Sentimentality is a strong emotion and an enduring virtue tough to deny, though pragmatically speaking, Poland is still a very tough place to exist and endure, especially for those accustomed to certain standards. A brief vacation should never be a pilot to wholesale lifestyle changes. Ponder some more, if your heart and mind still collectively unite, let my words merely be your subconscious afterthought. :)

Life / Why are Poles always so miserable? Why do they never smile? [512]

I’ll be truthful about my brothers and sisters of Poland; we are cynical and pessimistic to the very rotten core of our existence, our demoralizing history has shaped our psyche to such lengths. Only the duration of a generation can change us. Don't give up on us though, some of us want to conform to more optimistic pastures.

Nope, many of them are decedents of Polish Jews. They are Israel Jews or American Jews. You want tolerance, understand then that us Poles were not in charge of our own Nation back then, there is no need to make us pay obscene amounts of money now for what foreign regimes did back then. That is where tolerance and common sense should arrive on the scene.

I’m curious Wroclaw, where did you pick up the English language so well? On foreign soil or in Poland?

I hate to be so presumptuous, though, with your written skills and current location; you must have at some point resided in an English speaking Nation.

Then I ponder who in your family, assuming you are a Pole, jumped the “sinking ship” of years, decades past in order for you to reside in such a Nation.

Whether it was a move away from Soviet times, it’s still jumping ship and not toughing it out. I know my parents regret moving us out back in the late 80’s to this day. If they could go back and change the past, they would have stayed on board.

It just seems somewhat hypocritical to me is all if that is the case with you my friend because of your current stance, if not, you have got my most sincere apology.

I don’t thing the reasons for it was that they like Poland or not, rather it was the fact that we already have to many illegal immigrants from South America and that they put a significant weight on the economy and other social issues.

And what South Americans would this be? :P

If any entity on this planet should be aware of a little self-disciplined prudence it surely should be the Jews.

These restitutional demands only help to fuel the hatred amongst the masses.

Such monetary lust will only compound and galvanize those already with hatred in their hearts.
