Polish "Rambo" in the forest

I personally think it's humanising the victim.

You've got a point however where dead kids are concerned I prefer not to, even if, as Paw said, the name is out of the bag.

It started with "Baby P".

Last I heard police had narrowed the search to a very small area and are seriously thinking he's dead....

I need to know more about police talk in Polish and what it really means, for example in the US if police refer to a killing as 'an isolated incident' what it really means is they think they know who did it (usually a family member).

If he's dead the main question would be accident or suicide (I'd go for the latter....).

And the police have found a body (in the same reservoir where a searcher perished earlier) that they are pretty sure is Borys....

It was officially confirmed that it's the body of Grzegorz Borys.

Thank God it's over...

(in the same reservoir where a searcher perished earlier)

At least he was searching in the right place... ;/

At least he was searching in the right place

A desperately sad thing.

I sometimes wonder why the psychology is behind it when men (and it is usually men) do such crimes.

edit

I just put the name 'borys' in the search box on twitter and close-up pictures of his corpse come up, blue lips and all.

And sadly conspiracy theories seem to have started about it.

The pic in this link shows him dead so not everyone may want to click on the link.

when men (and it is usually men) do such crimes

There's a category of mentally ill men known as family destroyers (I've seen other names as well). They kill their spouses and kids and then themselves.... supposedly the reasoning is "I can't go on... and they'll never manage without me... I have to take them with me to prevent them from suffering".

This doesn't seem to be that though as family destroyer's usually wait until the family is together....

There was a similar case earlier in the summer with another soldier in the same program, wasn't there? hmmmmmm

shows him dead

Much better preserved than I would have thought.... good thing it was cold water.... any word on whether he jumped, fell or was pushed?

@mafketis, since he left his backpack it seems to me that suicide is most probable... But I guess we should wait for autopsy results.

Btw, the body was apparently found under a floating peat island in that reservoir - that island had to be cut and searched inch by inch under roots and bushes.

@jon357, I think everybody wonders how a parent can do such a thing...

And sadly conspiracy theories seem to have started about it.

Conspiracy theories started already during the manhunt.

Yeah, profilers talked earlier to the family and it's possible that it was a revenge on his family:

Yes, I wrote about it at the end of my opening post:

New, unofficial info - gunshot wound to the head. The investigators assume for now that the most probable cause of death is suicide with the use of a homemade gun:

And more new info (official this time) - preliminary autopsy results:

wiadomosci.wp.pl/smierc-grzegorza-borysa-wstepne-wyniki-sekcji-zwlok-6960587602537152a

The direct cause of death of Grzegorz Borys was drowning - probably around two weeks ago. He had cut wounds on his forearms, thighs and neck typical for people trying to commit suicide. He also had two gunshot wounds from a pneumatic weapon on his temple - those didn't kill him, they could only stun him. They haven't found the gun yet.

Also, an investigation was launched into who leaked the photos of Borys' body:

wiadomosci.wp.pl/zdjecia-zwlok-borysa-wyciekly-do-sieci-jest-ruch-sledczych-6960535908842112a

The body was identified by Borys' mother. It turns out that, similarly to that case in Reda from July, Borys gave his mother some heads-up that he's going to do something - a few days before the murder he sent his mother SMS saying that he "doesn't want to do what is going to happen". He was apologising to his mother and wrote that "maybe they will see each other again":

wiadomosci.wp.pl/grzegorz-borys-pisal-do-matki-sms-y-niepokojaca-tresc-6960631974218432a

In that case in Reda from July this year the soldier sent his mother an SMS on the day of the murder saying that he "did something terrible". The mother rushed to his place and discovered the body of her granddaughter and her son still alive in the bathroom.

Yesterday the firefighter-diver who died during the search for Grzegorz Borys was laid to rest with honours during a state funeral with numerous delegations from firefighter units and the police in attendence:

the firefighter-diver who died

Good pictures. We sometimes forget the risks that people in the uniformed services face, often for very little reward.

@jon357, true, although I personally never forget that.
