Of course they are a few weeks past the harvest date. That is why I said: It is the end of July.

Spring is here - where are those seed catalogues?

I don`t use catalogues coz I am no longer a new bee in the gardening business, I am an old practitioner. :):):) I already sowed the seeds 2 weeks ago.

The most natural storeroom for veg in winter time is the ground!

Here, leeks dug out from the ground according to needs. Leek doesn`t need any covering, endures extreme temps - completely frost resistant.
However, digging it out is possible only when the ground isn`t frozen.

Other veg require covering. E.g, black radish. I lost one crop a few years ago due to heavy frost.

requires hilling

Asparagus

Sorry, no. I grow green asparagus without hilling. :):):)

Check the cover of the seed bag on the left. Asparagus isn`t brown. :):):

The problem with the discussed veg is that this year is the third time I am trying to grow it. Two times before were failures. Now I am trying to change my methods.

Sorry, no. I grow green asparagus without hilling.

Correct, but it does require planting it deep.
Give my method a try monkey man. ๐Ÿต
Dig 6 to 8 inch deep rows and plant asparagus 12-18 inches apart.
As the asparagus grows taller, keep back filling the rows until it is eventually level with the garden bed.
Once your rows are level with the soil line, scatter some mulch to keep the moisture in the ground and prevent weeds from growing.

Parsnips? Although they're not overly popular in Poland.

Give my method a try

Parsnips?

Nooo, parsnip is always white, like parsley root. This one is brown as you can see in the photo.

It is a veg which is largely forgotten in Poland now but once it was popular. Still popular in such Western countries like Italy or France. The taste and texture reminds one of asparagus.

Dig 6 to 8 inch deep rows and plant asparagus 12-18 inches apart.

Thanks but I already did 4 years ago. I can see they get thicker.every new season.

Black salsify/scorzonera?

salsify

Popular in WW2 in the U.K.

We used to grow it back in the 70s/80s.

Black salsify/scorzonera?

Yes, with a funny alternative name in Polish - snake killer.

So unknown that when I saw it in the shop 3 years ago I ignored it. My mistake!

Oh lord, I have to DEFEND myself from Karen again. ๐Ÿฅด
Wrong, I copied some of it from University of New Hampshire Extension ( https:/extension.unh.edu)
Maybe they copied it from bonnieplants. (I see you googled it too)
I checked to see what they suggested and they worded it better than I could so I used "a couple of their lines"...SHAME on me, Pam. ๐Ÿ˜ช

My point was that asparagus has to be planted deep.
That is the basic mistake most people make.
And yes, it spreads out year after year.
Asparagus is a perennial, so put it in an out of the way place in your garden.
I have planted lots of asparagus over the years with success, how much asparagus have you ever planted, Karen. ๐Ÿคจ

I have planted lots of asparagus over the years with success,

If you did, you would have shared your experiences long ago. But you never told us about growing your own food. Now it is the first time you do, and it is quite surprising. . :):):)

You`d better stick to your hunting and fishing stories. :Leave the garden/field/farming in peace, it is not your genre. :):):)

So there you go liar, do you have any shame at all when you lie, Lying Luke. ๐Ÿ‘บ

You`d better stick to your hunting and fishing stories.

You and finkus do nothing but gang up on and make other people defend themselves in order to belittle them.
This confirms your inferiority complex towards Americans.
Well it backfired today on you schmucks today didn't it. HOOT ! ๐Ÿคก
You can both suck on that.

do you have any shame at all , Lying Luke.

:):):)
Come on, relax, I wasn`t harbouring any bad intentions. You are to blame yourself:
Firstly, you shared some scant info on your gardening while I was taking a long break from the forum in 2015s.
Secondly, you never talked to me directly about your gardening. e,g when I was discussing potatoes with dolnoslฤ…sk in another thread. You made a comment in the midst of the discussion but you never admitted to growing potatoes.

polishforums.com/life/poland-owning-house-true-countryside-84664/7/#msg1733249

It meant you were not in the business.
That is why I rightly suspect you of daydreaming now. hahaha

Did you notice I didn`t say you were lying??? It is against my decent British upbringing. HA!

Here I go again today, "Defending myself"

You are truly a Fidelis Defensor! :):): Like one of famous Polish kings! :)P:):):

you were calling me a liar big time, Luke.

Of course not. I said you were daydreaming. Don`t take offence, it is quite frequent people want to do some things so earnestly that one day they start believing they did. You have always dreamt of growing veg in the field. :):):)

Of course not. I said you were daydreaming.

You also said that I never told you about growing my own food which was a lie.
Liberals like you NEVER admit they are wrong as everyone can see here.

it is quite frequent people want to do some things so earnestly that one day they start believing they did.

No, thats called gaslighting by you to try and make people doubt themselves however it didn't work because it is all recorded here in old posts which proves you are lying again.

You have always dreamt

And you have always been a liar because you are a Liberal that can't admit you are wrong.
It has been game over for you for a long time here dickhead.
Go dazzle your 4th grade students with your lies and b.s. because it doesn't work here.
We good now you immature moron ?

I copied some of it

All of it from what I read. So it isn't your method. Just be honest. Let's face it the only time you're not copying and pasting is when you're being abusive.

If you did, you would have shared your experiences long ago.

Asparagus wars!!! :):)

dickhead.

How very Christian of you! On Easter Sunday too.
johnny reb  48 | 7975
1 Apr 2024   #173
All of it from what I read.

Then you can't comprehend what you read and just make up b.s. to shame people. ๐Ÿ‘น
Do you really expect me to defend myself AGAIN against your lies.

How very Christian of you!

More shaming...lol....you just can't help yourself can you Karen. ๐Ÿ‘ฟ
OP pawian  221 | 25966

Dickhead is foul language ?
Save your shaming for your 4th grade students there at Cracow International school, Luke.

I have planted lots of asparagus over the years with success, how much asparagus have you ever planted, Karen. ๐Ÿคจ

No reply means that she never has planted asparagus in her life.
At least she knows when to drop her provoking shame games.
Do you think that finkus is back as a Moderator ?

Dickhead is foul language ?

Yes, coz it contains the word dick which is tabboo in decent circles!!!! Ha!!! Feniks and me got you!!!

Feniks and me got you!!!

Got me what, trying to shame me ?

She caught you red handed again with this copy and paste

๐Ÿ™„
I admitted that I copy and pasted a couple of lines but not from the source she claimed.
Is it a sin to copy and paste a couple of lines from an article ?
Why would I deny that ?
I shake my dick after I pee too to get that last drip off. ๐Ÿ˜‹
Shame on me. lol

you can`t stand the embarassment. :):):)

Well I am not embarrassed at all but I am done defending myself to you Brits frivolous shame games.

So your daily use of

Is it a sin to copy and paste a couple of lines from an article ?

No, it isn`t. But it is a sin starting your copy/paste with:Here is my way of doing sthand not marking your quote with italics or at least inverted commas. Sorry, but you would be sent back home with your dissertation or MA thesis if you were so negligent on credits and references. :):):)

PS. BTW, guyesses and guys, there is an old riddle in post 152! If not foreigners, then native Polesses and Poles - show your intelligence and knowledge of Polish veg!!! hahahaha
johnny reb  48 | 7975

No, it isn`t.

But it is and I no longer waste my time defending myself to your inaccurate projections.
I will post what I want, when I want, how I want without your permission and if you two dickheads deem it necessary that I have to answer to you or defend myself to you, good luck.

Better you spend your time pulling one off as you would be much more productive.
