I will put all of these on a spreadsheet next week, after Ptak gives us his choices

You did ?
I just gave those as EXAMPLES numb nuts.
Read it again, I don't own them.
Damn you are a pain in the ass.
Actually this week end I will be looking at some steel stocks to get into short term.
I am to too old to be buying long term stocks.
I need to start spending some of my money before the old peoples home gets it all.

I posted several single stocks that beat the S&P only to be mocked and diminished.

You were mocked for crowing about fantasy investments in stocks that had gone up by less than the S&P 500. Then you were mocked for claiming that you'd sold your shares and bought exchange-traded funds (people buy units in ETFs; if one person owns all of a fund, it can't be an exchange-traded fund). And then you were mocked for boasting about Tesla shares going up when you'd said months previously that you'd sold all your Tesla shares.

Can I have WIG 30, SMI, SPI (yes, I know), S&P Asia 50, STOXX Europe 600 and S&P 500?

Yes, but you want to choose one currency to be measured in. Can be PLN, USD, EUR or CHF ? or each to be measured on a straight percentage basis ?

And a 1.5% handicap that reflects the typical cost of holding an index fund for a Polish resident.

you want to choose one currency to be measured in.

Interesting question. How do you want to run this? I'd be thinking that this is Polish forums, so we should base the contest in PLN. How about everybody gets six lots of PLN 100,000, exchanged into whichever currency their chosen shares/units are sold in at the NBP rate on the start date and then on each measuring date the value of their shares/units is converted back into PLN? So with WIG 30 at PLN 3,543.56 I'd get 28.217 units in that, with SMI at CHF 12.366,17 and CHF 1 = PLN 4.55 I'd get 1.7773 units in that and so on. Then on measuring day I'd get the SMI times 1.7773 and that CHF amount converted into PLN at the NBP rate for measuring day.

a 1.5% handicap that reflects the typical cost of holding an index fund for a Polish resident.

Is it that much?! I must admit that I don't read the fine print as carefully as I probably should.

Edit: is it really 1.5% for a passive tracker? I just checked the fine print for Goldman Sachs Akcji CEE (invests min 50% in Polish stocks and the rest in CEE stocks) and that's 1.9% admin fee (admittedly plus a performance fee of up to 20% of the gain).

That's a bit more maths than I was anticipating. basically was just going to put the percentage gain in local currency. That's logical if you are picking 6 - they would logically be aligned to circumstances and it's not fair on the Americans to judge them in zloty. But in your case if you want to tip every stock in the world then should maybe be rebased to one currency.

Anyway ref's decision - percentage gains, no currency adjustments.

Was quoted 1.49% for an Irish based S&P 500 tracking ETF last week. Might be available cheaper but that was the third bank I had checked. There is no Vanguard or similar in Poland, so the tiny fees that Americans enjoy will never be available here.

Fair enough. I don't pretend to know enough about FX drivers to assess based on them anyway (although the US dollar might be in for a hard time over the next year and a half).

That does seem high for a passive tracker. Have you checked what mBank can offer? I know it's possible in theory to put IKE and IKZE funds into ETFs. If I have time (and remember), I'll check how one does that. I usually like to get my contributions in nice and early in the year, so will have a while until the 2026 contributions can go in.

You were mocked for crowing about fantasy investments

Except other people here made money on them too.
One member even bought a house in Poland on his profits from a stock that I tipped him on.
Remember, you turned green on that one.
and bought exchange-traded funds

I did, VUG was one etf's that I bought into but that went over your head
if one person owns all of a fund,

Where did anybody say they bought the whole fund ? lol
I think that person may have been you with one of your little embellished twisted lies.
when you'd said months previously that you'd sold all your Tesla shares.

Yes, Harry, I buy and sell stocks. You seem confused on what a short term stock is.
You can sell it and buy back into it any time you want or don't you know that. lol
You were mocked

Yes I was/am and you really should stop trolling me before you get a warning and a suspension even if it is the truth in what you mock me with.
Its happened to me so I am an authority on how it works on us Americans......oh wait, you are a Brit so you are safe/exempt.

Well finally we have 6 stocks from you JR
I will put all of these on a spreadsheet next week,

Now are 'we' picking these stocks or are professional stock brokers or financial advisors picking them for us.?
You and Harry both have talked about your financial advisors.
I will trust we are all picking six stocks ourselves without professional guidance.
If that is the case then put these six stocks down on your spread sheet for me.
I researched and picked them myself.
I will let you know when I sell them.

Looks like Rolls Royce shares will be on the up.

Rolls-Royce has won a competition to be the first company to try to build small modular nuclear reactors in the UK, as part of a government effort to push Britain to the frontier of nuclear energy technology.

The UK's Great British Energy on Tuesday announced Rolls-Royce as the preferred bidder for the programme, after a drawn-out competition that pitted the FTSE 100 manufacturer against two US-owned companies..................... It will aim for 70% of the parts to be based in the UK, although the delay has already meant Rolls-Royce has chosen a non-UK supplier for crucial pressure vessels.

Reeves said: "The UK is back where it belongs, taking the lead in the technologies of tomorrow with Rolls-Royce SMR as the preferred partner for this journey."
Tom Greatrex, the chief executive of the Nuclear Industry Association, said it was "a hugely significant moment for Rolls-Royce SMR and for the British nuclear programme", highlighting the potential for exports of the technology.
While the UK is due to get the first reactor, Rolls-Royce has already agreed to produce an SMR in the Czech Republic, and it is in the final two in a competition in Sweden.

theguardian.com/business/2025/jun/10/rolls-royce-uk-small-nuclear-reactors-smr-sizewell-c

This is massive. A couple of American firms were seething in anger and begging their government to intervene so they could get the lion's share rather than losing out. I did worry that this may form part of the trade deal with the US, which it evidently now doesn't. The French wanted in as well.

Most of the patents for SMRs are held in the UK and this will be a very big earner for Britain as well as create a lot of jobs (many more than the initial 3,000) over the years. It would be great if Polish companies could have a role too.

I'm glad I held onto those RR shares and bought some more yesterday.

Will do the spreadsheet today

Thanks buddy and lets keep this fun without insulting the next guy.
I don't have to mention names

Warren Buffet just invested $1.8 billion in these seven stocks
Do a spread sheet for him too so we can see how the big boys do it.
(I could have cheated and parroted his picks, but I don't cheat in fun games with friends)

Heico
Verisign
Sirius XM
Pool Corp.
Domino's Pizza
Constellation Brands (NYSE: STZ)
Occidental Petroleum

AMZN - 216
TSM - 207
AMSC - 33
IDCC - 227
BROS -73
HOOD - 73

See CMS, change already in the first day.
I will be selling that AMSC this week, or soon. as it has had a good run.
It has gone from $14 to $33 almost non-stop.
It is up 130% from its low and I think it may be time to take my profits and say thank you.
I will park that money in VUG by the end of the week most likely. (Unless something more enticing comes up before then)
So see, that is why I can't just play your hold em' long term strategy.
I buy and sell to often to compare to your long term holdings.

Are you trolling me again Harry ? lol
How does the Michigan Mystic do it?!

We should be asking you that question Harry.
You posted that three hours ago yet the Market has only been open here for 30 minutes. 🙄
Now that's what we call a real Mystic. 🤣

Thanks buddy and lets keep this fun without insulting the next guy.

And as we can see, Insulting Harry with his inferiority complex just can't help his insecure self. Hoot !
Anything he can troll post to trash a thread and ruin it for the rest of us.
You are a very troubled person Harry and such a happy person to be around.

jon357  73 | 24411
12 Jun 2025   #473
This isn't 'your' thread. It is a PF thread regarding shares, something we are discussing here.

One to discuss might be Boeing; they obviously just dropped due to today's crash. Not a good investment at the moment due to uncertainty over sales and the doomed 737 Max however long term, I'd buy.

And what is a 'riddle thread' and why would you want to trash it?

Dollar sinking badly now - under PLN 3.70. Mixture of tariffs and USD deficit worries.

Zloty holding up quite well, helped by the confidence vote for Tusk

So a good time to order stuff from the US Amazon. Not sure if a good time to get into US stocks

1. We don't give a fvck about PLN.

2. Did you comment when the dollar gained 25% against Euro from June 21 to November 22?

3. Tariffs are going to reduce or eliminate deficits, both trade and annual budget .

The damage done in 50 years needs more than 5 months to undo - even in America...

Poland still looks like the day after WW2...

This thread is to discuss the markets - not politics and certainly not your lame ass trolling...

...said a guy who injects geography lies into his posts about the war...every single day...

dumb tariffs making it worse not better.

...as opposed to smart tariffs imposed by the EU?

So let me see if I got it right...

EU tariffs - smart tariffs

US tariffs - dumb tariffs

And the difference, my stock genius, is what exactly?

Don't tell me that tariffs are off topic...They affect everything...stocks and all...
cms neuf  1 | 1976
12 Jun 2025   #478
So tip a stock that will benefit from tariffs, per your logic there should be many to choose from
Novichok  6 | 9420
12 Jun 2025   #479
I will when you look at the atlas and realize that Nigeria has nothing to do with the war in Russia.

In the meantime, I would appreciate your comment on this:

EU tariffs - smart tariffs

US tariffs - dumb tariffs

And the difference, my stock genius, is what exactly?
cms neuf  1 | 1976

EU tarriffs - imposed by committees of experts after careful consideration of the likely effects and chance of success

US tarriffs - imposed by a senile moron based on the last person he spoke to or some crap he read on the internet
