Jon is just winding you up, we Brits see American team sports as a bit pathetic.
Rounders is a girl's game over here, but is very similar to Baseball.
Netball is also a girl's game here and is very similar to Basketball.
American Football is a man's game similar to Rugby, but your players need to wear armour to play it whilst ours dont.
The summary is that most Brits regard American team sports as wimpy or effminate.
I am not saying that I completely agree with this view, but have to admit to having some sympathy for it.
Hope this explains the different transatlantic views.

I beg to differ. It's a tough manly sport. Not that I ever played, but I've gone to several MLS games in my fair city and it's not wimpy play-not wimpy at all. Not saying it's tough on the level of football where a guy 240 pounds of muscle barrels down on you at 4.5 40 speed with the intention of ensuring the pain you feel is felt in your mother's womb from whence you came, but it's tough nonetheless.

One of my younger brothers played college ball (bigger, faster guys) and that was brutal-dude couldn't move for a day after a game without his body begging for mercy. Ya, I know, its a lot of cardio and always gets the blood pumping on PF too! I actually like to play Golf, not watch. Ive tried Soccer games and have been to Polish bars watching with my friends, but just cant get into it at all.

Try to catch a live Chicago fire game--great live spectator sport. Better than a live NFL game, IMO.


I worked at a music place back in my wayward youth that had a steady stream of local NFL guys come in. They're underpaid--that size at the speed they play demands heaps of cash to take that risk. I'd rather swim with sharks, at least there's a chance they won't bite, those football dudes are there to attack you.


I've seen a couple. Stupidity that's all--those guys just need a cup of soup and their dads to give them a hug.

I prefer League rather than Union (13 men rather than 15).

Football (association football) is still the worldwide game, the one that attracts the most support. It's probably the national game of most countries and with justification.

Actually the popularity of Soccer has grown after the woke policies and knee taking by the NFL a few years ago. It has noticeably stopped after it hurt their bottom line. There are still many ppl that refuse to watch. Ive just grown bored with professional sports and their attitudes. But if the Chicago Bears have a winning season, Ill become a fan again!

I used to go to Baseball games all the time and realized I was just going for the party and hot chicks. If you ever decide to go to a game make sure its a Cubs game at Chicagos largest bar:)
