Fekk PIS! is a legal exclamation!

Julia Landowska, a student from Gdańsk, was acquitted by the court. The case concerned her shouting "f*** PiS" during a protest in defense of women's rights in 2021. The court also ordered the State Treasury to pay the costs of the proceedings. The judgment is final and is not subject to further appeal.

The defendant's defense attorney filed an appeal against the first-instance judgment. The court then found her guilty, but refrained from imposing a penalty. The court only sentenced her to a fine of PLN 50. On Thursday, the District Court in Gdańsk finally acquitted Julia Landowska and charged the State Treasury with the costs of the proceedings.

In the justification for the judgment, the judge explained that "this verb does not belong to the literary Polish language, but it strengthens the message." - Goods are protected by law, but they compete for protection. On the one hand, decency, on the other, freedom of expression. The court gave greater importance to this freedom, said Anna Czaja, judge of the District Court in Gdańsk.

In the court's opinion, issues related to termination of pregnancy are a socially important problem. Strikes in defense of women's rights aroused strong emotions among the participants. As the judge emphasized, Julia Landowska was not alone in this.

The incident occurred in 2021. Medical student Julia Landowska and her friends took part in one of the protests in Gdańsk after the Constitutional Tribunal's verdict on abortion in October 2020.

The police accused the woman of using obscene words in a public place: "Fekk PiS." A year later, the court sentenced her in absentia to a fine of PLN 50 for using vulgar words in a public place.

In September 2023, the District Court of Gdańsk-Południe found the accused guilty, but refrained from imposing a penalty. Landowska's attorney filed an appeal against the verdict.
