Its surprising to see so many people defending a corporation that has done far more harm to living beings than good.

My daughter's school were going to the kids out for a day on a school trip and we looked on the list of where they were taking them and one of the places was Mczhithole - all the parents got together and were really angry and wrote a letter saying there are far better places to take them that hole and got them to change their minds.

In the end they were taken to a house museum and had a picnic in the grounds of the museum watching folk dancing which in my mind is much better than forcing that crap down them.

I would never defend McDonald's, but out of curiosity, what was their agreed upon replacement meal?

Its a good idea not to eat that in one setting, Fuzzy, but I see your point. A picnic still gives the parents options and doesmt require sending any money. When I was in school we always brought our own lunches on field trips.

this is funny- the same thing happened to my eldest daughter. They were going to Wilanow and McD's for an ice cream after. I wrote a letter saying that there were a good number of ice cream places at Wilanow- why McD's? I told them my kids don't eat McD's and told them politely why- I also said that she is allowed to have ice cream for one of the other locations at Wilanow.

I find it comical because seemingly intelligent people who send their kids to private school- literally have no idea what goes into the food at McD's.

McDonalds serves it's purpose for those who want a quick bite or tummy filler on the go.

Its very expensive compared to Polish food and my family complained of nausea after their first and last ever visit.

Its very expensive compared to Polish food

Is it? Last time I had a zapiekanka from plac nowy it cost over 12z.
Or a "hotdog" (made from turkey) from the kiosk cost about 9z.
And we all know about the "cleanliness" of those places.
It's all about personal tastes and balancing diets. Don't get me wrong I might treat myself to a McDonalds only once a month at work but like I said before, if it has a market, then it will sell.

treat myself to a McDonalds

??
Yes, I like to treat myself to my own excrement occasionally.

You can't be serious. Anything is better than McShite, KFC for instance.

KFC is full of crap also and there isn't one in my town. But I guess you eat butter bean salads for your fast food options lol

Probably something even worse.

You cant be sure parents will pack a lot of junk food in their kids lunch. Some parents put fruits and veggies kids are simply not going to get at Mcdonalds. Some do put soft drinks and junk food but at least there is personal choice involved.

Actually, you can perfectly well get good salads, fruits and veggies in McDonalds.

Mcdonalds salads are known for being fattening and the only fruit is apple slices while parents can just put grapes, bananas, carrot sticks or celery in the lunch without fattening salad dressing and cheese.

the fruits and veg at mcd's have had a preservative added to them to keep them fresh longer.

honestly, mcd's has no redeeming qualities. from their foods to their business practices- they are as revolting as it gets with walmart coming in a close second.

again, not defending McD's, but do you have any proof of that?

"Despite the fragility of the salads and fruit, McDonald's says it does not use any artificial preservatives or additives to keep them fresh longer."

From a 2005 New York Times article.
When I go to a mac shack I go to have an unhealthy fast food fix. If I want healthy food, I go to a milk bar. Everyone knows what MacDonalds' food is.

it is written on the package of apples. it is a chemical that is added so they don't turn brown.

I have a friend who used to work at mcd's when we were in high school. horror stories.

Vitamin c is used as an Antioxidant (stops things turning brown) but occurs naturally.

it is written on the package of apples.

I agree, who would buy a packet of apples instead of buying an apple?

If I want healthy food, I go to a milk bar.

haha, that's funny.

i used to go to a milk bar near Wroclaw University, I'd get pierogi in a pool of butter and fried pork cutlet. mmmmm mmmm good. i believe it had somewhere in the vacinity of 3,948,293 calories.

haha, that's funny.

Glad I gave you a laugh. You don't of course, have to have pierogi swimming in butter in a milk bar. The one I use most has good healthy food on offer every day, including a choice of about ten salads.

You don't of course, have to have pierogi swimming in butter in a milk bar.

You don't of course, have to order the Big Mac with FF and a large Coke, either.

In general I find it to be a bad idea citing "Polish food" on its own when comparing to McD's. I would assume McD's goes into the preservatives more than your avergage milk bar fare (but even that I'm not totally sure of, I'm assuming based on heresay), but if we're talking fat/sugar/calorie content, one should be more specific when referring to polish milk bars in general.

life is getting busier and busier and convenience is the new crowned king in most developed countries

We were far busier when we worked 60+ hours a week in industry (it wasn't that long ago, and I was one of them), yet we ate fewer takeaways back then, so it's just an excuse in my opinion.

I still work very long shifts (including nights) but I can easily cook three different dishes (equalling up to 18 portions) in a few hours on a day off. This saves time later, as it takes about 5-7 minutes to reheat in a microwave. That's truly fast food :)

It's easy to do if you know how, but "too busy" generally means "no time for Facebook/TV/the pub" etc. these days. A lot of people are just lazier than they used to be.

It's some kind of mineral mixture they add to the apple slices.

People watch supersize me, it'll give you a little bit of insight. The guy who made that film later hosted a TV program where people took part in eating challenges, you know life stuffing their faces with crappy food as fast as possible. Gotta love the irony.
