Now, the theological understanding of love is not the same as you'll find in soap operas, but is a total self-giving to another solely for the sake of the good of the other. So, Paul is actually saying to men: give yourselves completely to your women not for your sake but for the good of women.

In other words, men are to be at the service of women for the good of women.

Exactly, and no other man in history embodies this better than St Joseph, the most just and prudent protector of Mary and Jesus. We are all to imitate him in serving, protecting and loving our women.

He didn't write that anywhere. What he did literally write though was that "wives should submit in everything to their husbands" just as "the church submits to Christ". So what he was basically saying was that wives should treat their husbands like gods. This amounts to blasphemy, imho. No human should have such power over another human being. You can only submit in everything to God.
