Mongrel, stop speaking like PiS swamp. They were said goodbye to by Polish voters. PIS homo sovieticus supporters like you didn`t suffice. Poland will be free again, not lost.

You are such a pathetic mongrel you don`t even know the lyrics of the Polish anthem.

Wishing to congratulate dear Polish members on the appointment of Morawiecki as the new prime minister of Poland, by Pan Duda!

Wishing many years of successful rule to Pan Morawiecki over his loyal serfs!

May all power accrue to him and only to him, and let his opponents all be vanquished.

As a favor to me, could you start with # as a signal that what follows is sarcasm? I am never sure...

For example:

# Z is my hero and I love him dearly for the opportunity to have this war.

Well - the topic is sort of sarcastic to begin with. This Morawiecki fella, is all but certain to lose his post in a matter of weeks.

PiS is doing some strange things, in a bid to extend their hold on power.

You can appoint a lot of people to various unelected positions in two weeks, and then it may take years to get rid of them.

Next president of Poland "Trzaskowski"? or PM after Tusk leaves for the EU?

No. This isn't russia. Once PiS fails the vote of confidence (95% chance.... conservatively speaking) they're out and the Sejm will propose a new person to form a government.

This is about PiS-ites keeping their snouts in the public trough for as long as possible.... (and maybe about separating the wheat from the chaff within PiS, I think that being appointed to this government is the kiss o' death within the party and sign the person is no longer in favor).

No. This isn't russia

Ah, so then Morawiecki's premiership of several weeks, will not yield any important appointments.

Noted.

Will check back with you in a few weeks.

I predict:

1. Victory of the opposition parties.
2. Forming of KO-PSL-P2050 ruling coalition.
3. Considerable amount of butthurt among PiS supporters.

*ekhm*

It's going to be a great week.

Hopefully they'll scrap the ridiculous 'niedziela niehandlowa' nonsense from day 1.

A rare photo of Tusk giving Szczecin back to Germany...

A rare photo

Rare indeed since there are no plans for that and in any case, unlike the PiSflappers, Premier Tusk abides by the law.

I look forward to a normal Sunday shop. It would make sense to open today, since PiS fall during the week.

As every niedziela will be.

the mall

Too much hassle, however going to the supermarket today will free up time tomorrow.

I'll give up, I'd have to go to Poland first and then, after shopping, stand in a traffic jam at the border because the Germans have introduced controls again. I'll be left with German food, Vienna sausages with mustard and potato salad. 😪

Hopefully the new Polish government will introduce measures that make those border controls no longer necessary.

the Germans have introduced controls again.

Why have they done that?
Alien  25 | 6028
10 Dec 2023   #864
Why

Officially, it is about illegal emigrants, unofficially it is more of an electoral sausage.
jon357  73 | 23224

an electoral sausage.

That makes sense. I just googled it and there was a quote from the German police Union saying that they didn't think it made a difference.

People smugglers know their stuff; they'll just go the long way round. If there's a potential asylum claim, the people will just present at the border post anyway.

I wonder what other changes will happen over the next couple of months.

I thought you care about ordinary workers.

Today is niedziela handlowa so fill your boots

My family have adapted to non-trading Sundays. Aren`t going anywhere today.

ordinary workers.

Every job has its drawbacks. One of the cons of retail is weekend work but at least it's paid. People who work in offices for example often end up doing unpaid overtime, teachers such as yourself do plenty of work outside of classroom hours for which they're not paid eg. marking homework, researching topics for lessons, preparing lesson materials/plans.
pawian  221 | 26144

but at least it's paid.

Even double in Poland. Yet, families should spend this time together. I have never supported bringing back those trading Sundays. We go shopping on Saturday or even Friday and it is perfectly fine.

I pointed to it coz jon likes playing a defender of common people who should get benefits and decent wages from ugly capitalists.

I just googled it and there was a quote from the German police Union saying that they didn't think it made a difference.

Many said similar things before those controls were introduced, but they turned out highly effective. There has been a 50% decrease in illegal border crossings ever since and more than 100 smugglers have been arrested.

I have never supported bringing back those trading Sundays

I think having them every other week (or even once a month) would be okay. Families that want to spend time together will find a way and there are other ways people have to work on weekends... it's not back in the PRL when almost everybody had working hours at the same time.

teachers such as yourself do plenty of work outside of classroom hours

I work essentially every day. Only have class a few days a week but I'm doing work for classes (or other work projects) almost every single day.
