I find it strange that in the US, Macaroni Cheese comes in packet, dried pasta with dried sauce. People I spoke to didn't seem to realise that you could make it with pasta and pour a cheese sauce over it. Another odd thing was the poor quality and choice of food in American supermarkets. A limited selection of cheeses, tinned Tuna only in brine (I guess its only eaten as a diet food therefore it has to taste ****).

In the US, quality is all about quantity, not taste. So when you buy prawns they have been chemically injected with water to make them bigger, fluffier and less tasty. Meat is injected with hormones and anti-biotics, fresh tuna is chemically treated to keep its pink colour when its spoilt.

The list goes on (the GMO experiment on unknowing, human subjects), when I stay in the US, Organic is the only food safe to eat.

The question about naming a 'British' car manufacturer is misleading. Does he mean ownership or manufactured in Britain? If he means British owned, then the interviewer is an idiot as well as he named Rolls-Royce as being British. Its not, its, German. Jaguar is Indian, Ford is American. However Some parts of Ford and VW are held by British shareholders.

If he means British manufactured, then many manufacturer's make cars in the UK and could be classified as 'British', British parts and labour.
The only real UK owned and based car manufacturers are companies McClaren (F1) and Ariel Atom. Most F1 cars are British, such as Renault.

The Zloty has appreciated because people have been buying it with Pounds, Euro and dollars. They have been buying property because it was cheap and re-repatriating overseas earnings. Property is no no longer so cheap and overseas investors will disappear with the world wide recession. Wages are increasing at home so workers will return and stop buying Zloty's with remittances. Employment opportunities overseas will also decrease and foreign tourist visitors will be down. Polish exports and attractiveness as a off shore location will decrease.

In a recession its the newer, smaller economies of countries that suffer more, because they depend on foreign investment.

The Dollar is in for a long term fall, to what level its hard to say. It will never be as high as in the past, its a structural revaluation due to banks and investors switching from the US currency as a reserve. The US economy used to be over 50% of the worlds after ww2, now its below 25% and falling. There is nothing to support the Dollar, once confidence has gone it will be impossible to recover as there is the Euro which is far more stable and desirable - EU companies still manufacture and export goods for instance. The US economy is import and consume and its paid for by shipping paper that is devaluing.

The Zloty will not stay as high, in my opinion against most other currencies. Once the world recession hits I suspect the Polish economy will be hit very hard as its very dependant on overseas investors.

In London there is an oversupply of prostitutes, a few months back a brothel shopped the owner to the police because they were so short of customers. They were making so little money they wanted to go home.

No it isn't, it all happened in the same meeting. My father read a book by Stalin's translator about the Yalta conference. They just laughed at Churchill, they thought it ridiculous that Britain could have any influence in the world. When Poland came up US and USSR ignored Churchill's complaints. The US didn't care, the USSR wanted Poland and they got it. Nothing Churchill said mattered.

Bitter? Well the Poles were very depressed about being discarded and felt lost, helpless.

It directly lead to my father eventual suicide, before he killed himself he destroyed all his identity papers and photographs. It ensure that he didn't exist, vanished, I suspect.

It is interesting to see how Britain has changed, 50 years ago foreigners were stared at, life was dull and poverty was rife.

Now Poles come here and complain about the multiculturalism, excessive money and wild behaviour of the British.

Still find friends in the Irish, though.
