Genealogy / strange Polish mixes [116]

My friends call me Chief Running Kielbasa.

I got a good laugh out of this one. I am also part Native American (South - Arawak).

Im half persian half polish and 100% proud of both

You should be, that sounds like a beautiful mix.

I am 1/4 Polish and a 1/4 Hungarian on the maternal side, and part Arawak/Asian/Suriname-Dutch on the other. I am adopted, so I am still sorting everything out. I don't know the exact proportions or mixture on the Arawak/Asian/Dutch side. Suriname is a very mixed nation, so there is one big soup over there.

Life / Homosexuals in Poland / Hands off (PETITION) [797]

your kidding right?

one of my exs brother in laws was/is gay, he goes to these places,.. the mall is
where they meet to find other gays and theres certain things they do to get response
if someone walks into a stall and theres a sign,

No, I'm not kidding, but your response elaborates and clarifies a bit. My point is that out gay men have their own signals within their community, of others who participate in anonymous pick-ups. However, looking over the stall at your husband was out of line, and not necessarily the "norm" of out gay men.

But, thank you for clarifying your response. I appreciate it.

Life / Homosexuals in Poland / Hands off (PETITION) [797]

Generally speaking, the men who frequent public toliets or invade the privacy of other non-participatory men are not out gay males. They are usually closet cases with other issues and in some cases not even gay. People who expose themselves to others are not limited to gays males or even men for that matter, and are more often straight.

If I was a officer of the law I would haul them all away

OK, so you're going to haul them "all" away now, for the actions of a few. Who exactly is this "all", and how are you going to know? Should we haul away "all" stupid people based on the ignorant comments of a few?

As long as we're on the topic of technicalities, what does the little man or profile head mean next to people's status? Is it number of posts or something?

As I said, if you checked your own profile and looked at your latest replies you would see random chat there and if you'd clicked on it at that time it would have taken you to that post.

I didn't know previously. Now I know.

Athough I disagree with her views, I have never seen where she wrote anything that were derogatory to anybody. She is a very intelligent girl, and handles her dissents very diplomatically. NO, there is no way that anyone can convince me that her post should have been deleted.

Thank you lukimp80, especially since we have disagreed in the past. That was very generous of you. I look forward to more productive discussions with you in the future, even if we disagree.

I think partly. Thanks Pawian.

I will be gone for a few days. But I hope to start some new and productive threads when I get back. Good night all, and to all a good night.

Technically it's a Polish forum and your British/American chatter was going on in a thread about a DJ who said something about Poles. The last two posts from that thread were removed to random chat

OMG - they were removed to a random chat thread. I would have no way of knowing this without being informed, short of telepathy.

I can appreciate your response and explanation about the title of the thread and British/American chatter - vaguely - except that you selectively moved MY post and not his. That is outright bias and diminishes every attempted defense here otherwise.

*edit: It is not outright censorship, but it is definitely entering into a very muted form. I will start a thread with an appropriate title next time.

Again, thank you for the explanation.

Feedback / Why was my last post deleted and censored? [21]

Why was my post providing multiple links to substantiate my argument on British Anti-Americianism deleted, and the thread closed ("Poles make good Prostitutes, says BBC DJ")? Another poster made outright insults and personal slurs against me, and yet I am deleted and censored due to my ability to marshall substantiated points by major media sources in the defense of my argument.

Furthermore, the censorship is done in stealth, so that we can never get a full image of what is going on. Is blatant censorship of substantiated arguments about British anti-Americanism blocked here, but virulent racism and neo-nazi posturing is not?

Thanks in advance.

Love / Polish girls in the eyes of a Turkish guy [24]

Thank you so much Pomorzanka. Your post alone gave me much more valuable insights and information then probably the last 6 months of reading this forum. This is the problem when you have such a high proportion of men - and foreign at that - trying to define the "perfect" or "typical" polish woman. It's like another form of colonization.

It's good to hear from real women out there.

Life / Do Poles accept people from the Polish diaspora as Poles? [14]

In answer to your question ruthiee, it has to be a collection of idiots for sure with a sprinkling of geniuses who are well balanced and sensible :) unfortunately genius cannot shine when there are no idiots about :)

hahahha

Never! Oh yes we will pretend a diaspora Pole is OK with us and then we'll gather at night with torches and pitchforks and white hoods and burning crosses and down goes Olisadebe!

Oh, be afraid, be very afraid, lol.

Love / There are some good looking older chicks in Poland no? [25]

Nah, I'm not trying to pick up on this thread. I'm just trying to say that 50 is the new 30, and there's a good reason for it, and it isn't always plastic surgery. Some of us are too scared or too broke for plastic surgery, haha. I think people will see more youthful older women in coming generations as our species start to live longer.

I will try to change my avatar to a current picture soon. The problem is that I am living in South Korea right now, and I haven't found adapters for my digital camera or computer, so it makes uploading a photo difficult (my relationship with technology definitely shows my age). I posted a picture of myself on this forum when I first arrived in a genalogy thread (Do I look Polish?), but it isn't a glam shot at all (it was a passport photo in Indonesia, and I have a busted lip from being robbed, lol), but, I wasn't wearing any makeup and I am already in my 40s in the shot. So, it is not a flattering photo, but you can easily see that I look much younger than 40.

OK, I found the thread. I am post #15.

Love / There are some good looking older chicks in Poland no? [25]

I wouldn't be surprised. I was working with a woman this Summer who easily looked 15 years younger than her 45. (Relatively) Clean living, no drugs and regular exercise was all it took.

That's all it is - clean living. I am very sensitive, and I think that saved me from drinking and smoking excessively. I also needed to watch my diet because of these sensitivities, and work out. I drink a lot of green tea, and I don't wear a lot of makeup. When I do indulge in excesses, I give my body plenty of recover time. Oh yeah, and I am a bit of a renegade: I will walk out of a job and rather live without a fancy title and make it on my own than suffer a heart attack or other toxic stress over stupid office or professional politics. I think that has helped out too, lol.

You may be part of the "exception to the rule" (you may even be exceptional....) But I stand by my post that there are a lot of ladies out there that have been "enhanced".

I don't think I'm that exceptional. I have met other women in their forties who look great, because they also followed a lifestyle of exercise and moderation. It is our generation. I have never had plastic surgery, and just rely on good health and nutrition. I do not have a perfect model face or perfect model body, but I take care of what I have.

I am not against older people who have a couple of procedures to preserve, but luckily I don't need it as of yet. I probably won't need it until I am in my 60s, which I think is fair. My birth mom also followed a life of good nutrition with herbs and alternative remedies, and she is 80 years old and looks like other women in their 60s.

I stumbled upon a website of elderly people that started weight training some in their 60s and 70s, and you would not believe the results and anti-aging effects - quite dramatic! Nutrition and exercise are the fountain of youth.

Also, to add to your point about ladies who are enhanced, these days that is not exclusive to age. More and more younger women are actually getting procedures done. It becomes so bad that now whenever you see a good-looking or well preserved woman, people are quick to accuse plastic surgery when it is just good health.

Lately, because of my job and lifestyle, I have been out for beers a lot more often and I can feel the effects! I think alcohol ages people quickly. I am thinking of cutting way back, but I do love a great beer. I am not going to drink as much, and I am a lot pickier about what I do drink.

Love / There are some good looking older chicks in Poland no? [25]

I think it may have to do with the presence of so many qualified plastic surgeons, cheap surgeries, Botox, and broken marriages. By broken marriages, I mean that there are some older women (and men for that matter) on the market again after the collapse of their "starter marriages".

No, I'm all natural and over 40, and I consistently (pretty much exclusively) attract younger men in their 20s and 30s not because they want an older woman, but because they think I am their age. I hardly ever wear make-up, and all through my 20s and early 30s I worked out a lot, took vitamins and didn't really drink or smoke. I drank and smoked socially on weekends, so I wasn't a total saint, either. But, I think the combination of moderation, healthy exercise and diet, and little or minimal makeup helped preserve me somehow. I get terrible hangovers after about 2 beers, and bronchitis after a few cigarettes, so it was a moderation forced on me by my body. I am now thinking of giving up drinking all together except on rare social occasions, and going back to working out hard and weight training. I think every generation evolves in some way, and the physical barriers of aging were broken with our generation through regular exercise, gyms, and nutrition.

I remember during the 80s a lot of Brits sneered at American fitness culture and some still deride me for taking vitamins, but their jaws drop when they find out how old I am.

Love / Younger foreign man dating older polish women ? [28]

Hardly anyone could accept that a cute, young guy could love an older lady for real. It had to be because she wanted wild sex with a toy boy, or he wanted a green card.

That does happen a lot, but not all the time. And that is why I posted....so that I can help others who face this type of stereotype. And can help people to see that they may be hurting an otherwise happy couple by their pre-judging everyone who falls in love with someone older or younger than themselves.

Absoltuely, and it is also incredibly condescending and belittling to the woman, as if there is something wrong with her or she needs protecting. There is nothing wrong with responsible relationships between adults, and there is definitely nothing wrong with wild or hot sex.

Love / Younger foreign man dating older polish women ? [28]

I know, I'm very busy too. Sometimes I peek in, but don't hang out.
I chime in when when something catches my eye, like this dating older polish women (read:marrying for a EU card) because that's what it really is.

Denmark and Sweden are part of the EU, as is fellow Nordic country Finland. Norway is not be has a high standard of living, and Iceland is not Scandanavian. Also, Polish women seem to take care of themselves just fine.

Don't you think you jumped the gun a bit?

Love / Younger foreign man dating older polish women ? [28]

Thank you for your wonderful post, Softsong. You aimed it at Marco, but you actually helped and inspired me a lot. I have been feeling so guilty about my relationships with much younger men, but they always seek me out! I cannot get away from them. I like oder men also, but they are usually married, have very old attitudes, or literally look like they could be my father that it is very difficult.

I had a relationship with the love of my life when he was 18 and I was 30. We literally looked the same age at the time, and his family adored me. But, I knew after two years I had to let him go, because it would be profoundly unfair to hold on to him and deprive him of that youthful freedom. I know I did the right thing, and I also know that his relationship with me enhanced him as a man, and his future dealings with women. Good for him - but what about me? I had a broken heart for years. I am still not the same, even more than 10 years afterwards.

And now, I am in a situation where I am surrounded by much younger men. Most are in their twenties, and right now there are at least 4 that I know of who are attracted. I have already turned down two of them, because I always think back to the relationship that ripped my guts out, even while I was doing the right thing by letting him go. I also don't fancy becoming a sexual fethish or sexual experiment for twenty-something guys.

So, I am in a strange place. I feel too old emotionally for twenty-somethings, but too young or different for many men my age or older. My latest conclusion is that I think men in their thirties will be the best possible match for me. They are young enough for older women in that they have the younger attitude toward women, but old enough to be mature men. So, I am looking for my hot 30-something male ;) I'm sure he is out there somewhere.

In the meantime, I may have a little fun with the twenty-something boy-toys, sometimes ...

Love / Younger foreign man dating older polish women ? [28]

This is actually a funny thread for me. I am a 45-year-old woman with Polish/Hungarian blood, but I always attract much younger men. This was starting to become a problem for me. I started to get tired of always attracting twenty-something males, and decided to just wait until I could find a good 30-something male, or 40-something who is in good shape - which is rare- and just wait. Tonight, this twenty-three year old male who has been eyeing me for awhile finally made the move. I resisted but then he said I was being ageist. He finally convinced me; oh well, here we go again ....

Genealogy / Family in Poland - "Subik" [6]

Hi:

Your thread caught my attention, because I am somewhat in the same situation. I hope I am not intruding on your thread, but there seems to be very knowledgeable people here who may be able to help me on my search. I am adopted and found my birth mother, but at this point she only has a name and vague origin for the Polish maternal grandmother.

Maternal grandmother: Frances Kaputska, from somewhere near the Carpathian Mountains.

The maternal grandfather was Hungarian (Andraus Bartok), probably from near the same area.

I have no idea when they migrated to the U.S., but by calculating ages, it had to be somewhere right before or after WW1. They settled in East Chicago, Indiana. I am mostly interested in figuring out information about the origins of my maternal grandmother's name in Poland.

Thanks.

Genealogy / AMERICANS' DEGREE OF POLISHNESS (OR ANY OTHER ETHNICITY) [10]

I was adopted away from my Polish/Eastern European heritage, but I know that for my biological family it was strong. They live in the Polish/Hungarian enclave of Indiania/East Chicago area, and they all have Polish/Hungarian names or spelling, eat the food, etc. But, I think the language died out with the grandparents unfortunately. I know that my biological maternal grandmother was from Poland, and had a thick Polish accent. My birth mom actually gave me a name with Eastern European spelling, but it was changed to American spelling once I was adopted. I am thinking of changing it back.

Genealogy / Do you guys see the Polish in me in this picture? [29]

That's only because you haven't seen me, lol. I posted a picture somewhere on this forum when I first arrived, for the same reasons as Eurasian. I look mostly European though, so I am only as "exotic" as the next Polish/Hungarian girl, with a littl bit of brown, as my Russian friend says, I guess.

Genealogy / Do you guys see the Polish in me in this picture? [29]

farm4.static.flickr.com/3514/3187607942_8be819c0fa.jpg?v=0 you look like an arab, you have dark features, dark skin, dark hair and dark eyes. you dont really look european. You look more arab

That's funny, because he's not even Arab, he's Persian. I think you may not be looking at him with your eyes.

Eurasian, I am in a similar situation because I am part Polish/Hungarian and also mixed with Arawak Indian and Dutch West Indian via Surinam and St. Marteen (a creole mix of Asian, East Indian, and Dutch). I was adopted, and was not raised by my Eastern European side.

I seem to be the reverse of you, in that my coloring is light but some of my features look mixed. However, the more I learn about Poland and Hungary and the rest of Eastern and Central Europe, the more I realize that large parts of the population have always been mixed with influences from Asian Siberia and Central Asia, although many on this forum will deny it. But, all you have to do is study the history and look around: Poland, Ukraine, Hungary, Crimea and Russia still have evidence of this on the faces of the people.

So, when I looked at your picture, I immediately saw Polish influences, and saw a reflection of some of my own features as well. But, you are also half Persian, which is not that far off the mark from a lot of Eastern Europeans who have Asian and Central Asian influence from way back anyway. So, some of the features will be the same, such as a long, high nose and a small mouth. But, it is that combination with your deepset eyes that I recognize.

I agree with another poster that said it would be helpful to post a picture of your mom, so that we can see the direct resembelance. I think a lot of people get stuck on color and hair type (race), without looking at features. A picture of your mom would provide a context.
