They attacked to help the poor Venezuelan people.

Damn, I remember saying US would beat Venezuela in 3 days, but it actually took them just 3 hours. This is what real superpower looks like, what an embarrassment for Putin.

surviving hostages

He has at least one hostage of his own now, he released a proven narco terrorist from a US jail because he as a good narco terrorist ie a right wing nut job.

The hypocrisy is breathtaking but NATO are the good guys cos ?

What is it with you and NATO today, Barney?

That right now is a TRUMP thing...solely....I doubt anybody else was informed, definitely not the other NATO members...they all watch CNN right now to get updated, I bet you! :)

Just in...the official statement of the EU:

EU Supports Transitional Government

European Commission Vice-President Kaja Kallas has stated that the EU will work towards a peaceful transfer of power, as President NicolΓ‘s Maduro lacks legitimacy. The principles of international law and the UN Charter must be respected, Kallas said.

The EU is monitoring the situation on the ground and is committed to ensuring the safety of all EU citizens in Venezuela. Kallas has also already spoken with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

So...that was that....translates into not real big displeasure over Maduro's out....

@Bratwurst Boy
Not just today but every day since the fall of the wall. NATO has long passed its usefulness and is now used to advance the interests of the US and nothing else. I don't see any difference between Trump and Putin or Biden and Putin for that matter.

@Ironside
That's the point, there are no good guys.

Germans smell cheap oil.

....gas...you mean gas...thats what we are/have been addicted to! :)

Does anyone have more info about the support Russia has gotten from Venezuela till right now and if the loss of it influences the russian war effort in Ukraine? And if at all?

that....translates into not real big displeasure over Maduro's out.

Nobody was sad when Saddam was overthrown and later arrested. The illegal invasion of Iraq still turned out to be a catastrophic mistake that damages the credibility of the West to this day... .

....that won't be a war!

Trump got what he wanted, the rest is up to the Venezuleans? Venezolans?

Regime change with whole armies invading as in Iraq or worse, Afghanistan, is so out....that has proven to be inefficient, costly and just plain not working! (Something Russia is also just learning in Ukraine)

Taking out only the main heads is so much better....

Kallas

Can't wait until some pretence is manufactured to attack Estonia like suppression of the Russian speaking population. Wonder if her reaction will be as muted?
the rest is up to the Venezuleans

The US broke it they own it but Trump doesn't have the attention span for that

....and it seems already truly over:

US operation in Venezuela now over, according to US senator

The US military operation has now ended, according to a US senator. Republican Senator Mike Lee stated early Saturday morning that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio informed him of this in a telephone call. Rubio expects "no further action in Venezuela" following Maduro's capture....

zeit.de/politik/ausland/2025-12/usa-venezuela-konflikt-donald-trump-live#event_id=eoRoRfg95r4M31chXt8y

Say what you want, but that was a flawless operation!

Taking out only the main heads is so much better

Putin can from now on do the same with leaders he dislikes, while citing Venezuela as precedent.
Bratwurst Boy  9 | 12620

....and I keep wondering why Putin is still in office and not taken out likewise too...

The war could be already over! Imagine the many innocent lifes spared if only the masterminds behind are taken out and held accountable!

if only the masterminds behind are taken out and held accountable

Well the former president of Honduras is a convicted international drug dealer but turns out he is the right kind of international drug dealer. No accountability there...

I remember saying US would beat Venezuela in 3 days, but it actually took them just 3 hours

Whether you agree with it or not, it was a goal-directed operation.... remove a hostile leader that has impoverished his country and is sending drugs to the US.

what an embarrassment for Putin

russia has no goal in Ukraine, no matter what the russians or their shills or idiotic supporters say, it's just warfare for the sake of warfare which is why the russian government is so indifferent to casualties or the effects on the russian economy.

US - military strikes to achieve goals

russia - forever war for the sake of war

it was a goal-directed operation

Goal-directed and of course highly asymmetrical.

Hard to know what this has to do with r*SSia (and a shame this can't be done with Putler).

That's just bollox. The US and its NATO hench men have been fighting wars without end for decades.

NATO

In fact, NATO has fought very little.

Some of its members may have according t9 their respective foreign policies, however NATO, no.

I keep forgetting that the US has nothing to do with NATO and doesn't know anybody in NATO.

They attacked to help the poor Venezuelan people. It had absolutely nothing to do with oil. Perish the thought.

How it always occurs to them that they are threatened by a country that has oil, so they have to defend themselves, it is truly a miracle.😁

Btw, when does the EU introduce sanctions against USA because of the aggression against Venezuela?

Hello European friends!

Can someone please translate the message below from European to plain English?

What is Frau Kallas trying to tell us?

Here Kaja Kallas says that international law and the UN Charter must be unconditionally respected.

I think it's pretty clear: illegitimate dictator, Maduro, has just been peacefully transitioned. Or something...

Democrat Senator from New Jersey:

"because the Administration knows the American people overwhelmingly reject risks pulling our nation into another war.
This strike doesn't represent strength. It's not sound foreign policy. It puts Americans at risk in Venezuela and the region, and it sends a horrible and disturbing signal to other powerful leaders across the globe that targeting a head of state is an acceptable policy for the U.S. government. This will further damage our reputation - already hurt by Trump's policies around the world - and only isolate us in a time when we need our friends and allies more than ever."

Ah I see!

So then we should expect that the EU will - imminently - cut all diplomatic, trade, and cultural ties with the aggressor nation?

What about banning America from Eurovision, and making Americans apply for Schengen visas in Burkina Faso? Can we expect this?

Perhaps Ursula Von Der Leyen and Kaja Kallas will send the Vice President of Venezuela a smart tactical sweater and a pair of black mountaineering boots - and then send him on a tour of the Bundestag, Sejm, and Parliament?

Great Bolivarian Republic - hold fast! The EU will support you "FOR AS LONG AS IT TAKES!".

Slava Venezuele! Chavistam Slava!

Sig Heil!

I think it's pretty clear

Well if you say so...

🀣

If I didn't know you, I might think that you accuse your European friends and neighbours of hypocrisy.

Sig Heil!

That was a bit unnecessary though.
