Hello,

I am taking a job in Nowy Sacz. Does anyone live there and can you tell me what it's like?

Are there any other native speakers there?

I've heard it's a dive outside of Kraków. Full of rundown buildings and beggars but I can't confirm that. Just hearsay.

Nowy Sacz

it's a pretty little town...nothing much to do there though...

you can travel from there to Piwniczna, Krynica, Muszyna, Szczawnica - Kroscienko... very close to Krakow and Zakopane also...

I was there yesterday at the specialist hospital. I would not call it a "pretty" town. It seems to be spread over a large area and has a terric amount of light industrial premises and car showrooms. It seems to be a popular place to move too as lots of people advertise for property there.

It's your average non-descript small Polish town, really. There will be some life there, but I wouldn't bet on finding any other natives around.

The one big advantage is that you'll be close to Bieszczady. It wouldn't be my first choice for a job though - that part of the world is very insular and...well..backwards.

I'm not a night owl or a bar fly. I don't really know anyone close either. I have one friend in Krakow. I had something set up in Zielona Gora but it fell through.

Having spoken to some people, some say there is a well renowned business university in Nowy Sacz?

So as an English teacher you should be ok, lets be honest Lowfunk, it must be better than Lubin :)

Also if you like snow sports also i hear its a good place for skiing and the such like!

I'm also making the big move down south this year but to Bielsko-Biała, i wish you all the best and don't forget its not about how pretty the town is, its what you make of your life :)

I have been to Nowy Sacz on a couple of occasions, as people have mentioned it is very close to the mountains for ski-ing and cycling. I have met a few people from N.S and they have been very good sorts. Good luck with the move.

I might try and attend the Uni. My friend from Zielona Gora traded some teaching and lessons for working on his doctorate. I might try to do the same with my MBA.

I haven't skied in ages. The last time I hurt my knee a bit :-(

Maybe I will try to snow shoe.

Hi. I'll be in Nowy Sacz for the next spring semester. In State Higher Vocational School. And I could really use some help and info about the city and if it's possible about school.

Hi Lowfunk,
I have visited Nowy Sacz so many times during last 3 years. It is beautiful city and am sure you will like to live there. I personally prefer Nowy Sacz than Krakow. I am moving there from Scotland at the end of this month. Hopefully see you there, If you going to study at that business school, you will be OK as it is very famous and most of the students who finish their education there always get a job straight away. You are in right hand.

Help with the promotion of a video about Nowy Sącz

I want to tell you... On a YouTube channel that usually focuses on American cities, they made a video about Nowy Sącz by request, and I would like to help it reach a wider audience. Do you have any ideas on how or where to upload it, or whom I could contact to give it more visibility? And yes, I know it's not about Warsaw, Kraków, or Wrocław, but I think it's equally interesting for people to learn a bit more about Poland. Thanks in advance for your help.

Here's the link to the video if you want to check it out. (Sorry, I can't embed it here.)

They are still standing and that`s what counts. While WTC towers are gone. Fate......

Hey, darling, this thread is about Nowy Sacz, not Nowy Jork!!
