l me that looking in the ol' proverbial want ads is how Americans "get ahead"LOL
Spare us the jealous meltdown. You rant about bribery and backdoor deals because deep down, you know you'd never make it on merit. You didn't fail because the system's rigged, you failed because you never had the grit to compete. So keep crying about Horatio Alger while the rest of us actually move forward without needing a handout or a conspiracy theory."
@Lyzko You are delusional. To get ahead takes hard work, and a lot of it. Eight hours a day working for someone else is not how you achieve any level of real success. All the people whining are people who want a "job". All the people winning, are people who are working one or more jobs while saving and creating their own opportunity. There are those who should be worker bee's and those that should lead. Worker bee's fill a need, but are constantly replaced.
@Joker All the whiners here on PF have one thing in common. They never took a chance on themselves. They never challenged the system, or tested the theories that were spoon fed to them while growing up and getting their grade school education. My Polish friends do not understand the level of compete Americans have, they have no clue. Ask them to work a 16 hour day for five years and their heads will explode. Tell them to take their 3 weeks vacation and use it to work on their own financial freedom, and they look at you like you have lost your mind. Then they complain about not having enough money to take a trip to the US and will go to Croatia instead.
All the people who complain about the "system" are the ones who usually want to replace that system, one proven to work over centuries, with another system that has been proven to fail time and again. Socialism is just another phrase for "death by a thousand paper cuts".
@Alien Is sacrificing 5 years worth being able to give your family financial freedom? All of my children have their own home, no mortgage because I was able to do that for them. Imagine having that as a young adult starting out in life. Chances make champions. I dont understand, and have no sympathy for people who complain and do nothing about the things they are complaining about. The world is not a fair place, life is hard. The sooner people recognize this, the more likely they are to be able to compete with everyone else who wants more out of life. The idea of a free ride is a socialist idea. Socialism and communism always fail because there is no such thing as everyone being equal. Some are born smarter or more physically gifted, thats just genetics. Unless handicapped in some way, the one thing everyone has is opportunity to make choices, if you chose to do nothing, its still a choice.
Merely to recount a once known story of former NY State Gov. Al Smith, erstwhile fresh-faced Irish kid from the Lower East Side, once given a cabinet tour of NYU Law Library while still Governor, who abruptly remarked in his thick Lower East Side "brogue",
HEY, LOOKY THERE AT THAT YOUNG MAN WITH HIS LAW BOOKS, STUDYIN' HOW TO COLLECT A BRIBE AND CALL IT A FEE!
Wake up and smell the coffee, guys! If getting ahead were only a matter of application and hard work (of which most people out there possess but plenty!!), there'd be practically no homelessness and nearly as little unemployment.
Everybody knows, especially you two, that EVERYONE needs just a little push in order to ease the application process - pass a little envelope at collection time to Father McKinnon who then passes it along to his Monsignor and we're in business.
Y'all know it, y'all simply won't admit it....as with most Americans.
The history of success in American labor can often be reduced to a little, one-syllable word, PULL!!
As for myself, rather than a jealous meltdown, I'm the ultimate recipient of everything I've just been posting. Mom and Dad joined a shul right around when I was born, paid into the synagogue and it facilitated any number of later opportunities, among them, securing a job so as I could marry:-)
However, the Supreme Court remains under the thumb of Trump's control which is NOT as it should be!
Ah yes, the Supreme Court isn't doing what you want, so it must be 'under Trump's control. Classic tantrum logic. It's called separation of powers, not do what crybabies demand. Maybe if you spent less time sulking and more time understanding civics, you wouldn't embarrass yourself with takes like this. lol
Perhaps if more American citizens were less embarrassed by "tantrum logic", the more Trump might have no choice but to hear what the Opposition is saying!
Sort of reminds me of during the Johnson Era and the so-called "silent majority"; the majority's not silent, the government's deaf.
@Lyzko Youre delusional. I came from nothing. No help, no push. None is ever needed. Hard work, and a little luck. Homelessness in the US is predominantly due to drug use and/or mental illness. Your outlook on life is simply not supported by facts. Your lone experience is not the majority of experiences. Bezos, Musk, Gates, and so many others made things happen with an idea and hard work. Thats how the real world is.
And btw, no one cares what the democratic far left is saying. We dont have to care, thats the beauty of freedom of speech. The USSC is made up of multiple appointments from more than one President. Boo hoo, you dont like their rulings? Too bad. Life is hard. Grow some balls and move forward. Stop wasting time on issues, and start spending time on living.
As I remarked to Rich, we've only your word for what you've posted. I too can post rags-to-riches sob stories. Any relation to the truth remains to be seen:-)
Just bear in mind for the bazillionth time; the world pre-Reagan, for that matter, pre Woodstock, well before you came into this nutsy world, is a far cry from what it is today.
According to the front page of today's NYT, Trump wants to alienate even further the middle class from the billionaire class.
Joy Reid blasts Alligator Alcatraz as a 'concentration camp for brown people'
No, brown moron, it's not a concentration camp SS-style (which is what you, brown POS, are implying) since the inmates in our "camp" are there VOLUNTARILY.
They can always leave the US by self-deporting...We will happily provide free transport, coffee, and cookies...Just GTFO...one way or another...
Trump wants to alienate even further the middle class from the billionaire class.
As I said...You are a moron not worth responding to...I can come up with the BS like this all day long...
Did you know that the chief rabbi in NY hates Jews?
PAK, you, just like Bobko, are an amazing guy...When God was allocating patience, you two got what was meant for five guys like me...
@Lyzko I dont care if you believe my history or not. Its not a sob story, just another story living the American dream. I was born before Woodstock btw. As for what the NYT says, I dont pay attention to it. The paper has gone to $hit since the start of this century.
Trumps brave new world is a safe new world where every fvcking scumbag who enters the country illegaly is deported. Why is it that every illegal, every muslim terrorist, every towel head religious freak wants to come to White Christian countries and not countries that have their same or similar views? Answer that question lefties.
Tariff's only objective is to bring jobs back home, not to make goods cheaper.
So, how does it benefit the company owner or the American people? Americans are forced to pay the tariffs, not the Chinese. No matter what, they will be forced to pay more, so this is a good deal for them? Even if the scam "objective" is reached, you will still have to pay much more than today.
Trump tariffs are paid by the same kind of people who pay tariffs in Europe.
American business owners who will have to raise prices for the American consumer. EVEN IF they start producing at home, the prices will have to go up at least the same amount the Trump tariffs are, ie. 25%. Is it good in your opinion (normally I'd call a person who thinks this way stupid, but let's give you a benefit of a doubt).
