Oscypek is delicious!

Oscypek is popular in Poland.

Oscypek is a smoked cheese made of salted sheep milk exclusively in the Tatra Mountains region of Poland.

Oscypek

If you know it and if you like it... how do you like it?

Grilled oscypek with cranberries?

Grilled oscypek with bacon?

Shaved thin and served with rocket (ruccola for Americans) and red onion in a salad.

Or use it instead of parmesan on pasta.

Try shaving it thin and then taking a blow torch to it (obviously try not to let it burn though).

I always have to laugh when I think of this cheese. When my sister and I were walking around the market in Krakow, she bought some from a street vendor. She thought they were cookies!!! She thought it was the worse cookie she ever had!! It does make a nice cheese though.

Inedible salty rubber. Yes. What's more, 90% of oscypeks are fake. May be you can find a decent (but still not tasty!) oscypek at highlander in the mountains, but rather not in Zakopane City and of course not in Cracow and especially not in the store.

if its in a supermarket then its fake, if its for sale on the street its fake as they have been mass produced usually using milk powder and a lot of filler and flavour enhancers.

You will only get real if its home made with fresh sheep milk and you see it being made anything produced for sale is ****** quality and really rubbery and thats because it mainly is fillled with gum

Oscypek tastes good. I like its rubbery texture when only smoked and crunchy when grilled.
