History / Whom do the people in Poland hate more: Germans or Russians? [869]

Germans lost by 7, not 1

My source is Marcus Cunliffe - The Literature of the United States en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcus_Cunliffe

Thats all fairly dashing

It's not. It's recorded history. No need for archaeological digs. All in plain view black.. I mean blue on faded white. All it takes is a few years of American studies :) Or you can take shortcuts and read only what's recommended to you.

Your definitely not a Yankee.

Of course I'm not!

z_dariusz wanna be yankee

Nothing to do with that. Truth is truth and that's all. Just like 2+2=4, even though I have no special preferences towards the number 4.

There was possibly 1 more vote from the English man than from the German man. However, the other 6 votes came from other countries' individuals

That may be. Especially that Americans couldn't sometimes discern between Germans (Deutsch) and Dutch :)

News / Are Poles good enough for USA (to go there without a visa)? [288]

you know whats so funny.. the cannucks live in canada but shop in the USA>>

It all depends on the market. Now it's just so much cheaper for Canadians to shop in the US. Just a few years ago it was Americans who shopped in Canada. This comes and goes in cycles.

Btw. I used to live in the US. I left after 5 years and I'm happier in Canada. Yes, I did work in the US I moved out, but going back to the US to live there? No way Jose!

work in the USA and Drink in the USA>>

work? Yes.
Drink? Ask all those American kids who come to Canada for a booze because in states such as NY the're not old enough to do that.

our products are sure good ..

Do you mean American 'made in China" goods are better than Canadian "made in China" goods? :))

it came to a huge surprise that Canadians dont like
Americans.. and I would think that if they are so welcoming to the immigrants then
why would you not accept Americans as they are the same as those immigrants
that have come to another country to work, live..

Immigration laws on both sides of the border are similar, and it's not like a Canadian can just come to work and live in the US. Yes, they can under some conditions, but it's not so straighforward unless you qualify under one of the NAFTA regulations. Most don't.

Still, there is a relatively sizeable American population in Canada. From Vietnam war deserters to those who simply like it here better. Where I live, I have more American neighbors than Polish ones.

As for jokes, they are on both sides of the border. Canadians joke about Americans, and vice versa. At times the American position on Canada is actually quite aggravating. With some 20 million illegals in the US, most of whom entered the US through a gaping whole called US-Mexican border, quite a few voices sound the alarm about US-Canadian border.

it gets really old seeing people over and over
dog on your country when its the politicians who make all the stupid mistakes and
the people who have to put up with it

With the support of majority of Americans for the Iraq invasion it is only natural that many outside the US generalized and considered Americans somewhere between aggressive and insane. On top of that, American elected a retard for their president not once, but twice. Now even most Americans know that was a mistake that most outside the US saw before it happened.

from the start that vote was rigged.. Florida especially.. guess you have to know
someone in that state.. lol

Actually, I worked in Buffalo at that time. Out of about 50 people I can't recall a single one of my American friends who voted for Dems.

war on terror, yes.. Iraq invasion.. no.. I think the bells went off in everyone when
he said we know they have WMD..

Patty, what war on terror? C'mon, you seem like a reasonable lady.

Out of 19 alleged terrorists on 9/11, 17 were Saudis. All trained by alQaeda with their headquarters in Afghanistan and supported by the Afghan government. That is the same alQaeda lead by the same Bin Laden whom Saddam so disliked.

So given all those circumstances the braniancs in the US government decided to attack Iraq. Tha same Iraq where UN insectors said they found no WMD, which the forementioned US government braniacs understood to mean that Saddam in fact had WMDs.

Patrycja19, the invasion on Iraq never had anything to do with the so called war on terror. My cat was as much a thread to the US national security as Iraq was in the months leading to the irresponsible attack by the US forces.

we still cant prove other wise.

Really? I thought it was clarified by the US government numerous times that there were not any WMDs in Iraq.

History / Whom do the people in Poland hate more: Germans or Russians? [869]

But it is well known that the actual military units of the Army, of the Wermacht, rarely killed unarmed soldiers or civilians, and usually took them captive.

Hey, there were even fairly nice fellas within Gestapo and SS, but I wouldn't be so romantic about Wehrmacht.

Every army in a conflict does bad things...but the Wehrmacht was neither better nor worse than others.

There is a difference between bad things happening and bad things being a result of a policy and orders. German soldiers have been always undoubtedly subordinate so they followed the Fuhrer's words:

"Kill without mercy every man, woman, and child of Polish extraction."

But they didn't, didn't they?

But they did.

What's your beef with Germany that you even today use "Nazi" or "Hun" in your arguments?

No beef with Germany nor most German, only with you when you glorify war criminals.

Life / What would it be like to live in Lomza? [60]

Canada is a big country. You don't need to go to Lomza to experience severe lack of amenities you are used too. Just drive North for a day or two ;)

At one time I knew lotsa people from Lomza. Many went to the US, made a good buck and returned to Poland to live better than some of the people they worked for in the US. Actually, I don't think there is a single family in Lomza whose member did not work in the US :)

Your mileage may vary, but in general the so called "amenities" are more than well know to the good people of Lomza. As for the clubs and such, dunno, gotta google it I guess.

it sounds like Lomza is fairly cosmopolitan for its size

It is, but there is a slight danger with the meaning of the word "cosmopolitan" . I'd rather use the term nouveau riche for this particular populace.

If u mean experts yes we import a few PHDs im sure to work on very special projects. By a few i mean like less than .05% of the population.

Wow! Then the majority of people with advanced degrees in the US are foreigners.
The total number of graduate degree holder in the US is over 16 million (2000). That is roughly 0.05333.. % of the population. So, according to your statement, foreigners account of over 93% of graduate degree holders in the US.

News / Polish Immigrants Leave America for Europe [210]

The same stupid bastards and clowns that invented the airplane, lightbulb, motion picture industry, insulin, the computer, THIS THING YOU'RE TYPING ON .. THE INTERNET??? And shared it with the world , free of charge.

airplane - first successful flights in Europe in mid 19th century

lightbulb - many models existed before Edison, who btw. purchased a patent of a modified bulb from a Canadian inventor.

motion picture industry - how is selling of something an invention?

insulin - was first discovered by a German, Paul Langerhans

the computer - In 1623, Wilhelm Schickard built the first digital mechanical calculator and thus became the father of the computing era. Ada Byron (British) is consideredc the first computer programmer.

the internet - started with the creation of ARPA where Lawrence Roberts started working on the implementation of the network. He based his work on publications by Paul Baran on packet switching. Paul Baran was born in Grodno, Poland.

We need to start with you understanding what you write first.
Posing as a smart guy, more and more you are showing how dad's money is being wasted on a hopeless case. How about taking some remedial math and English?

It is difficult to narrow the inventor of the internet down to one person or invention

Agreed. My remark showed that.

Berners Lee is widely accepted as the inventor of the internet as he was the creator of embedded hyperlinking between web pages.

You are mixing two concepts here. HTTP (used for HTML) is just an application layer. Internet was operational by 1981, HTML spec were first proposed in early 1990's, and they followed many other application layers already in existence, SMTP (used for email) being one of them.

AD HOMINEM!

You started. I bounced it back, so stop behaving like a spoiled kid.

SO ARE U GOING TO ADMIT UR STATEMENT ABOUT MY STATEMENT WAS FALLACIOUS OR NOT?

It wasn't. Yours was simply stupid. You claimed that foreign PhDs in the US consitute 0.05% of the population. The population of the US is 300 mil. There are just over 16 million graduates in the US, which makes it 0.05333... % of that population. It's all simple arithmetic. Go back to school. Oh, and I don't mean a graduate school. Waaaaay to early for you.

I meant that any percent less than .05% would be correct. =) Invalidate it with a deduction then!

ok, then do the math for 0.04999999999999999999999%.

There, you gained a hair of one person. Feel free to consider it a US born person, ir an immigrant.

I never proclaimed wat the real % was i just said it was less tha .05%.

Not really. This is what you said:

I meant that any percent less than .05% would be correct.

Therefore, the 0.04999999999999999999999% I proposed is correct as per your own conditions.

Again u are making fallacious statements!!

You wouldn't be able to tell a fallacious statement from a logical one if you tripped over it. You don't even have the intelligence to verify what you really wrote before throwing in yet another bull, let alone to remember your own post.

Now go to your daddy and apologize for wasting his money on his intelligence resistant offspring. You are such a waste of gene pool.

There's almost no Spring or Fall in Poland

Is that why Poles have use the term "zlota Polska jesien" (Golden Polish Autumn)? It lasts 2 to 4 months depending on the area and given year's weather conditions. You will see plenty of people in the forests, picking blueberries, and especially mushrooms - hugely popular Fall activity. Some areas are simply infested with people traveling to various forests in late August, September and sometimes early to mid October. Many tourist agencies offer organized mushroom picking tours, as some areas are better for that than others.

that's how it looks:

just make sure you know what you're doing, as some of those may be lethal.

I have an IQ of 162 Im techincally almost ingenius so shush about the intelligence thing!

You confuse your height in centimeters with an IQ. It's not the same buddy.

Also, there is nothing in IQ tests about the mythical king, so I don't even know why you mention him. So technically, reading the above, your IQ appears to be in upper double digits.
