News / English vs. Polish hostility [323]

Hence we have vast tracts of formerly industrial towns and cities that are "little" Indias, Pakistans, Jamaicas (don't forget the West Indians are still in this topic), you name it

A colleague of mine, who is now in his 40s, was eight, when his family moved from India to the UK and settled in Southall.

He was telling me about the shop that had been at the end of their road when they first arrived. He then said "of course it's a bloody sari shop now, the trouble with Southall now is there's too many Indians living there, not like when I was a kid, it was a good mix then"

Good post and I would agree with all, except the date of the navvies. I think it's much earlier.

They built the railways in the 1800s, that's where the term navi comes from, it's short for navigator

UK, Ireland / Polish Thoughts on Britain and the British [273]

Because you get pretty, plain, average, ugly, and beautiful people in every country.

This is true

which is why

I've heard and read besides Polish immigrants also other Eastern European immigrants like Lithuanian are kind of full of themselves about their looks

this is a generalisation

My cousin's first husband was Lithuanian, he was quiet, modest, considerate and totally hen pecked and nagged by my cousin.

People are people and we're all different, thank God.

However, the above problem left undealt with will start to create a two and three tier society with little or no social interaction between groups.

that's happening already, the gap between rich and poor is the greatest it's been in over 50 years. And research has shown that fewer working class children are going to university than 30 years ago.

Love / Need help: Can't get my polish girl to say "I love you" [84]

Why is it my issue?

you obviously have issues where women are concerned, and you frequently choose to share them with the rest of the forum.

don't share your opinion with the rest of us if you can't take the riposte

UK, Ireland / UK firms face recruitment ban for exploiting migrant workers [15]

Some unscrupulous agencies think nothing of paying a bare minimum if they can get away with it.

I just hope the Government does what it says it's going to do.

There are even some agencies bringing people from abroad promising a job and accomodation, only for the workers to get here and find no job or accommodation. it happened to 15 Polish people near to where i live

This is from last Wednesday's Guardian

Rogue employers convicted of exploiting migrant workers will face being banned from recruiting any more staff from abroad, the home secretary, Jacqui Smith, promised yesterday.

Its a psychological factor that the other members need to have satisfied.

The day you understand my psychology, is the day the hole in your arse stops pointing downwards
