Zubrowka can be purchased in the USA.

You can buy it in the US, but it's not the real thing (because of the regulations already mentioned in this thread)--it's not nearly as good. I understand that it's generally no problem to bring it back on a plane in luggage that is checked.

yeah but he wants to ship it as the thread says Its not going to work dont try to mail any liquids in the US

I've heard that it can be shipped in the mail... but I doubt that it's legal.

Polish wives are supposed to be a nightmare lol.Only interested in money and security, nobody I know of is happy after marrying one.Polish blokes take an interest in British women but the one I know are not interested, its all money.

I think that view is overly simplistic and doesn't take in to account all the complexities of the situation.

Further, it's always easy to look back and criticize. The major goal at the time was completing the victory of the war.

Who would have done the fighting? It's easy to tell some other country's soldiers to die over taking a target your people don't have to sacrifice for. Happens all the time...

About the other 'muffin' post... That's a reference to an 'english muffin' which is something that is toasted for the morning's breakfast in the U.S. (they don't actually have these in England).

You'll see that prejudice against Poles is thousandfold worse in US than in England.

This is completely false. Polish people are very well accepted in the U.S.

Getting back the the earlier part of this thread about Polish people coming to the UK (est. 400,000), did you know that 385,000 young UK citizens emigrated to other countries? It sounds like a trade off. Have a look at the link, there are some interesting comments.

Andrzej Tadeusz Bonawentura Kościuszko -- He was a Brigadier General in 1783 in the American Revolutionary War and later became Naczelnik (Commander-in-Chief) of all Polish-Lithuanian forces fighting against Russian occupation in 1794.

The metaphors are really over the top in this thread.

I particularly got a kick out of the 'foam mouse pad' one. :) :)

About the fitness issue in the US... Most don't seem to practice this. When I see even a group of young high school or college kids on a field trip in a city (here in the US), the majority of the young ladies are over weight. This wasn't the case when I was in school. The problem is definitely getting worse.

I've heard it's possible to have wrapped, vacume sealed oscypek sent to the US in the mail, even though it's not supposed to be done (just something I've heard... :)). Had some on Sat. that was heated on the grill! Very good.

These are mostly made by people that have never met Polish people - it's all abstract. No one projects these types of jokes on to actual people they meet...

If you have a decent command of the native language you should do well. It's not always as easy here as some might think ("promised land"). Hard work is required to get by. However, most people don't know a lot about people from Poland and would find you interesting because of that. Those who have some knowledge of Polish history would find you more interesting and be even more welcoming.

There are simply many good remarks here, but I just wonder how many of them come from non-Poles? As an absolutely non-Polish person, I think the praises from outside are more insightful!

From a Non-Pole: I'd say they're lively, talkative, very direct, resourceful and of course we can't forget the Beautiful Women...!
