I lost my car keys once and when I came back to the place I had already checked they were there.

Option A,
A ghost from "the other side" physically manifested itself.
Crossing over from the side we can not see, to our side.
Perhaps to communicate with me, to tell me who murdered him,
So he could finally find his resting place and no longer have to roam the abyss of the earth alone for the rest of eternity

or maybe just to mess with my head.

Option B,
I did not check properly the first time.

although the first answer is more interesting and tells a good story (and we all like stories), I would go with the second option or a third but not the first.

Has anybody any idea how to get into teaching any other way?

It depends on where he is teaching.
A lot of English schools are open during the academic year and close for the summer holidays.

I am thinking as well that he has a basic polish.is it enough?

I recommend living in a big city in that case and teach him more Polis :)

any advice with regard to everyday life in poland?

I think what you are doing, learning the language is a must.
And living in a city, at first anyway, will help a lot.

I don't know if either of you have ever lived in a country that you don't know how to speak the language but it does isolate you.

Even though most people in cities in Poland speak some English, it is still not enough.
Also just for the common curtsy.
I speak Polish but not as well as I would like, it is hard but not impossible.

Krakow is a great city on almost all levels, i am not too familar with Katowice.

I see some similarities with Ireland but in other ways i see big differences

Yes, Catholicism, a history full of tragedy and alcohol :)
These three similarities has a huge effect, we have very similar sensibilities and humour.
I feel more at home here then other countries I have lived in.

The big difference is what communism left behind. Although communism can be seen as a kind of occupation of the country, the bizarre systems and frustrating bureaucracy is mind boggling to say the least but it continue to change for the better.

Although teaching English is probably the number one option here for English speakers, you should probably try to find something you are interested in (if you are not interested in teaching) but teaching English is not a bad fall back position if anything goes wrong with your primary work.

Also getting some credible teaching certificate can help you in the beginning until you find your feet.

That was a serious question.
I have seen it in many countries.
Thailand is a perfect example.
The girls might not be out and out prostitutes but they are not with the big old European guy for his intelligence or good looks.

I think a lot of the time it is very okay, both partys get something.
There are of course many exceptions but we are not talking about those yet.

You are not hitting the "ass mark" yet, so by your own theory the Polish girls are still hiding.

You guys agree with each other, it reinforces your twisted logic.
There are about 1.5 billion people with internet access world wide, so what are the chances of meeting someone with the same idea as yourself?.
Must be one in a million?.

I stayed in Poland very limited time,so my observations come from a narrowed perspective.

Wow! you are either very observant or kinda creative.
How many brothels did you go to and how many prostitutes did you meet?, this might explain everything, no?.

she is on topic, she is English (not Polish) and thinks your a loser (good work there) and finds you very unappealing ( further strengthening your hypothesis).

Polish women still hiding from you, I see, you may have to step it up a bit and become a real ass.
I would attempt that before hacking off any limbs anyway.

i think I understand where all the confusion is coming from.

LukeXX here is trying to be more of a loser and therefore be more attractive to Polish women.
You are not a Polish woman and therefore you are not finding him attractive.
But the more unattractive you find him, the better job he is at becoming more attractive to Polish women.
It is very very simple ShelleyS, do what southerner suggests just dumben down.

By the Im way out of your league and I doubt you be able to afford the drinks in the bars I frequent, so there isnt a chance in hell our paths would ever cross, unless you were cleaning the doorway of tescos the other day when I walked past!

So comments like this are showing what a wonderful loser LukeXXX is and all the Polish girls will be waiting for him at the airport, when he arrives.

I thought the topic was about polish women finding losers attractive and PLK123 suggesting you to work on being a loser,
could heighten your chances with members of the female sex but only in Poland (according to this thread) everywhere else you'd be an actual loser.

This suggestion to become more judgemental is a good start.
Work on your faults, worsen them whereever possible.

But then when "the lights come back on" you have to be quick with the wit for other craftsmen would also be typing with glee and fast too.
