Last weekend I helped someone move home. Left my truck hatch open, when I came back someone nicked my bike gloves. They must have just walked by, saw them and 'love at first sight'.. They were new, bought during my last US trip. I am so $€£@#!! off. Summer coming up. I have no bike gloves!!
Prejudice about Poles; Poland has changed

Back in the sixties, we met a couple of Canadians in a Warsaw restaurant. Food was fine but their car was broken into and things stolen. I remember that day because it was the first time I had a chance to use my lousy English to be a translator at the police station.
Next morning, a knock on the door. It was Adrian - again. What's up? All of our things were stolen in the hotel. Can you help us file a police report? Sure can. Let's go.
I wonder if they ever came back to Poland.

Once burned, twice shy.
That is soooo embarrassing!!
.!! Sorry for you, buddy for having to " put your face to the music". I think I would run away....

The real almost dirty shame of it all is that Poland is a country which has given the world much of modern culture, not to mention science. from Copernicus up through Mme. ("Sklodowska") Curie.
Imagine a concert season without at least some offerings by Chopin, classic cinema without one major work by Andrzej Wajda, contemporary experimental theater omitting Jerzy Grotowski or Tadeusz Kantor etc.

That`s utter bs, in 1960s in a communist country with close police and secret police control over the society, incuding criminal circles, such a series of thefts happening to the same foreigners within 2 days was simply impossible. You are imagining things against historical reality of the times. Besides, how can you remember after 50 years the food you ate was OK? Have you never relished tasty stuff afterwards?? :):)
Nice old thread, Pawian vs. Novi, #21 must be our Strzelec, all Poles are drinkers and antisemites bla, bla. Hey folks, Poland has changed or not?
