loveistanbul 9 Jun 2007 / #1Hello,I hope the Polish members here can help me settle an argument I have with my father. I regularly buy a Polish beer Zywiec from a Polish shop in my town in Gloucestershire and then have bought the same bottle from my local Tesco and the taste is totally different. Zywiec has a slightly tangy taste and when I bought the bottle from my local Polish shop the taste was different from the Tesco version. Please anyone who drinks this excellent Polish beer can they tell me if it is possible the tesco version is different to the Polish supplier I am convinced the taste is different. I have read on the back of the bottle and both seem to have the same information on them yet the Zywiec I buy from my Polish friend is much better and Tesco's is not very goodThanks Richard

Wroclaw 44 | 5,379 9 Jun 2007 / #3The taste of beer can be affected by light, length of storage, heat.
OP loveistanbul 9 Jun 2007 / #4away guy I thought this also about the regulations maybe it is me and my taste buds, the way I solve this is I will buy it from my Polish friend's shop and forget TescoThanks
away guy 10 | 343 9 Jun 2007 / #5light, length of storage, heat.Yes like i say "fishy" maybe tesco batch of beers were exported under some influence of unatural circumstances ?
OP loveistanbul 9 Jun 2007 / #6Yes I agree with you what I need is some other members here to do the taste test this would really help as I am sure they would notice a difference
Grzegorz_ 51 | 6,149 9 Jun 2007 / #7It's possible that in Tesco they simply kept It in ****** conditions - too warm and so on.
feelon 9 Jun 2007 / #8It is a fact that in some value supermarkets like the Winn Dixie the same brand products, like coffee, beverage...are much different quality, i mean much lower...
shellwork 11 Jun 2007 / #9value supermarkets like the Winn Dixie the same brand products, like coffee, beverage...Tesco isnt a pov market ! and Tyskie isnt a pov brand!
FISZ 24 | 2,116 11 Jun 2007 / #10It's possible that in Tesco they simply kept It in ****** conditions - too warm and so on.Yup. It sounds like it was chilled, warmed then chilled again. This really screws with beer.sup Shell?
jl_loves_et 21 Jun 2007 / #11Zywiec will knock you on your *ss not matter what it tastes like. Good stuff maynard!
AngielskiOrzel 29 Jun 2007 / #13The answer is easy- Tesco charge disgusting amounts for favorite tipple, once you have parted with half your days wage for one bottle it tends to taste like ****.

Polonius3 994 | 12,367 27 Dec 2008 / #17Merged: Anyone hear of Książ beer?A few years ago (maybe 5-6) I ran acorss a beer I think was brewed by the Książ brewery in or near Wrocław. I recall it had the black sillhouette of a horse on the label. It was very nice and the price was reasonable -- much below Okocim, Lech Żywiec, EB & Tyskie. Anyone know if it is still being brewed?
PolskaDoll 28 | 2,099 27 Dec 2008 / #19I haven't heard of it either so I looked it up and this was all I could find in English anyway. You're right about the black horse.
Wroclaw 44 | 5,379 27 Dec 2008 / #20Anyone hear of Książ beer? It's in the shops. About 2zl a can. One of the cheaper beers, reasonable quality.
