They both have flower stalks (scapes) on them?
The climate for gardening in Poland
Exactly!! But why???
Could be the end of the leek lifecycle but they can be produced in response to extreme weather. Cut them off and the leek will keep growing.
You can eat them which I'm sure you've done.

Yes! What is this cycle exactly??
they can be produced in response to extreme weather.
Not in late May, though. :):):
What can you see?

Do you remember that patch where I sowed scorzonera?
https://polishforums.com/life/poland-climate-gardening-84849/6/#msg1961507
I was so proud of those hills. And what happened? First, I had to weed to patch coz I couldn`t see my plants. It turned out that only 1/3 seeds worked. Then, one morning, I noticed with horror that most of the new plants were meticulously nibbled at by hares. They kept growing but are still too little to grow a nice root. And now I see I have to weed it again. Kurwa mać! czasem mam dośc.
I already purchased barbed wire and am going to use it around some valuable patches. Hares will get a surprise. They should thank Goddess we don`t live in the US - coz their skins would already be drying in the sun on sticks around my fields as a deterrent. hahahaha

Sweet chestnuts! Why was I so surprised seeing the fruit? I had always believed the tree had to be very big to give fruit. While ours is only 8 years old.
Each year offers me some surprises and there is always the first time when I see some new fruit on trees which I planted long ago.
This year I eventually was lucky to see first:
apricot
mullberry
paper apple
seaberry
I am slowly running of old trees to give fruit at last. That is why I have already planted a dozen new ones this year. Amasing.
the leek
When I grow seedlings for spring planting, leek ones are my wife`s favourite coz they look like an exact tiny copy of a mature plant

What can you see?
Some very blurred plants.
meticulously nibbled at by hares.
Have you seen them eating the plants? I've never actually seen a hare.
Some very blurred plants.
yes, the photo is blurred because the camera was moving fast. But there is sth else clearly visible. What namely???
Have you seen them eating the plants?
Nope because when I see them, they are already busy running away after hearing or noticing me coming. :):):) And when I come closer to the place where they have dined, I can see the evidence of their feasts.
There is one old fat hare which isn`t afraid like others. He starts running at the very last moment, when I approach by about 20 metres.
What namely??
Are you talking about the pieces of paper hung up?
Yes! Except it wasn`t paper which would be ruined by rain. What are those white objects???
@pawian white objects???
I can barely see them but are they pieces of plastic showing the varieties of the particular plant available?

Yes, exactly! So what is this whole display for??
Hints - fast moving camera. :):):)
And the date stamp.

And the date stamp.
So what is this whole display for??
No idea. Presumably you can buy the plants but the date has no particular significance I can think of.
Presumably you can buy the plants
Yes! A gardener/farmer puts seedlings on display for passing drivers to stop and buy.
The date has a huge significance - it is the time to plant seedlings!!!

That was the part I thought was so obvious that I presumed the riddle had to be something else.
it is the time to plant seedlings!!!
On one particular day? Weird.
That was the part I thought was so obvious
hahahaha Tricky.
What counts is that you guessed again. Good work.
On one particular day?
Why one? They sale continues throughout the whole May. Do you want me to take of photo of that stand every day for 30 days?
We talked about fig trees several times. So, yes, since 2015, this year it has been the second time when they perished during winter with minus 20 temps for more than a week.
I cut down all the dead stems and now am going to grow them in one trunk version which will be easier to protect against frost.

fig trees
Have you ever had fruit before?
Yes, one or two which ripened and a dozen which didn`t on each tree.
@pawian
I am reminded of your last food riddle, which I thought were dates. But maybe they were your figs?

paper apple
Here it is. I didn`t notice it at first coz it was hidden in this greenery. Paper apples were the fruit of my childhood in 1970s - they were very popular then. Strangely, they ceased to. Now they are advertised as vintage apple trees by seedling growers.

I am a little obsessed in the orchard, I must say. I mean I maintain those fruit plants as trees even when they have a natural tendency to grow as bush/shrub. My obsession costs me time spent twice or thrice a year on pruning shoots on the ground level.
Hazelnut trees, not shrubs. We have 3 now. Initially, it was 1 and I was perplexed why it didn`t have any nuts for a few years. Later I read about cross pollinating.

Paper apples
I didn't know what these were so I read up on them. You might find this interesting:

Thanks, it is. Memories revived. :)::)
BTW, if you are here, can you look at the picture of the paper apple tree and tell me what is unusual about it??? And I don`t mean that solitary apple.
It's got a very thin twisted/curved trunk?
Oh, I just noticed it is curved. No, a lot of plants on my farm are so twisted that it doesn`t impress me anymore. It is sth else.
Looks like what could be a couple of red flowers on the tree?
Impossible if there is already ripe fruit.
No, there is a fence net around the tree which covers not only the trunk but also the top part.

I saw that but the fence net was so obvious I didn't think it was worth mentioning.
