Healthcare Cover in Poland - accessing Spanish healthcare through ZUS?

Hi, I am British 60yrs old and live in Poland with my Polish husband. We do not work but pay into ZUS healthcare monthly. I am thinking of buying a place in Spain, not to live permanently but as a holiday home. Does anyone know if we will be able to access Spanish healthcare using ZUS or will we have to buy private health insurance?

Polish citizens holding a European health card (which is issued on demand with no further conditions) can access healthcare in other EU countries (as far as I know) just like those countries' citizens

your situation though looks more complicated and I am pedestrian in these matters (I only know about Poles being able to access healthcare in say Germany thanks to the special card because my mom used to work in Germany and obtained the card just in case)

however, if this may indicate anything, my dad who was working in Holland and was only insured there (was not paying ZUS in Poland) was admitted to a hospital in Poland with just his EU health card (or whatever it is formally called)

Edit: just checked it: the card is called "Europejska karta ubezpieczenia zdrowotnego" (European health insurance card)

I think it's Polish residents paying into ZUS (or permanent residents?) I'm not a citizen but I have karta staƂego pobytu and I also have EKUZ (never had to use it so don't know how well it would work for me...)
