Travel / Traveling to Poznan [16]

I know I need a passport and a visa,

No Visa is required. Just a valid passport.

and an estimate as to how much money I'd need to stay. The longest I'd be staying is a month.

Where do you plan on staying? Hostel-Hotel-Host Family?
If you'd like a host try here:
secure.hospitalityclub.org/hc/hcworld.php?country=155

There may be someone nice enough to give you a room/bed and assist you with translating or getting around. You do need to learn how to purchase tickets for the bus. I'd also brush up on your Polish :) It will help alot. Just keep in mind that it may be frustrating to get around, but be patient and don't lose your cool. People can easily avoid you if you're irate :)

I'm flying into Poznan, so I would assume whatever international airport they have there. I don't know the specific name of the airport.

Poznan airport used to be an airforce base. It's really small, but friendly.

Ok I see you chose the Hostel :)

I have a little info and pics here: members.virtualtourist.com/m/a3382/

I hear the Frolic Goat is a nice choice. There's also the Dizzy Daisy. Let me know what type of music you listen to and I nay be able to point you in the right direction.

USA, Canada / Advice for Polish girlfriend getting tourist visa to visit America? [45]

I through, poland has joined as EU country and she just need to get the EU passport and then she can stay in US for few months.

No, She needs a tourist Visa to visit the US. Poland isn't in the VWP yet.

Krysia is correct. It would be easer to be approved if she was a student. My GF was denied prior to receiving her student ID then once she was a student they approved her right away.

Good luck!!

News / Why are so many Polish political leaders midgets? [16]

Nicholas Sarcozy is pretty short. Why would you even start a topic like this? LOL and why would any of us answer?

Maybe you're 12-15 though. I can see that in your other comments. We discuss the anti missile base and you're just concerned with talking smack about Pl women. I don't even see you comment in any other topics either which shows me that you're brain capacity may not be able to handle the volume ;)

I also think you're American. Why would you have to say "Polish" relatives or just name US presidents.........

Life / Beach fashion. Are Polish youth into baggy or tighter clothing? [48]

I actually quite like it - very innovative Fisz:)

Thanks M. I like it as well :)

you might want to buy some track suits to help "fit in." :)

That would depend on "who" you'd like to fit in wirh. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it.

Nice recycle Krysia ;) I always love your illustrations. I was looking for the group foto before.

UK, Ireland / Polish girls 'too pretty' for British schools [150]

But, we weren't looking for a relationship. We talked for almost a year before we became close and I decided to visit.

All these english guys who go for polish girls are losers?

Are you saying this? Can you quote where I may've even come close to saying anything remotely related?

...didn't think so

I so see that YOU are in every woman topic thinking you're the know all of PL women ;)

History / Jews...and their Polish experience [520]

what I've heard jews are very dirty, and don't treat poles well.

I don't have anything against Jews, But many don't treat anyone right. Esp. the Hacidic jews. They will try to swindle you because they don't want to spend any money...very cheap. It's not just the Polish they treat badly.

....but All Jews aren't this way in America Asia. I have a few jewish friends that aren't anything like this. It all depends on the way they were raised.

UK, Ireland / Polish girls 'too pretty' for British schools [150]

personally i think that's BS. in every country there are pretty girls and ugly ones.

Yup. One day these guys will realize this.

They focus on all of these ugly girls in mini's while they miss the hotties :)

I don't know about you southern, I've seen many gorgeous British women. maybe you just look for "girls" with no class.

Life / Beach fashion. Are Polish youth into baggy or tighter clothing? [48]

Are youth (age 20ish) wearing baggy clothes, or are they more into "tighter" clothes

I think that just like anywhere you'll find some kids in hip hop gear. I don't think baggy clothes are AS popular in PL though. I've seen more people in tighter cliothes rather than baggy. But, it would also depend on what you're wearing. Some clothes are made to be a little loose. Honestly, I wouldn't sweat it.

If you happen to make it to the beach, be aware that most men wear bikini briefs or tight boy shorts. I was wearing surfer shorts and stood out like a sore thumb, but you wont get a boykini on me :)

USA, Canada / Looking for English lessons/tutor in upper Passaic County (NJ) area [4]

have the pleasure of being a host family to a very sweet young lady from Poland who joined my family last week. We have quite a bit of a language barrier so I am looking for someone who may be able to tutor her in English or knows of an ESL class around the West Milford, Ringwood area. She does drive, however, I'm not ready to have her drive beyond this area. Please help!!

Have you checked in Wallington or Garfield?

Place an add in Craigs list.

Life / The perfect souvenir from Poland [28]

I'll have to look into Flower honey?

You can buy some if you forget, but I'd rather find it roadside.

Life / The perfect souvenir from Poland [28]

Fisz, you just can't stop amassing me with your knowledge about Poland. Respect. :)

Thanks. I like to share what I come across and I'm always happy to give tips to other foreigners that want to experience the same.

I really enjoy getting around to all of the small villages to see what each has to offer. I like to get the culture full force and stray away from the tourist paths :) I myself enjoy art and I'm so amazed by the talented artists that go un-noticed. I try to buy at least 1 piece of art to show my appreciation for their skill. Some of the best I've found in route to Koszalin from Poznan... route 10 I think. Here people will also find amazing honey :)

Valmoe. PL honey from flowers is superb and worth bringing home. There a re few different types to enjoy.

I'm planning to visit a fair in September in a small village in Wielkopolska.

I'd like to do this next time I go. I don't know when that'll be though. I'm thinking the winter :/ So much for fairs :) I'll have to enjoy the mountains instead :) Just as fun to visit small mtn villages too :)

Life / The perfect souvenir from Poland [28]

Definitely some wooden sculptures. I've come across a few amazing pieces while driving cross country. The Amber would also be a good idea except be careful who you buy from. There are people selling fake Amber. A way to test amber is to tear a small corner off a piece of paper and rub the amber on a cotton shirt and this charged amber should pick up the paper like a magnet ;) Only amber will do that.

Maybe some special liquor. Miod Pitny or maybe some sliwowica or Wisnowka. Poland has a few different flavored Vodkas that you may like.
