The problem is that Zelensky and Ukraine don't have the same position in the food chain, so to speak, as Macron and France do and Ukraine needs the US much more than France does. So Macron can allow himself to do that while Zelensky apparently isn't "allowed". Trump and Vance are vile people, but it often happens that you have to talk to vile people to save your country and your people.

I honestly feel sorry for Zelensky. I'd be exhausted if I had to deal with such crap at the top of leading a war effort. But that's the president's job - you have to clench your teeth and do what's best for your country and your people. There's nothing more important for a president to do.
