Not really keen on any of those myself tbh.

I've dated two Anias already, so that's out too (lol).

I like Justyna, Jolanta, Agnieszka, Karolina and Kasia though.

Kasia

my favourite Polish name, thats a great one.

Karolina

Never ever say that name in my presence!!!! Please don't call your baby that!!!

Justyna, Jolanta,

their good names too, more cute than anything.

Agnieszka

to be honest sounds a bit rough round the edges, especially when your saying it.

Kasia is my vote, followed by Jolanta/Justyna in any order

Girl names

Hi you wonderful people~
My daughter is currently pregnant with my first grandchild; we are from Polish descent and we were wanting to give her a Polish name to carry on tradition. Anyone know any good "girl" Polish names or ideas?

Mścisława, Prudencjusz, Franciszka, Katarzyna.

I am not sure they are all girls names, but it is their name day today.

"...Please rate them in order best to least =) ..."

You live in the US or Canada, correct? (for pronunciation purposes)

1 - Emilia & Klaudia (couldn't decide which)
2 -
3 - Izabella or Izabelle (don't like Izabela as much -> bella = beautiful)
4 - Julia
5 - Olivia (if you live in N. America Oliwia would get mispronounced all the time)
6 - Cecylia
7 - Celina
8 - Sabina

My favorite girl name is Norah but that wasn't an option... LOL

I need your help =) Which on the list of girl's names do you like the most?

I will have a girl in the spring time...so I am having a hard time deciding the names.

first of all, i wish your daughter a nice, happy life in her whole life. i wish your daughter never leaves the holy light of beliaving, i wish your daughter will be a good person to her family, and her community. i wish your daughter will be always respectful and good daughter to her parents. i wish your daughter will be so suucesful in her school, bussiness and private life. and i wish her to be a good mother to your grandsons and granddaughter. i wish your doughter never injure any person in her life. and i hope she will go to heaven after hse leaves the world.

..............

i advice you a holy name from our holy book quran, i advice you to name her(mariam) (polish: MARYJA) with the mother of prophet jesus, according to quran, she was very holy woman, she always safe her chastity and after the end of life she win the heaven. i hope your daughter will be honored woman like her.

..............

according to the holy book:

"I oto powiedzieli aniolowie: "O Mario! Zaprawde, Bóg wybral ciebie i uczynil cie czysta, i wybral ciebie ponad kobietami swiatów." The Holy Quran 3/42

I am half polish, but I've never lived in Poland. My parents sorted out the name question by making this a rule: every girls name has to end with an "A". I think this means a great deal when I travel to Poland because it makes the pronounciation of my name easier.

My favorite polish girlsname is: Evelina/Ewelina.

I also like Elisangela/Elizangela, Isabella, Angelika, Aleksandra, Celestina, Katarzyna/Katarina, Patrycja/Patricia, Karolina, Agata, Beata and so on.

I would prefer a name that works well internationally as well as in Poland. So I would prefer Katarina before Katarzyna although I think Katarzyna is more beautiful, the same goes for Patrycja/Patricia.

Barbara.

4 - Julia

If you speak different languages this name could sound like: Yulia, Dziulia or Hulia

Very true. It could also sound like Yulia Roberts... I'm ok with that. ;)

Frankly all the names mentioned here are pretty, feminine and popular.

Of course, like I said the girl name I love the very most is Norah...

I love the very most is Norah...

i wouldn't name my daughter Norah... it may sound pretty in English but in Polish it means 'burrow"....
or Tanya ("cheap")...

You could also chose an international-sounding first name and a Polish sounding (Katarzyna?) middle name. When she gets older she can chose the one she likes the most...

PS. Don't like Katarina - it sounds Russian and reminds me of a certain Russian oppressor...

Just my 1/2 rouble on the pretty subject...

True, I guess in Poland I'd simply call her my gorgious and precious PGTX Princess! ;)

You're right of course and I'm biased because I love the music of Norah Jones so much... Don't go to Poland very often and don't have any kids but maybe one day...

Oh well ...Hilda maybe? LOL

The original poster's girl is about a year old now and the poster is a very busy mom now.
I don't think we'll ever know her daughter's name.. but my choice would be Celina or Sabina.

she'd need a really good psychologist to get her out of that trauma... ;)

i don't have any kids so i don't worry about that yet, but i know it's hard to choose "the" name...

i didn't like my name when i was younger because it's popular and i didn't want to use my middle name because i thought it's cheesy... but i've got used to the 1st one and got many compliments about the 2nd one, so i'm fine now... but the times are crazy, just as children names... be aware...:)

Tru Dat! LOL

So how do you pronounce your first name? PeeGee? Sounds... uhm ok... Lol

Oh, forgot to mention. I've heard the name Leilani quite a few times now since I moved to Hawai'i and must say I really like that name...

I am curious what name the original poster chose for their little girl...

I have a curiousity. I noticed that you guys usually like to have the names short. Like Basia, Krzys or others alike. Can you tell me what would be the short forms, the more familiar forms for: Elena, Mariana, Tereza, Michael? - that is if you have those names.
