God and Religion Talk

So it's a concept, not a place.

It's neither.
Heaven or Hell refers to the soul in relation to God. When your soul is in eternal union with God after death you're in Heaven. When your soul is eternally separated from Him, you're in Hell.
Is God a concept?

To some people, God is a concept.

It seems to be Catholic theology that bothers you most, but there are plenty of people who don't accept the theology of the Catholic Church, yet they still believe in God. God and religion are not one and the same.

Heaven or Hell refers to the soul

Whose soul?

What's a soul?

How does "soul" fit in the sentence: You will go to Hell!

Sure looks like a mosaic of verbal salad to me...Word A defining B, and B defining A...

To some people, God is a concept.

So whoever said "You will stand before God" was playing fast and loose with the language. Right?

Another metaphor? Or is everything about Catholicism just a collection of metaphors, including "walking on water"?

If you say yes, I am good and have no further questions.

If you say no, I would appreciate two separate lists:

List A: It really happened.

List B: It's a metaphor.

For example: the Big Flood...A or B?

Why are you so fixated on theology? It's all just bells and whistles.

It's all just bells and whistles.

Real or imaginary...Truth or lies...

Over time, I learned that all crooks and swindlers love imaginary crap and lies, delivered when the gullible are either silent or chanting. No questions..

I demand clarity. If it's claimed to be real, I want evidence. If it's a belief, I am out and gone. Today, the manipulators expect me to believe that a man can be a woman.

Popes and their helpers are not one iota better.

At 14, I realized that God and everything else is just a story sprinkled wth miracles and clever BS. That day I was free.

I resent being told that I am a Catholic forever...I don't accept stories about Santa, either. God doesn't own me just because somebody took me to church when I was 7.

Thousands of years ago, there was this first person - most likely a man - who said the word God, followed by "I am God's special messenger", and an explanation of what would happen to those who would disobey that man.

This was the moment when a man created God, similar to when a man created an object that can fly. We call it an airplane. Not one damn bit of difference.

BS. Gravity has been proven beyond any doubt.

If gravity is a force that holds our moon in orbit, how come the attraction exhibited by a refrigerator magnet is more powerful? If "gravity" is what "pulls" the moon towards us, then how in the fu*ck can it fail to pull the magnet off the refrigerator?

Charged bodies in a field of plasma behave identically to the orbits of all the mass we attribute gravitational pulls to. Prove to me there is any need for gravity at all.

People who spend time in zero gravity get sick and lose muscle.

From God @Novichok:

Proverbs 29:9 "Arguing with an irresponsible fool is useless! The result will always be the same: he gets angry or mocks what you say."

Amen.

Proverbs 29:9 "Arguing with an irresponsible fool is useless!

Novichok 31:2 Arguing is useless when you can't win.
Novichok 31:3 When you can't win, call the opponent a fool.

So, who said God first? A human or an invisible voice from up above?

Why is God in the movies not like the lady above?

Always a 7x-year-old man.

Or like this one:

Did anyone ever see God?

How about talking to God?

Does God have an email or a cell phone?

Anyone who invented the Universe, should by now have both.

I resent being told that I am a Catholic forever.....God doesn't own me just because somebody took me to church when I was 7.

You're not a Catholic because somebody took you to church, but because you were baptised. According to the teachings of the Church, baptism leaves an indelible mark on the soul. However, of course you can stop practising the faith at any time.

At 14, I realized that God and everything else is just a story

At fourteen I began questioning many aspects of the Church's teachings and stopped going to Confession, thus also stopped going to Communion. I rejected the teachings that made no sense to me in relation to what I knew of God, things that were contradictory, things that appeared to have been invented though we were told they were all divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit. I separated the bells and whistles, as I call them, of organised religion from the simple truth that is God.

But I still find a lot of beauty and truth in aspects of Catholicism. I think also the fact that I had acquaintance with Orders such as the Franciscans, the Dominicans and Benedictines and wasn't subjected to the fire and brimstone variety of Christianity (either in school or at home), probably left me with an overall positive experience of Catholicism. Although I was facetious in my earlier comment about theology, there are some writings and practices within Catholicism that are really beautiful and beneficial to one's well-being.

How about talking to God?

We talk to Him in prayer and if you pray with an open heart, you will hear Him.

Why

Why are your questions so shallow? It's pathetic. I will make it simple for you. Here is your head, and here is a hammer if you won't stop blaspheming on this forum, Mr hammer will meet your head.

but because you were baptised.

...without my consent and awareness...

That's why Western Europe banned gender-affirming surgeries for minors.

We talk to Him in prayer and if you pray with an open heart, you will hear Him.

Have you ever heard God's voice? What did he say?

343 continued...

Again...metaphor vs reality...No, I am not trying to be a wiseguy...Just saying...

About the rest of your post...I appreciate the effort and honesty.

I am for religion just as I am for anything that makes people feel that they belong and derive a sense of security from it.

That's why I made sure that both of my daughters got all the basics of Catholicism - just as I did. The results are as I expected and can be proud of.

Did you have them baptised Novi?
Novichok  7 | 11802

Of course! Plus the Communion and Confirmation...

As a parent, it was my duty to give this starter kit. The rest was up to them...

That's interesting in view of the fact that you don't seem too happy at being a Catholic by default yourself, without having a choice in the matter - which I can understand. As cradle Catholics, you and I had the faith wished upon us, whereas those who choose it have only themselves to blame :)

Why did you decide to baptise them, if you don't mind explaining? I'm presuming it was because your wife wanted it? Do the wife and children know that you don't believe in God?

@Novichok
Are you going to be cremated or buried? Have you discussed it with your family?

Why did you decide to baptise them, if you don't mind explaining?

No, I don't mind.

Wife + plus the tradition. When I was 7, nobody ever discussed other options. Lacking good reasons to object, I went along ...happily.

When I visited Radom in 2017, my first steps were to the church where I got my first Communion. It was during a mass, so I heard a singer from up above by the organ.

When she was done, I asked her to have tea with me...She did, and we talked for over an hour in Teatralna ... right next to where I used to live...Talking to strangers is how I create my best memories...

Are you going to be cremated or buried?

Against all logic and reason, I hate cremation. My wife already bought the whole thing - cremation and the "condo", as she calls it.

I hope to die in my red Corvette when it falls from a very high cliff somewhere in Arizona.

Joke aside... I will leave it to my "loved ones" to decide. They will get enough money from me not to complain...

I hate cremation

Well, then your only option would be to be buried at a cemetery. But in the US, they most likely require you to be a church member to get a Catholic funeral. I haven't researched it, but would it be possible to get buried without a mass - probably not in a Catholic church. You may want to pick a Protestant church then, but - again - they may require you to become a member first.

According to the Catholic tradition, people will pray for the deceased - will there be anyone who would pray for you? I guess a stranger would because they won't know you don't want their prayers.

I don't know any of that...

After my wife decided on cremation, I am having nightmares...

Don't get surprised (pun intended) you will also get cremated after your family realizes it's too much hassle to have you buried without proper credentials, membership, and stuff.

I won't care.

The only thing I am concerned about is that my soul will go up and see some azzhole driving my Corvette, with my wife next to him...

Because of that, my soul is for sale...Today, 25 bucks...PM if you are interested...

Why wait until he dies to bury or cremate?

Because of that, my soul is for sale.

How about that - sell your car now, or write a simple will that you want it sold right after your death. Donate the money to your Palatine Catholic church and you'll have a proper burial guaranteed.
