Stock Market Talk and Trading - part 2

So, given that you are obviously an experienced investor maybe recommend a few stocks

Only losers look for tips or recommendations from ignorant strangers, big-mounted charlatans pretending to possess secret knowledge.
I would argue the quickest way to say goodbye to your money.

charlatans pretending to possess secret knowledge.

90% of daytraders lose money.

Only 10% of fund managers beat S&P index.

I am not a day trader. JR is. Different approaches.

I doubt I beat the S&P most years, though I did in 2024.

Have fun with your ISA - you won't have beaten inflation since COVID, but it's a solid way to invest if you are in UK. An ISA is not available to Polish residents, and this is a forum about Poland.

If you don't want to invest in stocks and think anyone that does is a gambler and a charlatan then maybe this is not the thread for you.

Quickest way to say goodbye to your money ? Expensive vanity cars you can't really afford

I doubt I beat the S&P most years, though I did in 2024.

Can I ask why you bother? Why not just buy units in passive tracker funds?
cms neuf  2 | 1874
7 Apr 2025   #275
If you are based in the US or UK those funds are true trackers and with a very low cost. Not the case for Polish residents.

The market leaders are not available in Poland, where brokerage is dominated by banks and where there are not enough small investors for someone like Vanguard to get the scale needed, both to buy the index (which is complicated and needs attention every day) and to charge low fees.

You can of course get zloty based ETFs and I have some. You can also get US ETFs managed by a bank like Santander or Citi but they are more expensive than just having your own portfolio.

Last 10 years beat the S&P 3x, down 5x and roughly equal twice. Another personal reason is that I like dividend paying stocks to give me a passive income and that is not the same as just using a market tracker.

buy the index (which is complicated and needs attention every day) and to charge low fees.

If I had any doubts, you just removed them with one of the most stupid posts. Are index funds complicated and need attention every day?
A few years ago, I bought 100,000 wort of VOO shares and nearly doubled the money without really thinking about it. Is that your idea of an index fund being complicated? Get out of the market before you lose your ar*se.
cms neuf  2 | 1874
7 Apr 2025   #277
For the customers it is simple - you can do nothing.

For the people who manage them yes they are complicated - someone needs to constantly buy and sell the relevant stocks - which is expensive and time consuming. Hence not worth doing for small markets

You are, it seems, unable to read.

Give us your tips - that is what this thread is for

Stupid people rely on tips; are you stupid? Well, it is too late for question, the fact is already established. People offering tips are as*holes who know nothing of value
but a big need to feel important

What you just described is called churning.Constant buying and selling benifits the dishonest broker. win or lose he is always getting pay, but you paying the brckrage fees may end up in a poor house

Hey, Ptak, I love your posts. They're hard hitting but in that very special, well-mannered Ptak way that makes me laugh.

I just read them to my wife...

I hope she likes my posts because I love her from a distance and platonically, of course:::)))

I wonder what happened to trade experts, who are probably hiding and licking their wounds, unlike me, who rejoiced in my intuition and bought lots of stocks yesterday. Congratulations on the perfect timing.Rewords for thinking for myself and believing in America's greatness. Note to the financial genius: it is not too late. Buy, buy, buy.

Not sure why the euphoria Ptak - the US markets have gained about 0,2 percent today

Europe was up quite nicely though - mainly because they close while Golden Cow is having his breakfast

Yes I am licking my wounds but staying out the market for a month - no buying, no selling. Have bought some Polish and French govt bonds and that is it

How many Europeans did he have for breakfast? I see they are lining up nicely, just waiting to be devoured. Remember no more fake barriers, you can kip the one
providing Euros with chicken sh*t for in your scrambled eggs. Americans are more discriminating and prefer clean eggs.As far as elation is concerned, right now, I am only happy with my decision (almost 1000 points up); elation will come later with 4000 points up or higher in the next few months. Buy now, you dolt.

You are not the sharpest knife in the drawer. When the market was hovering in record territory, I went 90% cash. Now, I am the king of the hill.
Dufuses like you lost your ar*e and are all in the market, no cash available, terrified, trembling in fear. For God's sake, whatever cash is available and fear is paralyzing you, buy safe, and indexes are as safe as they come.

Trump has just trashed the global economy and that includes the USA.

Wall Sreet Trader Bill Ackman, who is one of Trump's most faithful backers, has said that trump needs to put his tariff war on hold or risk a self induced economic nuclear winter. When someone like that says it you need to pay attention!

Jamie Dimon of JP Morgan has said that this new trade war threatens to throw the whole US economy into recession.

Lastly, even Elon Musk is calling for a free trade zone between the USA and Europe.

Trump has got this wrong, unless it is a well organised bluff and he backtracks soon, which he often does.....

When someone like that says it you need to pay attention!

Only if he offers a solution to the problem of 800B of trade deficit and 3T of annual federal deficit.

Trump has got this wrong,

Propose what is right.

Who would have thought it ? A man who calls me an idiot, a dolt, a dufuss and says he is king of the hill doesn't want a simple no money challenge

Can put 50 bucks on it if you want

You just said you have been buying loads of stocks yesterday so surely there are plenty you could name.

Trump has got this wrong, unless it is a well organised bluff and he backtracks soon, which he often does..

They are lining up at the WH to make a deal with Trump, except China.

Over 50 countries seek US trade talks after tariffs: Trump officials
More than 50 countries have directly contacted the White House to initiate trade talks following US President Donald Trump's imposition of wide-ranging punitive tariffs, administration officials have said.

He will make them a deal they cant refuse:)

Over 50 countries seek US trade talks after tariffs

Maybe these 50 countries (including China), as well as those who don't seek trade talks, should sell all the dollars and American bonds that they have, effectively turning dollar into a toilet paper (no more printing dollars and spreading inflation all over the globe for America). Perhaps they should also refuse to make any sort of transactions in dollars and stop all trade with the USA? I wonder who will first feel the consequences more heavily - the world or the USA. :)

Maybe the world should come to the conclusion that it's time to stop the exorbitant American consumption and their raping of the entire planet Earth? If an average Chinese consumed as much as an average American, we would need three additional planet Earths--is it fair?

It's a pity that it came to that but that's what happens when you choose a caveman to be your president.

Just like with putin?

No, moron. We can't force Putin to do what he doesn't want to do. BTW, Putin is smart and won't fall for another Western lie.

But we can force China no to ship stuff we don't want. Duh!

See the difference now?

you choose a caveman to be your president.

OK, genius.

We have 36T debt. 3T annual deficit. 800B trade deficit.

What is your plan?

BTW, you couldn't afford the front door in that caveman's cave, azzhole...
Torq  10 | 1118

What is your plan?

Start living within your means. Don't spend more than you earn. Put an irrevocable government ban on all budget deficits. Rebuild your industry. Bring back the gold standard. Go back to good old American thrift and curb the exorbitant consumerism. It's all common sense really.

The most idiotic thing that you can do in the current situation is start a trade war with the entire world--a trade war that will put your most valuable asset, American Dollar, at peril and risk its position as international reserve currency. It's beyond retarded to put huge tariffs on all imports because the tariffs that your caveman of a president imposes will eventually be paid for by your own people.

And don't get me wrong - I don't want to see the downfall of America; I made nice money on American index funds and I don't mind strong American economy because almost the entire world benefits from the system but Trump is making a complete and utter mess of it all. Instead of telling American people that they have been living way beyond their means for decades (this applies to the rich and the middle classes) and now it's time for belt-tightening, hard work and thrift, he imagines that the entire world will pay for American profligacy. Ain't no gonna happen.

you couldn't afford the front door in that caveman's cave, azzhole...

Well, I didn't get half-a-billion bucks from my Dad :)

Well I'm off to a good start Ptak - Nike up 11 percent, Apple up 10 percent, Kraft up 5 percent

You are still lacing your shoes ? You never provided your tips
Novichok  4 | 8748

Start living within your means.

I agree...

1. Get out of NATO, stop funding the UN, end all foreign aid.
2. Lower DoD budget by 75% to 200B.
3. Stop making artillery and tanks
4. Stop all foreign trade except for rare metals and food.
6. Stop all low-IQ non-white immigration.
7. Close all embassies.
8. Ban credit cards.
9. Allow debit cards only.
10. Demand 25% down payment on all car and house loans

is start a trade war with the entire world

...but the entire world, the EU included, can continue the tariff war against the US, right?

In other words...EU tariifs - good and peaceful. US tariffs - bad and a war. Did I get it right?

Are you the only Polish moron or are there more like you in Poland?

You never provided your tips

Post you account statement from January 1 till today. You can black out personal stuff.

Then we will talk about your tips.

Nope - because this competition started yesterday and you are not invited anyway. You stick to the used car market where you obviously know your onions.

Of course I am not going to put my account statement online but to March 31st for US was 6 percent down, for EUR 3 percent down, Polish 1% down.

Best perfomer Rheinmetall, worst performer Amazon.

Why not? If you black out personal data, it's totally harmless.
