to lift job restrictions on Poles [84]

Do you mean Walesa's son was wrongly cleared?

he was

- Am I?

it seems so

- How do you know I'm not listening?

i wouldn't be surprised.everything thrown at you seems to "soak" like water from a duck a.ss.you are impregnable,...pal

What if your '80 years old' (sic) and 'strict catholic' (sic) grandma is totally psychoneurotic?

what if you are totally psychoneurotic?RM venom is not a very healthy thing for your brain, dude

... but it's an unnecessary reservation, because the ability to offend any one seems to be totally nonexistent in 'Mr Rafik.'

i only take pleasure from offending a certain type of creatures.so far you don't fit into it puz but you knever now..

News / France to lift job restrictions on Poles [84]

Puzzy

i don't need to prove what has already been proventhe young polish democrracy still is not able to deal with criminals supported by narrow-minded folks.this is why for example, lech walesa's son was cleared after he hit a woman on the z-crossing while driving under influence .as to "gazeta";are you sniffing another jewish plot to destroy polish christian spirit?pathetic.try to listen to the RADIO M for a while and maybe ,one day, you will realise what this people are made of.even my 80 years old, strict catholic grandma said that the amount of venom coming from torun's radio station is unbearable for any normal human being.nevermind, have your opinion.

rafik:
you don't need to insult people, behave like a peasant from 3rd world country to impress others and gain their respect.showing a bit of intelligence ,respect and creative cooperation will do much better.i'm not saying that we have to agree with everything and lick ones ass(like kaczynski's attitude towards americans)

WOW, Mr Rafik reserve to himself the right to offend anybody he dislike but treated in similar manner seems to be offended.

lesser.i was referring to our politicians not to you mate.my bad.

UK, Ireland / Poles singled out as responsible for increase in knife culture [39]

everyone knows that this is the problem amongst blacks and asians.poles don't carry knives, they use fists.this policeman is an idiot.lots of albanians carry knives and they are very often referred to as eastern europeans which is very missleadind.tony blair said that the stabbings are the problem of ethnic minorities.damn it is shame that such a bright politician has gone.

vafankuloo.check names of victims and and all attackers and you will see that 99% of them are blacks or asians.
