The last time we were in Rzepin for a cousin's wedding, they played and danced more to salsa music than anything. I couldn't believe how popular it is.

Storing it in a dark area doesn't do anything to flavor. It only helps maintain any color it gets from the cherries. This is a common practice for any wine or spirit made from fruit if it has color. Brown bottles are good for this too.

I haven't made any kind of nalewki in a while. It's time to make a big batch.

Years ago I read somewhere that if you put margarine out that mice, bugs etc. will not eat it. So I tested this by setting a stick in the corner of my garage where I knew I had mice. I checked it 3 or 4 times and nothing had touched it after a couple weeks. Then I forgot about it. A little more than four months later I remembered it was still there. I rushed out to check it and after all that time, nothing touched it. It was dusty but it was still untouched. That stuff cannot be good food. If mice and insects won't eat it, I certainly will not. But if anyone else likes it, then by all means, have at it.

Wow! I married into a Polish family whom introduced me into a large Polish community. I have never experienced anything like Polish women being like that. In fact, I was very accepted into that family and community. I have never known such love and camaraderie however, maybe that is only where I live?

We have family in Rzepin and every time we go there, we are treated the same way so I have advice to offer.
