Marlboro Reds

Always hated them. Always chose 'light' and usually L&M.
You made me miss it again :(

If I ever receive diagnosis 'terminal' I'm going to have a beer abd cig party :D

terminal does not necessarily mean fatal.

It did for the late Nunczka, sadly, who was the OP in this thread.

I used to enjoy smoking and occasionally have the odd one even now. I gave up when I figured two things.

- That none of the people I knew who were enjoying an active and healthy retirement smoked.
- That nobody I knew who had a doctorate smoked but everybody I knew who was on skid row or close to it did smoke.

A nice cigar now and again is one thing. Deliberately filling your lungs with toxic microparticles ever half hour and spending £100 a week doing it is another.

now a pack of Marlboro Reds (the only cigarettes for real men) in NYC costs $16-18.

Amasing! Much cheaper in Poland: about 3.5$.

Yes, I also had a weakness for smoking still about 15 years ago - I did it on summer holidays, when I was completely devoid of worries, and the family were already asleep, I sat in front of the cabin and lit a cigarillo at night.

Today it is out of the question coz cig smoke chokes me.

I miss it like crazy however the damage it does outweighs the pleasure.

Where I work, there are still ashtrays in offices, cigarettes are 35p (2zl) a packet and it is sometimes very tempting.

Yes, but we usually disregard damage and focus on pleasure. Typical of human beings. :):):)

True. It's finding a balance really.

There are other things to smoke than tobacco (and becoming legal in more and more places) plus a lot of people vape nowadays which is probably not as risky.

Cigs should be 50 bucks a pack and come with two crossed bones on them. Same with booze.
The Social Security benefit department loves both. A-holes pay but never collect.

Gorby tried the high tax thing with booze and the Udmurtians responded in the only way they know - blinding themselves with paint stripper and perfume, leaving themselves too drunk to procreate and with an epidemic of fatal liver complaints.

It was the start of their demographic catastrophe

Now it is clear that it was the start of cleaning gene pool from non-creative specimens tending to be vulnerable to alcoholism. Second stage of clean-up was in 2022, where specimens too vulnerable to western brainwashing left the country. ;)

Boozers suffer from an inferiority complex and "think" that being drunk makes them smarter.
I assume the exact opposite - that I am as perfect as I can ever be. That's why I don't drink.
I also hate throwing up. There is nothing more disgusting.
And then there are kids...Kids hate visibly intoxicated parents.

Way back when I was a senior in college, around 1982, a pack purchased in New York cost $1.10.

Damn the price looks like without sales tax(18cents indicate that)I am sure is around that here in NJ too.

result in interstate contraband

LOL I remember when the New Yorkers would load up on booze paying the shore tourist prices by me excited that its a bargain for them.LOL there are cpl of liq stores in bordering cities where the NYC retailers come and buy liquor/beer by the pellets as Liq cant be detected as it dont have a tax label seal like ciggs or even liq in Europe.

But again NYC people making 4/500k is common too.

now is aid to Ukraine in.✈

I donated 100 sim cards in Poland when the war broke out initially, but after seeing the Ukrainians attitude in Poland I didnt give a dime

LOL I rather donate a pack of smokes to a thug who is in jail cuz of harming a brit/irish English teacher LOL.

With every dollar added to the pack, your average life span will go up by a week.
No, I don't have a link.
