Sorry, I grew up there, and have done plenty of research on the Civil war. Slavery was not about the industrial revolution, or the North would have been all in on keeping it.

No slavery per se, but the perception of the people in the South was that the North wanted to take away (or share) the wealth they had accumulated thanks to their hard work, industry, and sacrifice. That it is an intrusion and attack on their way of life.

Funny, my family had a whole lot of property that they were never compensated for. But hey, must have been an oversight.
