Love / 2 different cultures or 2 different people [44]

Sorry dude, I have the attention span of a fish... I didn't make it ll the way through your post. But sympathies brother. Sorry for ya.

she started to dictate to me what i would and could not do

My Polish sweetheart did exactly the same! After two months together, no less! One minute I'm flavour of the week, the next my lifestyle must change or she's leaving! I wasn't prepared to do it. I've tried to be someone I'm not for someone else before and in the end I barely recognised myself and I was miserable.

(still making my way through your post...)

i was to be told "i like it when my man shows jealousy"

Uh-oh...

Phew... that was kind of an effort but I finished it. Dude, you need more punctuation in there... even the voice in my head almost ran out of breath!! Heh! :D

Sounds like she played you, mate. You wouldn't be the first. You'll be fine in a year or so. Probably..?

UK, Ireland / Polish Pubs in Scotland. [22]

I like the Grapes :)

Hard Rock Cafe for me. Shakespeare was just nearer at the time and we needed drink like NOW. Shame because we were at Printworks before then but couldn't be arsed walking back.

He was merely trying to say that Im a bit of a scuzzer who drinks in lowly dregs bars! Arh well I can live with that, I doubt I'm ever going to bump into him in Panacea on a Saturday night! ;-)

I thought Wetherspoons was for pompous tofferites? I don't know... I don't get out much. I was in The Shakespeare yesterday though. That's me socialising with the world. The fact that I'm here all the time suggests I don't get out much.

I believe you may be wrong! Have you ever seen anything comparable to a stunning Victorian British Alehouse in Poland? Or do you just hang around in Weatherspoon's?

I'm sure Poland is not without it's architecturally pleasing alehouses too? The Weatherspoon's comment was a bit below the belt though.

Moreover, yeah... I've seen PLENTY more pleasing than a Victorian Alehouse. Just not in a pub! :D

Do we have Polish bars round our way? I heard there is one in Cheetham Hill?? But I ain't goin' to Cheetham Hill to get my drink on!

American Bars are cool. There's one in Tallahassee called Pour Paul's or something. Cool as f*ck! Dark, seedy American bar! Loves it!!!

Life / Looking for childrens books in Polish [20]

satti [Guest]

Waterstones have a entire Polish section now, if you happen to live in Blighty? I bought a couple in the hope of translating them myself. Not as easy as I convinced myself it would be.

Love / My Polish boyfriend fancies are Pakistani neighbor. What do I do ? [291]

Well, we can't control emotions - only our actions. If he acts on his like for the neighbour, kick his ass to next Thursday!! If not, make the f*cker sing for his supper anyway for the rest of your relationship, just for having impure thoughts! But you're either the Queen of his world or not. I would say not so...

Love / What's God's answer TO my gf, after cheating on me after 4 years? [65]

My ex went to America to stay with her brother for a few months. I flew out there to be with her on her birthday. First night I was there she told me she'd been f*ckin' around the whole time she'd been out there. Broke my heart, took the world from under my feet and made for the single worst experience of my life.

My advice? Get the f*ck out of that relationship!!! Dos dedos, mis amigo!

Life / A lot of "How safe is Poland" threads? [15]

This company was founded on halfarsedness. I'm hedging my bets on Krakow being a marked improvement on Manchester anyways.

Life / A lot of "How safe is Poland" threads? [15]

Yup. Blocked! I'm at work on the night shift and they don't like us not working so they block sites that staff have visited. They've blocked random pages of this site but I can still use most of it. They blocked the latest discussions page!! >:(

Anyways, I'm giving very serious thought to moving to Krakow if I can. So I guess Krakow.

Life / A lot of "How safe is Poland" threads? [15]

Can't help but notice a lot of "How safe is Poland" threads on here.

My perception of the place and people is based entirely on the Polish people I have met/spoken too and the Polish communities living over here so it's not exactly accurate but I am finding it difficult to imagine Poland being such a rough place to live given the nature of it's people??

So how would Krakow compare to, say, London, Liverpool or Manchester? Anyone?

P.S. For some reason the thread "How safe are Polish cities?" is blocked on this computer, hence I can't just read that one for my answers - przepraszam.

Life / Relocation! Relocation! to Poland! [10]

Dziękuję. Bardzo pomocny. My girlfriend was from Krakow so I'd probably look at moving there but obviously I'd need to go there first. I do have some money, in the sense that I earn a half decent wage but most of that goes out on my rent and bills and council tax and such. The idea was to just find a new life, I'm so tired of England. Poland seemed as logical a choice as anywhere else since I'd need a visa to work outside of Europe and I know more Polish than I do any other European language. Admittedly I haven't given this a great deal of forethought but that's the whole point of posting on here - to find out if it's actually do-able. I think a better idea would be to first try to put myself on an intensive language course over there for 8 weeks or so and move from there. Or maybe a volunteer course? They are out there and for that I would have the money.

Life / Relocation! Relocation! to Poland! [10]

Well, I'm also a musician so 25 is actually kinda old! :D Hm... Well, the way I feel right now I'm thinking I might so go for it anyway. In for a penny, in for a pound, right? But you're right, it could just go horribly wrong and I'll die lonely and miles from home. Still, it's not like I haven't given England a fair trial. Maybe it's worth a go? But how do I get started?? Not overly keen on the prospect of spending my first few weeks there on the streets.

Life / Relocation! Relocation! to Poland! [10]

I was dating a Polish sweetheart up until a month ago (I kind of still am but she moved to Jersey... I hadn't really known her long enough to hang on and wait for her). I guess her whole outlook on life, her philosophies and perception of the world just amazed me. She really is an incredible human being!! So I decided to learn Polish (which is a slower process than I anticipated but goddamn I'm determined!!) and I guess the fascination came from there. I hate England and it's people. Living in Manchester all my life has had it's toll on me. I'm 25, with 50 year old skin and an 80 year old soul!

Life / Relocation! Relocation! to Poland! [10]

Yeah, figured as much. I guess I'm stuck here then? Not really what I was hoping for but you're probably dead right. It's probably a really really bad idea, just because I've seen my arse at work and decided not just to quit but also leave the country indefinitely in search of greener pastures!! Pieprz Angielsku (?)!!! :D

Life / Relocation! Relocation! to Poland! [10]

Out of curiosity, how difficult would it be to just move to and live in Poland?

I'm English and I don't have any extraordinary qualifications; only those I picked up from high school and an NVQ in Psychiatric Nursing, which is worth nothing anywhere ever. I can't speak Polish all that well, though I am learning and should be able to manage on a basic level with what I know. Oh, and I don't have any money.

How difficult would it be to find somewhere to live and work in Poland? Are there any cities that should be avoided (I grew up in Manchester) or any tips etc. in helping the whole thing along? Anyone have any idea of the legal formalities also?

Or am I just wastin' ma damn time??

I have tried to read through previous posts on similar subjects for information but it's 5am, my eyes and brain are tired and I'm just not taking it in any more :D
