It was a mistake for Aus

we were all the way with LBJ.

Basically yes.

But they're not going to do it. It will be a 20 year war of attrition, tis been 5 so far. it'll be up there with europes greatest wars, (unf)
He was a thoroughly nice young man.

once again my deepest condolences.

it. It will be a 20 year war of attrition, tis been 5 so far

They weren't able to use the window of opportunity and do anything when Trump was stopping deliveries of weapons and putting pressure on Ukraine to make them accept whatever deal and end the war, and it was pretty much the last chance they had to make any meaningful gains. With pressure from US now going towards Russia, weapon deliveries being not only restored but upped massively, and Europe consistently increasing their own military production and pumping money into Ukraine, any possibility of a favourable ending to the war for Russia is now closed, unless they have the balls to put nukes on the table (they don't).

russia has begun laying the ideological arguments for invading the Baltics... billboards in Moscow describe Balts as untermenschen

- "Marionettes of Europe: The Entire 'Great' History of Lithuania"
- "From the Tribes of 'Letts' [Untermenschen] to Our 'Latvians'"
- "Our 'Latvians'"
- "Kaja Kallas - Baltic Canadian - Baltic Mongrel"
- "How Kallas - Estonian Canadian - Became an Estonian Mongrel"

There are rumors that putin regrets not invading the Baltics first....

NATO or its components invaded Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Iran...

Russia has ways to go before it will feel obligated to apologize...

Russia has ways to go before it will feel obligated to apologize...

In 1721 Russia paid to Swedish Crown 2 million talers and give out Finland in exchange for lands, including modern Estonia and half of Latvia. In 1795 Katherine the Great purchased the rest of modern Latvia and small part of modern Lithuania from count Biron, who was legal owner that time.

So, there is quite a lot of reasons to think twice before any apologies... Otherwise Alaska is under threat. ;)

As completely irrelevant as the usual vatnik attempts at logic. There is no successor state to the russian empire. so that's all irrelevant.

There is no successor state to the russian empire. so that's all irrelevant.

The Russian Federation is, along with other former republics, is the legal successor of the USSR, and the USSR is the predecessor state of the Russian Federation. In turn, the USSR is the legal successor of the Russian Republic, proclaimed by the Act of the Provisional Government on September 1, 1917 and existing until October 25, 1917, and, finally, the Russian Republic was the legal successor of the Russian Empire.

pumping money into Ukraine, any possibility of a favourable ending to the war for Russia is now closed

How much money are you ready to give Ukraine?

As of right now, Ukraine has absorbed more Western funds in three years, than Poland had received since 2004 from Brussels. Now remember, that Poland is the single largest recipient of EU funds in the history of this institution.

For thirty years, Ukrainians were moaning that the only reason Poland is wealthier and more developed is because it was suckling on the German teet. Well, now they've got as much money as Poland ever did, but they're poorer than they have ever been.

So... they'll likely have to ask for more. Much, much more. I've seen numbers of up to half a trillion Euro bandied about.

PiS got an all fours (unlike Orban), the minute the EU threatened to suspend fund disbursements. I can't imagine PO will act differently if it becomes apparent that Ukraine may absorb funds that were otherwise intended for Poland.

You are already blocking their agricultural and metallurgical exports. Five countries are arguing (including Poland), that Ukraine's temporary free trade arrangement must be withdrawn. Orban, Fico, and Austria are arguing that Ukraine must not be admitted to the EU - ever.

Somehow I think your predictions about "pumping money" into Ukraine will collide with reality in a very ugly way.

You "Civilized Europeans" are great at talking the "values and principles" game, until someone tries to take a couple bucks away from you. Then you act like gypsies.

Tell me - how's the promise to cut yourself off from from Russian energy going?

Don't know exactly. Maybe some dreamland with free gender change surgery and only green energy allowed.

Now let me try my way...

Poland is on EU welfare and a parasite.

He meant the US money - aka dollars - from that bottomless American money tree ...What''s another trillion added to our debt...

... and they got f*ckall from the EU anyways, despite Morawiecki signing the rule-of-law and "milestones" agreements in Brussels. Classic PiS - потерял девственность, а рубля не заработал. Maybe it is indeed a time to give Konfederacja a chance?

You don't give political little monsters a chance. Otherwise, they grow into great monsters.

Poland is on EU welfare and a parasite.

in 2024 Poland-the EU budget balance was about 1.6 billion Euro in the positive for Poland - that's about 7 billion PLN - to get things in perspective the Polish state budget income in 2024 was more than 600 billion PLN

Appearently for some people getting a nice big piece of a donut counts as a "parasite" and welfare recipients and not as having a nice desert.

What's next? Hyena of Europe? Oppressor of minorities? It's nothing new

to be fair in previous years the balance Poland-vs-the EU budget was much more in favour to Poland - however Polish contribution to the EU kept rising while the money transfers from the EU to Poland fell

Well duh! It's not without reason it was done. It's all long term self investments. Gave Poland money to bake cakes, wear a bakers outfit and ship of cake after cake westward. Poland has now a bakery or two named and owned by the west. It sells products locally too at least.

well a couple of years ago about 1/3 of the companies in Poland paid any income taxes - I believe most foreing companies were among them

Poland is still the largest beneficiary of EU subsidies. However, one day Poland will be an "adult" country and will have to support other countries on its own.

That is questionable, and other ways Poland benefits from the EU are becoming less and less.

Exactly right.

Anyway back to how Russia is losing the war in Ukraine;

Russia is showing it's increased desperation....... losers.....

How much money are you ready to give Ukraine?

Most of the aid was not money, but equipment. Already constructed, removed from active duty, wasting away in some storehouse or another. You completely miss the point of Polish national interest here, though. It's not about money, not even about temporary bleeding Russia, but about a permanent solution: blocking Russia's expansion west, which is threatening to both us and the Baltic States. Basically similar to Pilsudski's plan of creating a local coalition of countries that together form a bulwark against Russian imperialism. Independent, NATO-aligned Ukraine would be our strongest ally in this plan.

As Bobko always does.He only sees things from his very narrow minded Russian viewpoint.

Now I know for sure Polaks are nuts or always drunk.

Russian expanding west????

How about NATO expending East? "NATO" is now in the Ukraine constitution as a national objective...

Dealing with morons is so exhausting...

Russian expanding west????

Russians judge their leaders by how much land they add to the empire. It's rooted deep in their mentality. After Putin annexed Crimea his popularity skyrocketed. As long as this state of things continues, Russia will be a threat to all its neighbours. Including Poland, which twice in history was under Russian occupation/vassalage.
How about NATO expending East?

Invasion of Moldova and Georgia right after the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the bloody massacres of Chechnya showed us all that Russia is still warlike and imperialist, only weak. We prefered to use this window of opportunity to escape from the range of Russian ambitions - under protection of NATO. Fu*ck such a neighbor.
NATO expansion occured because whole Central Europe wanted to separate themselves from Russia before it was able to subjugate us again. NATO was quite reluctant to allow us in. Poland had to low key threaten that we'll seek nuclear arsenal if NATO gates remain closed to us.
