3 reasons why you hate Poland.

3 reasons why you hate Poland.

I don't hate Poland, but I think Polish People have a way to go to catch up with the western culture:

1. They don't shower enough. Sometimes they shower like 1-2 times a week. That's NOT enough. 1-2 times a day is good, anything less it's smelly. Maybe you can't smell it, but trust me, I can.

2. Look in my eyes when you talk to me! Eye contact is important.

3. Don't trash people behind their back! This seams to be a polish
national sport.

1. When a Polish woman talks to another woman, she eyes her up from shoes to hair while you're talking to her, like what you're wearing is the most important thing in the world.

2. When a Polish man talks to another woman, he eyes her up also. But for other reasons.
3. Their favorite subject is about: who is sick , who had an operation, who's wątroba is hurting today, etc.

Lol, I thought it was only my imagination. Seen a few Polish women do this to me at the Polish churches.

What's wrong with eyeing girls?

who's wątroba is hurting today, etc.

You've met too many drunkards ; )

Lol. You noticed that too.
Poles are very fashion conscious. Especially when it comes to church. They put on their best and they look with utter disgrace if someone wears jeans to church.

1. Some Poles will not work on a Sunday, not even mow the lawn. Because that's work.
2. Poles don't trust one another. When you buy a car, the buyer doesn't trust the seller, even if the seller is telling the truth.

3. They like to push, like on a crowded bus or tramwaj. Even if there's no more room, they will still sqeeze in. Somehow. And then you smell their sweaty armpits.

Yes,but you see some mini skirts and hot shorts in church which make one reeavaluate beauty of catholicism.
I like polish women who eye you up without looking constantly at your shoes.

Hate is a very strong word as others have pointed out. OK, 3 more.

1) The chances taken at crossings. A headstrong alpha male driver approaching a hesitant/indecisive old biddie poised to cross is a recipe for disaster.

2) The backstabbing too. I received a terrible offer in the summer of 2008 to extend my contract with the school I had been teaching at for 8 months. I know now that they have 3 native speakers so they were speaking out of their arses when they said that the funds weren't there. Then the offerer had the cheek to invite me to one of her friend network things. You can imagine my delight in turning her down.

3) I'll be lenient and stick to 2 :)

I used to take it personally when a Polish female friend slagged me off behind my back despite the things I'd done for her but then I realised she and her friends do this to everyone....and each other. Now I find it funny.

Poles are very fashion conscious. Especially when it comes to church. They put on their best and they look with utter disgrace if someone wears jeans to church.

Not here in the Uk when I've been to my g/f's Polish church. Jeans, t-shirts, denim skirts etc. are more common than smart clothes. Is this because they're away from Poland and feel under less scrutiny and because they have a much younger age profile in the church here than in Poland?

If it's not too personal, what kind of things did you help her with?

Poland is much like Japan in that people go against their nature sometimes. My friend Yoko Okada has told me on several occasions that the Japanese are repressed and boiling up inside. They stick to tradition and expected ways of being waaaaaay too much and Poland is much the same. Come on people, think outside the box.

Accommodation, finding work, transport, a little financial help....purely platonic. But she just doesn't seem to see anything wrong with putting friends, workmates etc. down and spreading gossip. Now I just accept that's how she and her friends are and don't tell her anything personal. Her boyfriend's English and it drives him nuts that she can't keep her mouth shut! She creates problems with her 'honesty' then says: 'But I only tell the truth....Polish people always tell the truth to their friends even if it is painful for them.' After the first time of meeting my girlfriend she told everyone that she was 'ordinary' and 'couldn't be trusted'! I'm still with my woman and still friends with this girl....just, and on a much lower level than I thought we could be on. Ah well, live and learn.

Aha, I see your point. I've heard of some conniving types but I steer well clear. That's why I spend so much time in front of my computer as I'm just not interested in people's games or snide remarks.

Me me, gibber gibber just doesn't float my boat.

1. Some Poles will not work on a Sunday, not even mow the lawn. Because that's work.

Some will, some won't, just like any other nationality.

3. They like to push, like on a crowded bus or tramwaj. Even if there's no more room, they will still sqeeze in. Somehow. And then you smell their sweaty armpits.

You haven't seen Japanese subway, it recreates the idea of sqeezing in..

I agree that some people are not very trustful but on the other hand who isn't? Buying a car ain't a simple matter..

1) The chances taken at crossings.

Yeah, I agree, more and more accidents, more and more rounabouts on the way.. ( for example near Multikino in Zabrze ;) )

I dunno why so many people put pressure on how polish people are slagging others behinds their backs.. I've met many British and Swedish people and all of them sometimes tended to put a snide remark here and there about somebody "who was not in the room".. remark or a whole story about which traits of that person they hate and for what reasons. I say these are all international syncrasies and poles are not standing out in any special way..

Yeah, they hire people with white gloves to push them onto trains. That's just nuts. Youtube has some stuff on this.

Backstabbing is quite international, that's true.

Most of the older houses (particularly away from cities) are of rather poor construction, which forces people to build the visually impressive, but lacking in quality "plastic" type houses. There's nothing wrong with them, but I don't think they quite have the charm of traditionally built quality houses.

Lack of consumer protection and the general ill treatment of customers by businesses, with only IKEA showing any kind of customer good will. No it isn’t a non Polish company thing, as Tesco’s are a bunch of c**** too. Excuse that, but really hate their ‘we make the law’ policies.

The "I'm not in business to make money" line, followed by the shock, horror, 'i've just been shot/poisoned/attacked' look, after hearing "you won't mind paying me more money then?".

Not really. It's quite a common behavior at any office in the USA. :) In any country, I shall add.

some Poles won't work on a Sunday because in our culture it is considered a holy day, therefore one should not do any kind of work, including mowing the lawn.

Should they not work on Friday afternoon and on Saturday instead, like religious Jews do?
There are plenty of reasons for foreigners to hate Poland but I can't see how not working on Sundays can be among them.

It's not just Polish culture. Very few things are open in France on a Sunday to give but one of many examples.

like religious Jews

The really serious ones will barely even lift a cup because that is considered to be work. Switching on a light or a toaster is strictly out of the question.

I'm "working" today, but would much rather be asleep. Should I change religion?

i used to work in Canary Wharf in London, we got Saturdays off because of that, worked Sundays though.

I don't think so, hate is a too strong a word.

I can't see how not working on Sundays can be among them.

Yep.

I'm "working" today

I always wondered, what if you enjoy your 'work' is it still work?

:) i 'm new here but i 've noticed people love to generalize here so much.

i work with very many foreigners from almost all europe and a few other countries.people are very similar everywhere

saying that you hate Poland because you have met some dishonest girl, rude people , some hooligans, because someone swears,complains... it's typical for people all over the world..also in your own countries.i bet Poland is nothing different.and my country too.

i've met ****** dishonest rude girls in the uk but i wouldn't say i hate the uk for this reason.
i've seen Polish, British, American ,French etc. who can't dress well...is it a reason to hate the whole country? THIS IS RIDICULOUS.

you must be more open to the world and other people because i think complaining in this forum about Poland and people in general is more frequent than the world's average.

My French version's been deleted - have to write in English.
It's as simple as that Ced but, unfortunatelly, many who post here don't understand, or don't want to understand that.

THIS IS RIDICULOUS.

Absolutely, so my advise is have a sense of humour and answer ridiculously.
There are very many good posters on this forum, I have learned to skip a lot of the more negative/general/uneducated/or just hateful people's posts and enjoy the rest of the forum.

It's all about what you allow yourself to see and like the newspapers, bad news sells better.

My French version's been deleted - have to write in English.
It's as simple as that Ced

? That doesn't make sence.
This forum is in English and you break the rules so that means people make huge stupid generalisations?
Nope, I don't understand what you are saying.

Hang on a minute there chief, without looking through the thread im sure there are many posts such as you mentioned. But, there are many characteristic issues with Poland and they dont include some of the points you mentioned. Perhaps its Eastern Europe, i dont know but ive certainly never experienced them before, it takes a Western European to spot them and say hey, this shoudnt be like that.

Rude people are a common occurance in Poland, yes there are rude people everywhere but not at this magnitude, as for Polish women, hooligans and the such - yes i agree.

You mentioned youre new here, what to Poland as well?

it takes a Western European to spot them and say hey, this shoudnt be like that.

But why is the Western European way better by default? Maybe it's you who are mistaken and should learn from us? ;-)
After all, it's all a question of perspective. There are loads of things in the UK that I think "shouldn't be like that" - but it's not my country, so I don't start threads about "things I hate in the UK".

After all, it's all a question of perspective.

Indeed, i remember being stranded on a broken down train near £eba and a Pole was saying to me in English this is typical of Poland, but thats not the issue only an example.

Maybe it's you who are mistaken and should learn from us? ;-)

I have learned to be a miserable fcuker when im shopping.

There are loads of things in the UK that I think "shouldn't be like that" - but it's not my country, so I don't start threads about "things I hate in the UK".

maybe you dont but some Poles do and did and i totally accept that, im the first to ridicule England as and when its required. Look, i know many Poles that come back to Poland after being in England for a few years and their like ohh not all this **** again, perspectives as you say. Their all happy about the food and many other things which make Poland acceptable.

One of the things i hate about Poland are the roads, nothing is gonna change the fact that they suck is it now?

dont include some of the points you mentioned

i have found all of them in this thread...the funniest one was about fashion in Poland.
i just don't like this thread.
i agree with Magdalena... we could start a thread like this about every country but for what? why hate? if you hate- leave.i wouldn't live in a place i hate...

every country has something irritating. many people claim the French are arrogant. i disagree with it because i know many who aren't. and i disagree with majority of the points mentioned by people here about Poles because the Poles i know are alright even if they aren't perfect.

are you all so perfect? if you aren't dont judge the others...especially whole nation.
