I was once told on another Polish forum that it was a "cool surname" by a Polish member which leads me to believe it is not a common name I would not know that living in England but my heart is in Poland and always will be.

My Father was 15 when Hitler stole the motherland a barbaric in humane theft my blood boils just at the thought, he and his older brother where forced to fight for Germany not his choice how could it he was a boy Poles had a choice it was Hitlers will do or die. Anyway he was repatriated with the Polish Army and had to grow into a man and help the fight for freedom. So 1939-1946 I have no answers Dad has long past so have his immediate family. I visited Poland 4 years ago and fell in love with a beautiful land people and culture, met my cousins and saw my Grandparents graves. But had little information on his war years. I am in the process of writing a book about my life and family and the information my fathers war years are an important part of it, without him I would not be here here and without the war he would never had moved to England hard way to think but the reality is the truth. This is my lone search so any help is appreciated. I have a 2 places to name Nowe Miasto Lubawskie and Boleszyn if any body recognises these this is where I start
Thank you.

My father was Catholic my English mother was Church of England so they had to get permission to marry by the Bishop to my limited knowledge there was never any mention of Jewish in the family not that would be a problem to me. I have every respect for any religion in the world. In fact every Christmas i have a Jewish style candle holder and i arrange the candles in the flag of Poland in memory of all the Poles,Jews and any one else who was needlessly slaughtered at the hands of evil murderers,
who can never celebrate this special time. I will post later as i have some more questions on my search.

Good evening every one my name is Franciszek Bryszkiewski I used to visit this site a long time ago but life got in the way there might be people that remember? but those who don't;. My father fought in WW2 with the Polish Free Army but settled in the UK in 1946 he never got to go back to Poland but had planned to go in1976 but sadly passed away in 1975. I however managed to go in 2018 and saw his remaining family. I am researching his war years I have his records from 1946 in the UK from the Polish Resettlement Corps , but they have no records from 1939 -1945 they said I need to contact Poland if anyone here can give me advice on where to look I would be most grateful. Thank you

Off-Topic / What's your connection with Poland? Penpals. [574]

My Father was born in Poland in the twenties and in 1939 he and his older brother where forced to leave their beloved Poland, they both survived but my dad ended up in the UK his older brother in Bavaria they had a reunion in 1974 i was there Dad was going to take me and mum to Poland in 1976 but sadly passed away in 1975.In 2019 I made that journey for him and for me for over 30 years my heart was yearning to do I had a wonderous week in The Old Town Warsaw I met my family visited my Grandfathers grave, I saw the field where my fathers house once was. I had a magical time and met many people who offered me friendship and treated me as one of their own even though I could not speak Polish. Poland I salute and thank you from my heart.
